I just got back into playing WoW again after a year off. I’ve decided I want to make an alt(ernate) character different from my main character to change up the gameplay sometimes. I don’t want to do this on an old, established server because there will be a relative lack of players my level to play with, and also because the players will be on equal footing with me. On old servers, rich level 60 players “twink” their alternate characters by giving them money and equipment that a player would normally never have. A new server puts everyone in the same boat. Also, if I were to start a character on whatever the established SDMB server is, I’d be way too low in level to play with anyone, most likely. Whereas if we all start on a new server, we’ll be able to group more effectively.
So, with that said, I’m going to start a new character on the Horde side on server Demon Soul, a server that started less than a week ago. I’m going horde because 1) it’s a different gameplay experience than my previous character, and 2) horde tends to be outnumbered, and I want to do my small part in balancing that out.
So if anyone has been pondering making a new character, feel free to join us on Demon Soul. So far, it’s just me and Palooka, but hopefully that’ll change soon. I’ll post name and character data in a follow up - I’m having trouble deciding what I want to be.
My main is a rogue, and I definitely want a different gameplay experience. I’m leaning towards a pure caster (warlock, mage, priest) but I’m having a very difficult time picking one of them.
Count me in. I’ve been thinking about getting back in the game (hah, saying it like that makes me sound athletic!) for a while now, and I haven’t played horde much. Character details to follow.
Wonder if I could use “c’mon, guys, I want to play Horde with the other Dopers!” as a convincing argument for Blizz to let me play in US servers…
Nava, anxiously awaiting the Spanish servers so she can be both a French allie and a Spanish Hordie.
I’d do it if it were Alliance. My main and other alts are all Horde (Suramar) and I’ve done those quests absolutely to DEATH. I’ve recently started some Alliance alts on the new Thrall server, but those are still baby newbies.
Eh…maybe I’ll do it. I’ll see when I get home and get a chance to get online there.
I’m just curious…have there been any new servers recently that didn’t have transfers from older ones? I haven’t paid attention lately, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen a new server not have transfers avaliable.
Anyways, I’ve always wanted to play with Dopers, but I don’t think I could level another alt at this point, especially one on another server. Besides, I just picked up Guild Wars and need to help my guild take over Amatz Basin
So I created a new character on Demon Soul last night. An undead mage named Thunders. The name was supposed to be kind of a joking reference to the Dead Boys, being a walking corpse and all, except I forgot that Johnny Thunders wasn’t in the Dead Boys. :smack:
Anyway, my first impression wasn’t good. The people there suck, or it seems like it. It reminded me of middle school.
But then a lot of the ones who were chatting left or something, and the ones that replaced them weren’t so bad.
It is a nice change because it’s getting really frustrating with my main. He’s a Night Elf Rogue at level 20. He can do okay in a fight if he’s up against one enemy at a time but more than that and he’s dead. Of course now the game’s stacking all the enemies really close together so it’s really hard to fight one without pulling three more.
The ridiculously true of the Alliance territory. Horde might have Barrens chat (not that Westfall is much better), but it’s a lot easier to level there. Whoever designed Westfall should be fed to the murlocs. And the gnolls. And the orcs. I’m sick of them always feeding on ME.
Oh, and I see that Demon Soul is a PVP server. I prefer to play PVE and get my PVP in battlegrounds. Nothing frustrates me more than getting ganked while killing an infinite number of cats to find a pristine tigress claw in STV for my shammy necklace…
I was in the same situation. I went with a mage because it looked like they’d be a little more able to survive in battle. I wanted someone who wasn’t quite as much of a pushover.
Yeah, they can reach about the equivalent of 10k hp if they don’t mind blowing cooldowns.
I made a female orc shaman on Demonsoul, but had to remake because her combat stance bugged the hell out of me. Reason you see so few female orcs: they hold their shields behind their backs when in combat, and, thus, die more often than the other races.
Rerolled as an undead warrior and killed bats with senorbeef. I’m still thinking of remaking a non-female orc shaman since playing an undergeared warrior is usually as fun as getting punched in the kidneys.
I have to disagree! I never got bored while levelling in the Barrens since there’s always some idiot on /general to keep me amused. And just think, with the new patch /lookingforgroup will be worldwide. It’ll be like barrens chat on steroids!
Ended up picking a warlock, got him up to level 12. Name is Mortigus. If you make a character, post your name, so I can add you to my friends list. Eventually we’ll get a guild going.
I started a troll shaman last night, name of Tanstaafl. Only got him up to level 5 before I had to log, partially because there were so many people in the starting zone that we were standing in line waiting for the mobs to spawn, but mainly because I can’t remember the last time I’ve heard as much juvenile, offensive chatter on the general channel.
I’ll probably be on again sometime this weekend but am not sure when. Has someone started compiling a list of who has what characters out there?
