10:01 to 11.09 = 68 minutes, n’est ce pas?
I’m now totally confused: 8:53 to 10:01. Are we in different time zones?
Jeez, I’m sorry I mentioned it now. 08:53 - Caractacus Pott rauses subject of roundabouts. 10:01 - jjimm posts obligatory magic roundabout link.
The other 68 minutes is just a coincidence.
Ah, glad to be of service. I’ll boost it with this one in Hemel Hempstead.
And the best-designed roundabout I know, the Headington Hamburger. Going round this one is a breeze - everybody knows which lane they’re meant to be in - you get into the lane and it just guides you to your exit, and your entrance to it is protected by lights, but once you’re on the roundabout the lights will be green for you all the way round. And the high-volume traffic is directed through the middle. Genius!
God I’m interesting.
American, living in London since 1996. One foot on either side of the Atlantic, and a really bad groin pull.
Is it kosher to refer to the spinoff messageboard for denizens of the British Isles, or is this a no-no? Lord knows it’s gone very quiet over there lately.
The Borough - St Mary’s Hospital to be precise.
But I did have a Great Aunt Lucy.
Englishman here. Living in a village in Leicestershire, working in Leicester itself (the biggest shithole in the East Midlands).
Likewise.
I wonder why there’s no magic trigger for linking to pictures of Spaghetti Junction.
Just what the thread needs – a pair of Bristolians.
This post is in memory of the late Benny Hill.
Hmmmmm…Have you seen us both in the same room together?
Yet another Australian in London
Geordie living in Paris here!
English here - Sarf London (Woolwich) by birth, Medway chav (Rainham) by residence.
Mancunian/Mostonian, sunny northwest of England.
I like Marmite, but don’t drink tea.
I like football, but not cricket.
I have visited 221b Baker Street, but not Stonehenge.
Why yes, I am English.
I mainly lurk here but I’m another resident of Bristol, the best city in the country. I actually met Staggerlee by chance in the pub a few months back but didn’t reveal my doper name at the time (hello!).
I grew up just outside Taunton and my parents still live there. My dad was the mayor of the town in 2007-08 so NineToTheSky, you probably saw them the Gazette plenty of times. They were quite proud of their public appearances at various events and subsequent pictures in the local paper. I think their record was about seven in one edition. ![]()
Is this as intriguing as it sounds? How do you know that you met? Spill … (or make something up, I don’t mind).
I’m not quite so impressed with Bristol at the moment. My daughter has just moved there, and has discovered that they don’t issue resident parking permits for the street she lives in, and there is no free parking within walking distance. She’s not a happy bunny.
We subscribe to the Gazette (on Mrs Nine’s insistence: she likes the property pages), so, yes, I must have seen the photos of your dad.
I moved to London from New Zealand a couple of years ago. Have failed to make any dopefests, but have developed a fondness for tea.
