Rhyno goes next week if he doesn’t win immunity. Then John (I can’t wait for that idiot to be off my tv) the ruperts need his vote for one more week till they have a clear majority.
I say Lil stays around till the last of the Morgans are gone, maybe even beyond unless she flip-flops again. I don’t think she will though, she’s gonna be really loyal to Rupert now, he’s got a way of making people feel accepted; I think Burton belongs to Rupert now.
I hope Rupert pulls a Colby. I like the guy.
Andrew had a nice run of it, I liked him right up till he couldn’t pull off welcoming Lil back into the tribe. I think the poor guy was tired. That Osten had to be a morale wrecker with all his whining.
From what I could tell, the only chance the Morgan tribe had was to get Jon to go turncoat on the Drakes. Not only did they not manage that, but Andrew apparently managed to get on Jon’s bad side (and vice versa) as evidenced by Jon’s Macho Man impression during the voting. Don’t they realize the importance of human politicking?
When and if it comes down to the final five with Rupert, Burton, Christa, Sandra and Lil. I’m sure Burton will manage to come up with some justification for dumping her, since he won’t be able to save her from R/S/C.
But then again, will it actually be lying? I didn’t hear him make any concrete statements that he planned to be loyal to Lil until the end. “I will never lie to you” and “I think we can go far” (the “we” being rather ambiguous) and such things. Maybe he’s being sneakier than we think.
Yeah, I noticed at tribal council that Burton was careful to say he’d never lie to his fellow Outcast, not that he’d never vote for him or her. And he may honor his word – unlike Andrew, he’ll tell Lill he’s going to vote for her.
I loved the shots of Andrew and Lil talking, with Rupert walking behind Andrew making faces and shaking his head. Funny stuff. I would have cracked up at him. I give Lil a lot of credit for not letting on that he was there.
**Pirate, hell! Switch that skirt for a kilt and he looks like a wild-eyed Scot!
Interesting that each Outcast member got at least one vote to return. I wonder what swung it in favor of Burton and Lil. I thought Skinny Ryan looked pretty good sitting at TC–a little less anxious and a lot more normal than when he was a Morgan.
Something about Lil sets my teeth on edge. Maybe her self-righteous indignation, her boy scout uniform, her total amazement that lying and deceit are part of the game. Did she not watch any previous shows? Did she not see competent, contributing tribe members voted off as strategic moves? Maybe it’s her sour face and–geez, I keep coming back to that self-righteous attitude. I am looking forward to seeing her booted yet again.
give them a fishing spear and they can’t fish. give them a willing trainer to teach them how to use it and they still can’t fish. well as a lazy tribe they aren’t too bad - the food lasted right up till the merger…
I think Rupert’s smart enough to already be working on his endgame strategy. He’s a strong favorite to win a final vote against pretty much every other player. And he must realize the other players know that and will be looking to avoid going into the final challenge with him. So he’s working with the two players, Crista and Sandra, that seem most likely to do a “Colby” - ie stay loyal to Rupert as a matter of principle even if it hurts their chances of winning. The alternative strategy others players have used is the “lesser evil” plan - go into the final two with someone everyone else hates worse than you. Jon’s an obvious candidate for this manuever. But this plan would force Rupert to take the risk that Jon would win the final immunity and choose whoever the other player is.
So I think Rupert is going to continue to stick with Crista and Sandra. He’ll use others from his current alliance (Jon, Burton, and Lill) to pick off people he sees as threats. This will include Burton or Jon if he sees either as a danger of organizing a counter-alliance. Meanwhile Rupert’ll continue to bring in the fish and be everybody’s friend, so he won’t alienate any future jury members.
Dang it, Grek! I just watched it (from a tape) and came in to post my predictions, but they’re exactly the same as yours (almost).
Can’t wait to see Jon go. He’s extremely lucky-- the merger saved his annoying ass from the ax. Lil stays with Drake, but I think Burton will stay loyal to her and she to him, making Rupert vulnerable as soon as the Morgans are all gone. Ryan O has to be the next to go (assuming he doesn’t get immunity). Too bad. I like the guy, and he’s a local South Bay dude.
I was wondering if they’d let Burton “carry over” his extra immunity to next time. That would’ve made it interesting. No big surprise he gave the extra IM to Rupert.
Damn, this is a good show!! The last one was good, but I think this is the best one so far.
The jock/fat guy exchange between Rupert and Burton was great drama.
I agree with all of that, Little Nemo. Rupert is looking good to go all the way. (crossing fingers)
I think the most delicate problem he has on the horizon is the Burton Dilemma. He needs Burton in his alliance, at least for the next few TC’s, but Burton is also his biggest threat in challenges.
I think Burton is probably sincere in his alliance—he’ll likely stick with Rupert and His Wenches until the final four. (I don’t think he’ll go along with Jon’s coup attempt.) But at that point, Burton is a big threat to win immunity, and smart enough to know he’ll need to get rid of Rupert. Sandra and Christa will stay loyal to Rupert as long as they can, but if Burton wins immunity in the F4 challenge, they’ll probably vote him out to save their own skins.
So the problem is, when do they get rid of Burton? They can’t do it for at least two more TC’s, or they risk blowing their majority, because Jon might jump ship.
I think the smart thing to do would be to do it on the third or fourth challenge from now. Ryan goes next, then either Tijuana or Darrah. Then it’s time to start thinking about getting rid of Burton, if he doesn’t win immunity. If he does, lose Jon or the last Morgan and hope Burton doesn’t win the next week.
But I wonder if Rupert is ruthless enough to do that. He may feel honor-bound to keep Burton around until the final four, and that may bite him in the ass.
There’s always someone, every year, who is totally clueless and is shocked, shocked I tell you, that lying and deceit are part of the game.
“You voted for me?!? You lied to me?!? I can’t believe it!”
I always wonder if they’ve ever watched the show before.
It’s all about “strategery,” baby.
Just like there’s always an Osten. The fact that they have to sleep outside, swim in the ocean, exist on very little food, deal with bugs and snakes and creepy-crawlies - they’re amazed that it isn’t Club Med and end up whining and complaining the whole time. Well, you know what I mean. Just that no one’s ever quit before.
I like Lil, but her facial expressions are just bizarre.
She seems to continually look as if she just sipped a puree of lemons, dung ,and vomit, and is just amazed at how awful it tastes. And then she forgets takes another swig.
How about if Rupert and teh ex-Drakies decide not to share any fish with the ex-Morganites. Hell, they;re all just T.C. fodder anyway, why waste precious nutrients on them.
I can’t get over the scene (in a previous episode) when Savage was remarking that they ate fish while Rupert was there, but now that he’s gone they don’t have any more fish. He single handedly disproved that famous quote: “Teach a man to fish…” Has there been more of a loser tribe in Survivor? If Drake hadn’t pulled the bonehead move of throwing that one I.C., Morgan would’ve gone to the merge with 2 people.
Whenever there are challenges in the ocean, and she has to take her pants off, ostensibly revealing her panties, that’s kind of… well, you know… not exactly the most attractive sight.
As I said before Rupert’s the best player in the game this season. So I think he’s smart enought to see Burton as his biggest threat right now. Darrah, Ryan, and Tijuana are hopeless - if any of them had any sense of strategy or politics they’d have overthrown Andrew weeks ago when his shortcomings became apparent. So they can be dismissed as followers. Lill and Crista appear the same; they’re willing to join an alliance but not as leaders. Jon wants to be a ringleader, but he’s made himself so universally despised that nobody else wants to have him in an alliance, much less leading one. Sandra has the brains to pull something together, but right now her best bet is to work with Rupert and she seems honorable enough not to betray him for no reason. Which leaves Burton as the only person with the ability and the motive to organize a “let’s vote off Rupert” coalition. The material is at hand - there are five potential recruits available. So Rupert’s going to have to either take out Burton as soon as possible or watch him very carefully for the next few episodes.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Somewhere out there, a boy scout troop just saw their leader’s granny-panties. I wonder if there’s a “washing your eyes” badge.
