I stopped playing WoW months ago. I was really disappointed in the queue system for getting into PvP, as well as disappointed in the fixes given to my class (Warlock) and how inadaquate it was for PvP. At any rate, a friend of mine has been asking me to start playing again and I’ve decided to reactivate my account and give it another go.
My question is…what UI’s are people using? Could you list what (if any) UI’s you are using and perhaps a URL to the latest versions? I’ve been trying to find some good ones (like Atlas) but I keep getting older versions that blow out my game. There don’t seem to be any updated compilations with current versions that I can find that actually work for me.
I’m using Insomniax. Includes Titan Bar, CTMod, movable bars, the move-anything mod, a decent tradeskill mod, all-in-one inventory, etc. Mine works with the latest patch fine except for an occasional error box (usually ACE, which I think hasn’t been updated yet).
I use the full CTMod Package (including CTRaid, though I have the moveable bags mod turned off). I also have WhisperCast, but I find that aside from paladin buffs no one uses it much. I HAD Atlas, but haven’t re-installed it since I switch computers. Probably should fix that.
Try Curse Gaming. They list lots of mods, and the most popular are pretty much guaranteed to be on there. The last big patch was a while ago though, so I’m surprised that you’re having problems with older versions of mods, since all of the popular ones should be updated by now.
Bleargh. After this last patch, my old Insomniax was totally trashed and I went through about three days of hell before I found the gamma version of the new edition. I don’t understand how anyone can play this game with the default interface. I need my multitude of visible bars!
I was actually using Insomniax before, but when I tried to download it and put in in it totally blew out my system. I haven’t seen Cosmos since the beta…maybe I’ll check that one out. There are only a few I really want like Atlas and the Smart Pet one, but I wish there was a way that every time they patch I don’t have to go through this dance.
BTW, thanks for all the great resonses…keep em coming. I want to try and get back into this game, especially since I’ve been looking over the proposed expansion (and a new level cap). I think tomorrow I’ll start another related thread and ask folks what sets they are using after they cap out. Friend of mine says that for PvP its all about the set and I think he’s right.
I’m not using too many of the sets, but my hunter is only lvl 36 and doesn’t PvP that much anyway (still a Scout) but here is what I am using.
Atlas - Provides in-game maps of all instances, which helps finding things.
cMinimapCoordinates - Just puts your x,y coordinates on your minimap and world map. Also helps in finding things or telling others where to find them.
flagRSP - A role-playing mod that mainly lets you give your character a last name and a description that is shown to other people using the mod in your characters tooltip.
MarsQuest Level - Prefixes everything in your quest list with the level of the quest (ie [35]). Helps in deciding if you can take on the quest on your own or if you should call for backup.
SellValueLite - My favorite. Keeps track of how much anything you have ever sold to a merchant sold for and displays that value in the tooltip when you mouse over it. Useful when your inventory is full and you need to dump something to make room or determining if it is worth taking something.
I’ll also point to www.curse-gaming.com as a place to find up-to-date mods.
