WTF IS this, Where DO I live?

Christ!

A scan of the headlines on a daily basis proves that America is headed for a deep, dark, totalitarian, prejudiced, lack of free speech/free expression country and it fucking SICKENS ME!

Luggage inspectors calling people unamerican for peace signs? THe government falsifying “proof” of Iraq buying nuculear[super]TM[/super] materials?* People made to take off peace-related shirts? The Patriot act? The patriot act II? No more Roe in the form of no partial-birth abortion?

What the fuck is this? Who told the administration that we wanted this? Who IS Dubya? Who does he THINK he is?

Next it will be regulated speech on the internet, required school prayers, everyone will be Christian, and required to support the damned preZident(or will he prefer “Czar”?).

I don’t like this. This scares me. This scares me more than the possibility of a Nuke attack from Korea or a bio-terror attack from the mideast. At least if we were attacked I’d see a reason for all of the war-mongering, but a Pre-emptive attack? What the fuck?

I guess there is nothing more I can say. I’m sick, I’m tired, and I want Dubya’s reign over. He’s no good for us. He’s turned us on each other. He’s ruined many years of foreign policy. He’s ruined our formerly not-so-rosy impression internationally. We are Bullies under Bubya-big, bad, baton carrying bullies.

Sam

*- Not that I doubted there would be forgeries and lies contained within the text of their “proof”, but I didn’t think they’d be OBVIOUS forgeries! He’s so un-smooth. ANd yes, I think Dubya had a LOT to do with them. His minion and advisors don’t do this kind of thing without a go-ahead from the Czar.

I agree. What the hell is up with calling liberals “traitors”? Conservatives who think that are fascists.

I hate Bush’s attempt at Christianizing the country. He obviously has no fucking idea why it isn’t in the first place. He also feels that “chief executive” is synonymous to “dictator”. Fuck you and your religious intolerance.

Anti-war protestors pouring out their French wine? You fucking bought it already. They don’t care what the fuck you do with it after they get your money. Stop fucking driving your SUV if you’re against the war. Iraq is the fucking enemy, not France. Fucking idiots.

Hell, I support the war but I loathe all you moronic, intolerant, fascist Conservatives.

I think you mean pro-war protesters. I don’t drink wine, but I’ll take all the French kissing I can get.

Yeah, that’s it.

It’s all unbelievable. Plus, I’m caught in the middle. My full-time job I work in a liberal bookstore that has peace signs and all that everywhere. Then my part-time job is corporate and thus more conservative…some of the employees are actually in the military and nationalistic sentiment is high. Needless to say, I haven’t said anything of my liberal leaning there because I don’t really feel like getting in a hot debate right now. I’m burned out on debating.

And all people who over-generalize are idiots.

Italics mine.

I think you maybe missed the qualifier here.

Welcome to life under Emperor George.

Know what’s really sickening? He’s pulling this crap in the name of conservatism.. Politically, at best I’m a moderate, leaning to the right fiscally and on the role of government, to the left on social issues. Neither “side” has a monopoly on truth, beauty and the American Way.

This pathetically limited little man has launched a systematic assault on the limits protecting citizens from governmental interference and control in their lives. He’s tried his damned best to make his inadequate, paranoid view of an imperial presidency just as close to the law of the land as possible. And he’s done it all in the name of limited government.

Dubya’s had it rough from the start, and much of it he didn’t cause and couldn’t have prevented. But he is responsible for his handling of things since. I think he’s probably a very amiable, nice guy in person. I think he’s more canny than bright; a ruthless, effective campaigner who just plain got overwhelmed by the dreadful, complex responsibilities of the actual presidency. Judging by the fruits of his actions and decisions, I think he’s a walking exemplar of the banality of evil.

I just have to laugh when I think about the reaction Clinton would get if he tried everything Bush is doing. The neocons would be purple and shaking with rage.

I understand perfectly what Splanky said. Up in that quote, he tried to make a qualifier of those particular conservatives. Later on, he said “I loathe all you moronic, intolerant, fascist Conservatives.”
So is the phrase “moronic, intolerant, fascist” a subsection of Conservative or a description of the group as a whole?
The point is that a group of people can disagree with another group of people without resorting to name calling for the entire category for which a few people happen to fall under. This works for both conservatives AND liberals.
Resorting to name calling on either side doesn’t actually help to further debate.

Well, I agree. FWIW, I thought he tried to establish which conservatives he was ranting at in the beginning, and then dropped the qualifier because he thought that was established. Could’ve been more gentlemanly, but the fact he used a qualifier at all puts him up on a lot of dopers.

But of course you are right. It would have been more palatable to say, “people who think that…” and leave irrelevant political associations out of it.

Bush isn’t going to get reelected. I think that’s something we can all agree on.

It’s traditionally hard to oust a wartime president. They can wrap themselves in the flag and call their enemies traitors and many, many people equate supporting the president with supporting the troops in the field.

Plus, the Democrats don’t really have a credible front man. Ever since Gore dropped out, well, you tell me 2008’s Democratic Dan. I can’t think of anyone.

Eh, 2004. Not 2008. Sorry.

Well, at about this stage in Bush I’s presidency, after Desert Storm I, exactly the same comments were made about GHWB’s “invulnerability.” After the end of the war, though, people realized that the economy still stank, and that Bush I wasn’t doing a whole lot to fix it. Draw from that what you will about this time around.

Enderw24, I have no problems with conservatives in general as I think some people may even consider me one. I do have a problem with those who don’t believe in bipartisanism. There are people on the right* who believe that bipartisanism is somehow unamerican. My last line may appear to cry out to all conservatives, but it was really directed at the ones I consider assholes. Sorry for the confusion.
*I am mentioning only them because they are in power right now.

I’m thinking like Duke. Since King George has left our national economy in ruins, emptied the coffers of tax dollars, reduced taxes, ignored the economy to the point of near-depression standards and flown in the face of what our country used to stand for so much that I doubt he’ll be re-elected.

I mean, attacking Iraq IN SPITE of a lack of support for war? GImme a fucking break!! Fuckin clown.

Sam

The war isn’t gonna last long enough for Dubya to bask as wartime President. He won’t be re-elected. Doesn’t matter, though. He’ll have done his job, which is to increase the riches of a few oil companies. (not Iraqi oil, though)

Two words: Howard Dean.

Yeah, it’s not like anyone is purple and shaking with rage on these boards about what Bush is doing. Nobody at all.
