WTF is with eBay today?

I tried doing some searches and managing my sales n’ stuff on eBay last night, and it just hangs. I can get to the main page, but searches are just useless. I thought ok, it’s just down or something. Now I’m at work at cannot do any of this stuff either. I would be fine with this if I just couldn’t search, but I’m selling stuff and it’s pissing me off. Especially since no outage is mentioned anywhere. What gives? Anyone else having “issues”?

They did just lose the case about Buy It Now, if I understand correctly.

Might be emergency patching.

Nope, hasn’t worked for me since last night. Dang. I’m selling some old STARLOGS.

It’s working for me - sort of. And very slowly. the menu at the screentop that has the links for “My eBay” isn’t showing, and it’s loading like it’s submerged in January molasses.

HEY - I FIXED IT!

Yup, I knew as soon as I posted on SDMB, that I’d go back to eBay and everything would just be hunky-dory, and whaddya know! Try it now - it seems to be back to normal.

Hallo – I have a friend who couldn’t get to eBay last night, either. And this morning it is just hanging there, and I have 25 auctions up…

Still, for me, it’s ‘better’ than it was earlier this week when my account was frozen cos some person apparently tried to break into my account – I was locked out for about 2 days

I changed my password, and eBay sd, huzzah, great, you now have a new password, and of course I would type in the new password, and get ‘This information is invalid. Please try again.’

My notes to customer support started out as, ‘Hallo, I have a wee problem here, could anyone help?’ and ended up with, ‘Look you bloody buggery bollocksy bastards fix this rubbish right now or I shall become rude and abusive.’

At one point, they ‘helpfully’ sent me a new password – what was only 5 characters – uh, er, thank you so much, cos you require a SIX character password.

And then 12 hours later, sent me the note that someone had been trying to break into my account…and that maybe I should think about changing my password…

I relate this charming anecdote cos apparently eBay has been buggered up all week in one form or another…Hammersnipe has been stroppy, too, unless that’s been sorted out…

cheers,
Ms Boods
PS As for eBay hanging, I clicked on my link to see what I was selling and whilst it was hanging, came here, read about passive-aggressive things, scrolled through some of the message boards to see the new topics, saw this thread, told my friend aboutu the thread, read the link to Forbes in this thread, and eBay is still hanging…I think I’ll go out and play for a while…

Gosh, cybersnark, I think you did! Aw, my hero – thanks, mate.

Now go bid on my stuff.

cheers,
Ms Boods

Every week at around 1AM on a thursday night/friday morning Ebay goes into maintenance mode…

Sam

Yeah, but maintenance doesn’t lasto more than 24hrs.

I’m trying to bid on an item. I’m a registered user, have been for a while, and when I hit “Submit” and it tells me “Please Wait” I can’t get confirmation of my bid. Dang. I’ve emailed the seller and told them that they might want to check with eBay. After all, people are wanting to give them money and their go-between won’t tell them about it!

The Kids in the Hall once created a sketch that had no beginning and no ending, just a middle section filled with absurdities one couldn’t quite piece together because there was no underlying context to frame them in.

Kudos to Forbes for adapting a comedy piece and bringing it into the world of professional journalism.
Does anyone have the missing pieces to this story that, you know, tell the facts of the case?

Heh, I was thinking the same thing Enderw24. That article left me scratching my head, trying to put together the pieces of exactly what ebay did. I found this other article on Forbes’s site that explains it better.

It’s that damn ghost in a jar that’s screwing things up.
