OK, out of everything current I saw last year, you’re making me choose between Trap and Hit Man. Man, that’s hard.
I think that Trap narrowly beats out Hit Man, solely for the wasted potential (it wasn’t the movie I thought it would be) and miscasting (for what it is, I couldn’t buy Josh Hartnett’s performance). Hit Man is mostly OK, it’s at the end that it gets weird.
Wait, this is “Worst Movies of 2024”. I nominate TrapandHit Man!
I had several friends- including one in the industry- see the film and thought it fun and entertaining. I saw on Rotten Tomatoes that the Critics didnt like it (30%) but the viewers did- 90% Popcorn.
Mind you- de gustibus non est disputandum
Got great ratings and did Okay at the box office. People liked it.
I watched part of Trap, and I’m not sure I’m motivated to watch the rest. It’s not terrible, but there’s something weird about it that I can’t quite put my finger on.
When I saw the trailer for Red One my first thought was, “Well, it’s definitely not going to be a great movie. It might not even be a good movie. But I’ll watch almost anything with Dwayne Johnson in it, so I’ll give it a try when it’s available on streaming.”
And I did find it “fun and entertaining”. I may even watch it again next Christmas if it’s available.
I really have no dog in this fight, not having seen any new movie last year, but I learned from an article about the Razzies that there was a biopic called “Reagan” with Dennis Quaid as Ronnie, a film that totally escaped my attention and I didn’t hear or read a peep about last year. Was it really so bad?
Same here, in fact we havent been to a movie theater since covid. Once in a while, a newish film gets to cable before the year is out, so I think I have seen a couple.
It’s my understanding that they filmed an entirely different movie that was edited and reshot into what we got.
It was originally a Terminator type of story where the antagonist goes back in time to kill Spider-Man’s mother and a team of already costumed Spider-Women are the Reese to his Arnie.
It why the villain’s mouth often doesn’t match what being said.
Interesting. I know for a fact Dakota Johnson signed for a very different movie than what was made, but once you are on…you get what you get.
It was mostly nonsense and some editor tried to piece the whole thing together the best they could. I’ve seen worse, but I do commend any editor who has to go through footage and assemble a movie from whatever they gave this editor.
