Oh, definitely Highlander II. That’s the worst movie ever as far as I am concerned.
The other movies that have been mentioned (that I’ve seen) are merely weak. Well, some of them are. I thought “Darby O’Gill” was cute for what it was (B-movie by Disney); “First Knight” was weak but not in an extraordinary way, same goes for “Medicine Man” and “Russia House”. (Well, “Russia House” was just a bit slow, is all.) I didn’t cringe when I saw these movies (well, maybe a little with “First Knight”). On the other hand, I absolutely fell into a coma of shocked disbelief when I saw “Highlander II”. It is the worst movie EVER.
I find it interesting that “Russia House”, “First Knight” and “Medicine Man” all have scores by my favorite living composer, Jerry Goldsmith. I believe that the “Russia House” score was nominated for an Oscar, and the “First Knight” score was a critical favorite. (Can’t remember if it was nominated, though, but it was probably a contender.) Same goes for the “Medicine Man” score. Damned good score. Huh. Go figure.
Connerys Tarzan film was actually a pretty good straight adventure film, from a period around 1960 when the films tried to be more adult. Gordon Scott as a grim Tarzan, a group of sleazy jewel thieves scheming against each other. Connery played a bloodthirsty gunman who wasnt intimidated by Tarzan at all, went out looking for the Apeman and found out what an arrow in the chest felt like.
HIGHLANDER II on the other hand...brrrrr. It`s like a movie where we find out Sherlock Holmes WAS Moriarty, blaming his own crimes on an imaginary mastermind. Dreadful idea.
I thought that Outland was a pretty good remake of High Noon.
Highlander II was a really bad movie, but Avengers was more than bad. It’s the only film I’ve ever seen where the majority of the people in the theatre walked out.
Avengers bring a new meaning to bad and I say that because it tried to be a big budget cool adventure flick. Highlander II never wanted to be anything but a popcorn movie.
The Avengers? Uma Thurman in a black leather catsuit? Whats not to like? Never Say Never Again was also far better than the Roger Moore tripe EON was serving up at the time: Moonraker, anyone? "Good to see you back, Mr Bond. I hope were going to see some gratuitous sex and violence." OK, Entrapment sucked.
I agree with The Griffin. This guy is one of the most overrated actors of all time.
Two movies that haven’t been mentioned yet. Just Cause had a lot of potential and a great storyline, but I just didn’t believe that this old fart and Kate Capshaw were a believable couple. He was 65 when this movie was made. He was older than her father!
He annoyed the piss out of me in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
The Name of the Rose. Sticking a fork in my eye would have been less painful.
Actually, now that I think about it… I can’t think of too many movies this boob has been in that I think are any good.
I was going to mention Sword of the Valiant, a Golan/Globus retelling of* Sir Gawain and the Green Knight *starring Miles O’Keeffe…and yet, there sits Highlander II, perched in my brain like some feces-smeared statue commemorating some unspeakable atrocity.
The “Hamlet” scene alone is enough to make strong men weep.
