Sorry I haven’t posted, I just got back from a week in New Orleans! I think we’d better wait until a Saturday in January to accomodate everyone and their pre-Xmas plans.
If there’s somebody who doesn’t like Japanese food, we could do Thai or Ethiopian or American or whatever… the two restaurants have more food than sushi, so you won’t be stuck eating raw fish if you really don’t like it.
tsarina, I am relying on you fro regular thumps on the head in LJ regarding a Michigan gathering. I rarely read this forum, and would be sure to forget to check!
RickQ and I could probably make it on Jan 15. We are leaving MI sometime in late January/early February, so this might be a fun last MI dopefest for us.
Odinoneye, can your wife come? You said she enjoyed the last one, so maybe you can sign her up for another.
As long as it’s on a day where she can go. (The 15th would probably work). I asked her when this thread first started back in October and she liked the idea.
Do you mean about this near-painful Arctic cold thing we’ve got going on outside? I’m wearing three to four layers of clothes every day and a long coat over a short one. Its getting to be like that Shel Silverstein poem; ‘And if I walk I must not fall, or else I can’t get up at all.’
tsarina asked why we are moving. You said “Don’t you have windows? I would leave, too.” I remarked that both you and I live near Detroit (tsarina doesn’t) and that explained it all. Odinoneye said don’t forget him in the Detroit crowd, as he lives practically down the street from me.
Sorry, I’ve got a brain full of Hobbes’ State of Nature and Ross’ Prima Facie Duties. You’ll have to picture steam coming out of my ears, like from a Detroit personhole cover. I know exactly why you’re moving; heck, every year I tell myself this’ll be my last MI winter, and yet - I stay. It’s a sickness.
Getting down to 8 tonight…brrrr. My mom mailed me her old down coat from North Carolina last week because, “Honey, I just don’t ever use it.” Boggles my mind it does.
I dunno. It’s not all that bad here in East Lansing so far. I haven’t even had to break out my winter coat yet. Of course, wait ‘til late April/mid-May, and I’m sure I’ll be complaining as loudly as the next guy about how winter should get outta’ town. But then, I’m just stupid that way.
Oh, concerning the original topic of the thread, I should be up for a Dopefest on the fifteenth. In the meantime, I’m going to relax and bask in the fact that I’m done with another semester. (One more to go. Woo!)
