This is a slide show of 17 international cartoons-- worth a look.
Considering how much The Donald [del]wants[/del] demands to be liked, his people had best keep these away from him. He may push the nuclear button out of thin-skinned, foot-stomping, teary-eyed hurt. Yeah, he’s enough of a big, clueless baby to do that.
My faves: one, two. The second one would be more accurate if he had his hand on Lady Liberty’s crotch.
I think this Australian cartoon encapsulates the horror, although I would not be surprised if those with a similar world view as Trump saw it in an opposite light.
I don’t get #14 (Singapore). What does it mean to have a tie for a tongue?
#16 (Brazil) seems like one his followers might agree with, treating the press as the enemy juicers to the good and [del]righteous[/del] Big Orange.
#17 (Netherlands) seems to be more about their own politicians being fair weather and changing their own views to match his. None of them is willing to keep their own hair.
Finally, I’m not sure why they didn’t translate Kompromat in #6 (Russia), which seems to basically just be saying he somehow keeps dodging all the attacks on him.
Those don’t appear to be the world’s opinion of Trump. Or the people of the world’s opinion of Trump. They do appear to be the opinion of several select political cartoonists.
No, that cartoon shows the leaders of the big xenophobic demagogue political parties of some European countries, all with Trump-like hair to show their similarity to Trump. Geert Wilders, the Dutch Trump, has been in Dutch politics for 10 years.
I took #17 to depict the growing nationalism and rise of “Trump-like” politicians in Western Europe. I assume the woman in front is supposed to be Marine Le Pen
I would have assumed that Trump would therefore be reviled, but, since the world seems to be turning on its head, I will now be looking with keen interest at the next worldwide opinion polls of Trump to gauge the strength of the re-surgence of hard- and far-right sentiment. As well as global elections, of course.
Also, cartoonists are probably inherently more likely to be left-leaning - and therefore anti-Trump - since creative, artistic and innovative people tend to be liberals and politically on the left.
