Would you vote for Donald Trump for POTUS?

What a wonderful world it would be if the leader of the most powerful nation on earth truly did not care who the president of another nation was. Or not.

This is why I’m saying that his core constituency is stupid assholes. And SA is their poster child.

Even though I know it happens, it’s so weird to see ignorance actually cheered. “Yay, he doesn’t know the answer and doesn’t even care, yay!”…

It’s a cheap gotcha and you all know it. Or is it really your contention that every presidential candidate should know the name of every foreign leader? Trump and the audience know it, and that’s why the response and the cheers. Trump exposes them for what they’re up to and the audience recognizes and applauds it. The audience knows that should it become necessary to know the name of Zimbabwe’s president once he’s in the White House, Trump is more than capable not only of learning it but that he’d likely handle whatever was going on better than pretty much anyone else.

Anyone who thinks this is about celebrating ignorance for its own sake is not very bright themselves.

Can’t it be both?

“I don’t know” is a fine answer – “who gives a shit” is a celebration of ignorance. No, I don’t expect a candidate to know the names of every world leader, but I expect them to care about international relations, and not be dismissive of world leaders for applause lines.

This was just an Imus fantasy, and I don’t know if Imus was “celebrating” this sort of thing or mocking it. But you seemed to be celebrating it – celebrating ignorance and the dismissal of world leaders.

Not a big deal, not the end of the world. An extremely minor thing. But I still have no idea what you were celebrating.

No, it’s putting the gotcha media in its place and giving a disingenuous challenge the respect it deserves.

Answered above.

I agree it’s a stupid question. A good answer would have been that it’s a stupid gotcha question, but it is indeed important to engage with and respect international leaders, in general, and that he would have advisors with the necessary knowledge.

Who gives a shit is an ignorant and stupid answer, because such knowledge is actually important, even if it doesn’t need to be in the head of the candidate.

Wait. You TROLLED the ENTIRE COUNTRY of Canada?

You ROCK, dude!

:dubious:

Gallant would say “I don’t happen to know the names of all the leaders of African nations, but I am committed to developing good relations with all countries and look forward to meeting with many world leaders as president.”

Goofus would say “Who gives a shit? AMERICA! Fuck yeah!”

“Gallant” would be the typical politico nonspeak that has everyone turned off right now. People are sick of that shit.

I’m already sick of the alternative, and it’s only August.

Stupid Teabag morons cheer ignorance.

Stupid Teabag morons don’t have 270 electoral votes, so it’s no big shakes.

One could easily be excused for not knowing the President of Togo, say, but Zimbabwe? Robert Mugabe is one of the best known, and notorious, leaders of Africa, and has been head of the country for 35 years. One would expect a conservative candidate to know about Mugabe even if he didn’t know even a single other African leader, since he’s a poster boy for dysfunctional left-wing African governments. It’s almost like not knowing who’s in charge in Cuba.

Thank you, Goofus.

Tell it to Imus, it was his hypothetical. For all I know Trump does know who he is. I also know that knowledge doesn’t make a whit of difference as to how well someone might do in the White House.

Before someone jumps on this like a duck on a june bug, what hell are you talking about? What does that even mean?

QFT

And it is really sad that there are people like SA that are willing to carry water for even hypothetical assholeisms.

Oh, The Donald promised the tea partiers they WILL get 270 extra electoral votes. He’ll explain how, you know, soon.

It means that Starving Artist is an idjit moe-ron AND he not only does NOT see that as a liability BUT ALSO sees it as a quality to admire in a US president. Because he’s an ignoramus. Only someone completely ignorant about, oh, anything important would not ask his president to be smarter and less ignorant than he. Most people wisely try to hide their ignorance and stupidity. He wallows in it.
