Dress very lightly when going outside (as clearly it must be a warm, mild climate for this to work) and, when you reach your destination, disrobe or stay clothed as appropriate. If you’re at my house, I’ll be clothed, but I’d let you be free to do what you wanted. The people for whom the community was designed will probably be naked.
I’m sure there’d be places – churches, say – in which everyone would be naked indoors. (And no, that’s not a typo.) But in restaurants that serve soup – well, that calls for clothes.
The only problem with this scenario is that my husband wouldn’t like other guys looking at me naked, and yes, I’d be naked a lot. He’d get over it, though. Sign me up.
I’d take the job so fast it would make your head spin. (I’m male; no kids or spouse to be concerned with; I am mobile and open to relocation.)
Am I the only person so far in this thread who has actually been to a nudist event? After about ten minutes of shock, I got used to the nudity, and after that, it was no problem. What public nudity shows you very quickly is that most people aren’t that interesting to look at.
Take the job, no kids to worry about (not that I would consider it a matter worth worrying about if I had them). I wouldn’t go naked myself though, I prefer to wear clothing even when alone.
I spent my childhood in Italy, clothing optional beaches were the norm, growing up in that environment you realize that nudity does not equate to sexuality… that seems to be a US preoccupation.
I’ve always had kind of a hankering to be a nudist. The idea of normalized, non-sexual mass nudity is really appealing to me (since I hate undue attention on my body, and other people fetishizing nudity/certain parts). I also think it’s very healthy for children to experience. I think I would feel amazingly free and un-selfconscious in a nudist community.
Female, would take the job and bring kids along (if I had them), and go bare often myself (depending on weather etc).
I worked as an art class model for a semester in college, so every other day, I was the only naked person in a room of 30 people or so for three hours. So, being naked does not bother me, so long as I’m not an object of ridicule.
A decent job with good benefits, free housing, 115% expected salary, working with people open minded enough to be naked around others in a non-sexual environment? I’m right there!
While going in I’d stay clothed, after a while, I’d probably wind up at least trying it occasionally to make my friends more comfortable.
As for the reaction to certain females, I thought nudists were more accepting of that just being a natural reaction and didn’t think anything of it. If not, then that’s a big problem-as I don’t need anywhere near nudity to achieve that. That’s when I’d probably just be commuting.
You didn’t have a option for “been there, done that. didn’t get the tshirt”
I did freelance bookkeeping for a while. One of my clients lived in a nudist colony. When I drove to his house the first time, the first person I saw as an old guy with a walker. My first thougt was “HOLY COW!!! If he doesn’t put sunscreen on, he’s going to have a very bad sunburn” If I had had sunscreen in my car, I would have stopped and offered it to him.
It really takes no time at all to get used to naked people. Once my client had a lady show up asking how to deal with her sleeves on a lace blouse, she didn’t know how to cut them off without them raveling so I asked my client for sharp sissors and snipped the seams off. She was not wearing anything when she came in, and wasn’t wearing anything when she left.
Another time, client’s AC was not working, so his wife (very hawt looking lady, btw) offered to take my clothes for me. I was so comfortable at that time that I started handing them to her. After I gave her my business jacket, my shirt, my skirt, my cammy, my slip and started pulling my panty hose off…they both were all wide eyed and said something like “OMG, your poor girL!!!” But thats what they said when they say me in pinchy toed high heels when I walked in the first time. They did demand that I didn’t wear those shoes in their home.
You know, I just thought of something. Wouldn’t this sort of thing be illegal inside the U.S.? Doesn’t every state have decency laws or something? I definitely would be concerned working in a place that might get shut down.
Likewise, flatlined, was your experience outside the U.S.?
I meant that in my work capacity. Like, people would expect me to be on call 24-7, since after all, I live right there! And if you don’t think people wouldn’t think that, then you are naive. Nudists are not necessarily a better class of people. It has nothing to do with them being nudists anyway, it’s just a matter of not being able to get away from the job.
Isn’t this kind of thing calibrated to “community standards”? If the community is nude…?
The event I went to was in the States, BTW. I think it could have been considered a “private function” though; they had essentially rented a secluded park and camping area. There was security ensuring that visitors only arrived through the main gate.
Nudist event, no. Kink events/private homes where pretty much everyone was naked (some in underwear, some in fetish-wear), yes.
And yes, most people aren’t that interesting to look at.
As for decency laws in the US, if it’s private property, the gov’mint can’t tell you what to wear. Just don’t go nude down main street in town. (“Private” does mean that you need some minimal barriers to entry, so no one can just wander in off the street, but a gated community would accomplish this just fine.)
Can I fight the hypothetical a bit?
I couldn’t imagine going to a job interview 90 minutes away from me so completely ignorant of a company that I was unaware of its nudist tendencies. How did I even apply for this job anyway?
So given that, I guess it should be assumed I’d be pretty cool with the whole nudity thing.
