I deleted my folders and Cosmos but I still get THIS & it is driving. me. sane! I am refering to the name of the neutral or unfriendly auto pop-up (in this pic it is yellow) w/health bar. If it’s a single, not much of a big deal but damnit to hell if there’s more than one, than it’s just chaos and I cant see shyte (especially in confined areas). I’ve tried disabling everything on cosmos and wow but I cant find the culprit - anyone???
Why wont it go away? It’s making the voices in my head say really bad things! And i’m afraid I might retaliate and start playing D&D online, or (gasp) Guild Wars.
i really really do not want to uninstall WoW and reload it from scratch…
Depends a bit on what role she’s playing, I bet. I can see it being helpful for healers perhaps, and personally as a tank, I take a mob’s health into consideration when it gets away from me. If it’s low enough health, I won’t bother to try and pull it back because it’ll be dead soon anyways. I can also imagine if a pull gets out of control, having the health bars up makes it easier to find the buggers. When you have 30-odd PCs and NPCS and pets in from of you, it can be hard to figure out where the loose mob is. I don’t use it, but thinking back maybe I should…pictures Hyjal trash On second thought, no.
Or she’s in MC fighting Magmadar. It’s a rather useful thing to have up on those dog packs.
Yes, I can see that it has uses, but I’d hardly call it invaluable. It’s certainly not as useful as a threat meter or your keybindings or lots of other things.
I find it fairly invaluable depending on role, such as for MA’ing, MT target selection, or changing targets to DoT them up grouped and solo. It can also be helpful for monitoring when an add is trying to heal or CC, so you can switch targets for a quick interrupt (not sure if it’s mod-specific, but you can have cast bars show on the floating health bar). If I had to choose between a threat meter and floating bars, I’d take the bars; I have a fair idea of my threat generation without a meter.
The mob health is very useful. One case, on a boss fight, where it’s useful is when I’m healing the add tank for Al’ar. By monitoring the add’s health, I can have a good idea of when the mob will blow up, so I can ensure that I have my pre-cast timed well. This was also good for when healing the Murloc tank on Tidewalker; I have tons of regen now, but when we first started him, it was nice to know if I needed to blow a potion to keep him healed, or if I could wait until the Murlocs were down to simply regen some mana. Or how about the Dragonhawk boss, it’s nice to know when the adds are up and where they are, so I can adjust my positioning and casting to avoid pulling aggro.
As someone else said, I couldn’t imagine being a tank or even Main Assist trying to click on mobs that are moving around. With the health bars, you can see the name of the mob and how much health it has, so you have as much relevant information as possible amount which mob is best to target next.
Is it invaluable? No, I wouldn’t say so. Certainly, as a healer, I have ways around all the rest of that, like having people call out when adds will explode or such, but then you run into potential lag issues, or relying on someone else’s judgment when I’m the one in the best position to be making those calls. So, it’s a valuable tool that is useful in some cases, and annoying in others… this is why, I think, they made it easily toggleable.
It’s awesome for PvP. In a large blob of people you can easily keep track of the number and condition of enemies. I would have missed a lot of ‘opportunistic’ kills without it (I don’t mean kill-stealing, I mean finishing off people who’re trying to slip away and heal).
The only time I use it is when I’m trying to click on a quest giver or battle master and some douchebag is mounted on his netherdrake and sitting right on top of him.
