Wuthering Heights, Depths and Carparks - a charitable MMP

Morning!

This is insane, it’s the end of November, we’re expecting a thunderstorm right about NOW (listening to thunder…) and tomorrow at this time we’re expecting the sleet/snow to start.

Crazy I tells ya…

It’s so crazy in fact that…the Cute Little Redhead at the office supply store not to be named - just ASKED ME OUT.

Yes, the 20-something-ish, also married girl asked the balding, 40-something-ish married guy out. Right there at the cash register.

“So…I was wondering…you think we could have lunch one day?..Because, well I’ll be honest, I think you’re really cute and I’d like to sit and talk with you…you know get to know each other better, maybe see where it takes us?”

::gulp::

Relax, kids, I said no. Actually I said No Thank You, because I’m polite that way.

But I am going to live on the little ego boost for at least the rest of the week.

First rosie, now you! Everybody wants to date the cool kids!

I KNOW!

And damn, she is the cutest thing ever. Pearly white, alabaster - pale skin. BIG BIG BIG blue eyes. I tell ya, someone needs to call the Wife and explain the magnitude of the willpower it took for me to not faint on the spot.

And this is a recent trend with me. Can’t be a new haircut, when you ain’t got a lot of hair to ‘style’ it stays basic…not my cologne, I don’t wear any.

Some of y’all may remember the Blast From My Past (Susan), about whom I spoke in a thread about a year ago…(too lazy to search for it). About a week ago, I ran into her at a school and she once again mentioned how we ‘should get together…or something’, while holding and squeezing my arm.

And the waitress just LAST NIGHT who got a itsy bitsy tip because my wife paid the bill, and whom the Wife told me later was “clearly” hitting on me.

It must be National Humor the Old Guy Month or something.

I need to start trolling the Starbucks, or something. Maybe the luck will rub off on me.

I’m still waiting for LiLi to send one of the spare Husbands over, either that or I’ll have to consider trading in 'im indoors for one that actually works…

I haven’t been hit on lately, dammit. Last time was the drunk chick at the Shrimp Fest. So far, the guys are still leading the gals in the hit-on-Bob department, but the girls are closing the gap… (probably 'cuz I haven’t been to the beach since I moved)

And IT IS an ego boost when someone shows an interest in the elderly, regardless of the team they play on.

Sweetums2K?

BooFae, ask for Attacks Husband, he cleans and everything!

Last night was cold, so cold I almost called the landlord in the middle of the night to demand that he fix the furnace *right * now. But I found my space heater and it actually got back up to 60F in my bedroom, so that was ok. Running the space heater is probably cheaper than running the furnace anyway, since it’s a gas furnace.

I’m wearing 2 of my new sweaters this morning, with jeans. I think I’ve given up on dressing for work. Jeans will do until January.

Nobody’s hit on me for a while, not since that waiter at Carrows. I think that was about six months ago. :frowning:

And he’s single! Why, I ask you? Why? He’s perfect. QD and I were just discussing leaving our significant others for him.

Which one would you like shipped? On second thought, I want to keep Attacks Husband, but the other seven are free if you paying for shipping.

Hi, Cool Kids. I’m just a sickie dropping by to say hi and bye. I went to bed midafternoon yesterday and didn’t get up till this morning, and right now I’m giving serious consideration to going back there – two hours up has about worn me out. Apparently I’ve got some kind of flu bug. Thank heaven it’s not a pukey kind of flu bug. I just don’t get pukey bugs, or if I do, I don’t puke, I just get hideously nauseous; I think I’ve only puked about five times in my entire life. Which is one reason why it’s soooo hard for me to be around other people puking because it makes me nauseous but apparently I have no sympathy pukes in me. And unresolved nausea is, trust me, worse than just puking and getting it over with.

I like Sweetums2K, but it does seem kinda long for a nickname. Of course, it’s still a lot shorter than the original, so there is that.

Duracell is adorable! Except that the one who never stops is Energizer. The Energizer rabbit, to be specific. But that’s okay, Duracell is still a good name.

Other than that, I got nuthin’. Except aches and pains and a fever. Excuse me while I go crawl back into my hideyhole.

Chuh. Hmmph. As if. Good luck with that.

I’ve *had coffee with * Mr Big Old Bus Guy --and did he hit on me? <snorts derisively>

NO.

She prolly needs glasses. So there. :stuck_out_tongue: <pouts 'cause no one has so much as looked at me in at least 6 months. Are there any gay soccer moms? I’m starting to feel desperate…>
And I just had a nasty thing happen to me-I have to do this group project (dontcha just hate those?) and for cohesion’s sake, I sent one person my work and asked her if she thought it was cohesive etc. She sent it back, covered in blue, differently fonted comments-but it was mostly proofreading stuff. I made some corrections and wrote her back, saying her part was nicely done and I was done with my part now and that I was going to turn it into the Webmaster (the person who is putting the parts together). That was 2 days ago.

I get this email today-it is yet another version of the stuff I sent her, with now massive corrections-we are waaaay past proofreading. She has changed whole paragraphs, syntax, revamped my focus etc.

Um, I didn’t ask her to do this. I am not sure just what to do now. Major snark would make me feel better, but not solve the problem.

Thoughts?

OK, I’m back up and having coffee. The cat hornked next to her litter box, but at least is on the linoleum. Tonight’s my overnight shift, so I don’t have to deal with the hordes of Walmatians. There’s some good news though, Trader Joe’s has opened in Cary. I might check that out next week.

swampy, on the register counter, actually. Come to think of it, it’s happened two years in a row.

Boofae, kitty!kitty!kitty! That second pic looks like he’s practicing his hating, though.

MBG, gee I never get hit on, and I’m single. And I like red heads.

taxi, be careful, next time you’re gone for a day, the topic may be human sacrifice.

Sweetums2K, I like it!

I was saving the hitting on for the second date.

Besides, YOU drank tea. Sort of drank it anyway.

Cute ones? Say about early 20’s? BIG blue eyes, really nice smile? Thin, almost waifish without looking undernourished?

:sigh::

Why can’t ugly women like me, so I don’t get all angsty over it when it happens?

DISCLAIMER I missed you all so much I got carried away with this post, it’s a little long, sorry.

Thanks for the shout outs my peeps! (I must be channeling #1 daughter!) It has been truly frustrating not to be able to converse with y’all daily, or at least reading your posts and having mental conversations! Hopefully I won’t be on hiatus from The Dope again at least until next Autumn when The Kitchen and Back Bedroom Remodel Project gets underway! This fixer-upper will be a nice cosy little home when we are done…but is one ever done when one is a home owner/ho’moaner?

li-li I feel for you with you mil not feeding you. My mil always makes certain that there is plenty of food, and sometimes she makes really good stuff, fish/clam chowders and CBS (corned beef soup, although made with tinned corned beef) however there is also a lot of spam and items like fish head soup. Yeah, she still lives in the village, and I eat traditional foods, but I am not overly fond of fish heads, and the grossness that is spam goes back to my own childhood in white bread suburbia.

While I am for the most part a righty (I am able to use my left hand in many tasks, just not for writing) my two oldest children are both lefties, even though their fathers were righties. My husband and the majority of his family are lefties, but our two children are righties. Make of that what you will!

And Jah I totally feel for you. My migraines have lessened considerably in the last few years, but what a misery they are.

Gotta love the baby photos! Baby Kelly is a gorgeous girl, and what’s not to love about a girl that young with the ability to hold a stone gaze while flipping the bird unobtrusivly? Also I enjoyed the redneck biker/beer/bonfire and chainsaw extravaganza…I love me some big, burly biker boys!

First of all, rosieposie, Jonathan is a gorgeous boy! Second, yeah, ten pomeranians. I hobby breed, although it has been three years since I bred my last litter. I also do a little bit of rescue, and I have a terrible time letting the puppies go! I have five each male and female, three intact males but have only used one at stud so far. Four intact females, although two are not going to be bred again and I will have them spayed soon. Three are of my own breeding, two spayed/neutered pets which I simply could not part with, and one little girl who is what I have been working toward, and I am planning a breeding with her, and her mama, in the Spring. That will be her mama’s last breeding. I have learned a lot, and have aspirations to finish at least one of my puppies in the AKC conformation ring.

brainpasture as skiffman is still finishing cutting up meat, I feel compelled to tell you that yes, in fact, moose is considered venison. As I understand it, if it has hooves and is a ruminant and is taken in the wild, it’s venison. We are having moose meatloaf tonight, as a matter of fact! The trick with game meat is to cook it slowly with some moisture (and sometimes some fat) added. My meatloaf will have half again as much bulk pork sausage mixed with it. We eat so much game and fish that I can taste the chemicals in store bought meat.

puggy no weaving for me, I already have enough crafty things I do! Besides I do my own grooming, and one of the reasons for the bamboo flooring instead of replacing the carpet was to cut down of the fur/hair issue. You know that I have long hair, well skiffman’s is almost as long as mine, and The Son has decided to grow his out. I finally allowed #3 to cut her butt length hair when she turned 14, but with people, poms and cats, there is a whole lot of shedding going on continually, and my OCD cannot handle it!!!

Congratulations gotti on both the spiffy new tv as well as the awesomeness that is a big pickemup truck! I am jealous!

rigs bamboo seems to be the New Big Thing. I remember when I was a kid growing up in north Seattle my dad had planted bamboo in a brick planter along the front walk, as well as in a Japanese-type garden in the side yard. It grows amazingly fast, on a hot summer day I used to sit on the edge of the planter and quite literally watch it grow. The kind my dad grew, and that my floor and other things are being manufactured from, is a super fast renewable resource. Compared to putting down hardwood flooring, even a laminate, my bamboo flooring will have renewed itself in two years. And it’s so purty!

gt I remember that I missed your birthday, as well as at least one other MMPer, belated best wishes! Fish is all over the media as the government takes more and more away from us. Remember when the government was taking over the family farms in the 70’s/80’s/90’s, and Willie Nelson began the Farm Aid benefits? Well, that is what is happening to fishing, only we don’t have a Willie Nelson or any other big name bringing our situation to the attention of the public. My son won’t be a fisherman, and even the skiffman, who has fished commercially since he was seven years old is considering a different occupation. Trouble is, all he knows is fishing. It’s all a sore subject here, and the topic of many get togethers. But thanks for thinking about me! I think of you everytime I recall the 40+ bulbs I didn’t get planted before the freeze!

db I don’t know what the size difference between Lucretia and Maggie, but Kazz is about 20 lbs, while my largest pom might top the scales at 7 lbs. I have three which are just under 4 lbs, the rest are all in the 5 lb catagory. Big old white cat standing on his hind legs and bopping pommies on the head is frightfully amusing! And he is not outnumbered, really, if only he would accept the three half grown kitties as allies instead of delinquents he needs to discipline he would have the poms both out weighed and out muscled, but he still hasn’t gotten over the passing of Izzy Kitty and Angel Baby last March, and is holding a grudge against the new kitties, considering them to be interlopers, and he bops them even more frequently than the poms! I may be a gimpy middle aged woman, but I do not lack for either companionship or amusement!

I empathize with your frustrations regarding the project FCM, that you were removed after putting so much into it bites, and having to give it over to a loser is just wrong. Oh, and check your email later, I need to ask you sumpthin’.

Oh li-li as the song says, I’m not first class but I ain’t white trash. Having said that, gravy is very important! Skiffman and the kids eat catsup on rice, pasta, potatoes, which is icky. The proper topping is gravy (with the exception of pasta). I am not big on fatback, but bacon or sausage adds just enough fat to very lean game meat. On the game skiffman brings home the fat is not marbled throughout the muscle, but laid across the back and down the sides a bit. I nail it onto trees for the birds.

Taters I do not blame you one bit for not going out in the weather, PNWers just can’t deal with a little snow, and you have gotten whomped! I remember precious few snow storms like this one from my past, the biggest was probably in '88, right before I came to Alaska. 405 is not a good highway with even a little bit of black ice, I can well imagine the situation, and hope that your husband stays safe. You too! Don’t worry too much, it will soon be in the 40’s and raining again, I am sure.

Who knew that the Japanese even had such a thing as skivvy vending machines??? Or that anyone did??? I will join in with the collective ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! I am curiously curious about li-li’s QD undies though…

And at this point I have reached yesterday’s (Tuesday’s) page and will end this post and begin another if further response is called for. That would be called for in my own mind, I love chatting with you guys!

I have been trying to post this since late yesterday afternoon…grrr…

Afternoon, MMPer’s! And a gloomy drizzly one it is here. Not too cold, thank goodness - about 65F - but the weather service says cold weather is going to be here by the weekend.

Cute kitty pics, BooFae. I have a former feral kitten who looks as if there is some Maine Coon in her family tree. Sugar Magnolia was just sitting beside a cat trap one morning and let me pick her up. It wasn’t her mama in the trap; that one was male. And you usually don’t even see feral kittens. I think someone knew there was a feral colony there and threw her out. I managed to drive a 5-speed all the way back with one hand because I didn’t have a carrier or extra trap with me.

DB, I’m redheaded and I would flirt with you if I got a chance!

I need to add a few finishing touches to the newsletter and take it to get copied. I’ll be back later!

Oh, by the way - Welcome Sweetums2K

VWife called a bit ago to report that the local Animal Control ossifer stopped by to set 2 live traps for the feral cats. Yeehaw!
Beats shooting them…

So it’s fair to say that you’re interested in intercourse?

Note: I left out the usually expected adjective. Look it up in the dictionary, I dare ya…

Hello all. I came to work today, but our network and stuff was down, so I spent a few hours trying to find something to do that did not require internet or network access. Um, it was precious little.

kai, glad to see you 'round these parts again. The SNOW is not a problem. The problem was the flash freeze; yes that’s exactly what it was. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING turned to sheet ice. It was a literal ice skating rink on the roads. In all my years of living in Pierce County (nearly 37 of them), Hwy 512 has NEVER been closed due to ice or snow. NEVER. Yesterday it was. Snow is easy to drive on. I don’t have problems with that at all. Trying to ice skate with a several thousand pound vehicle though, is another thing.

Venison is just awesome when it is cooked properly. I grew up eating game meat, still love it. However, there have been some occasions when it was not cooked properly. It was awful.

Tel, glad to see you back too! I know I’m to late to wish you luck, but I’m sending good luck vibes anyway.

Well, they’re getting ready to reboot our internet. I have to go for now.

Hugs to all that need them (or want them)!

Hallo to kai.

Unless this no-knead bread turns out uberfantastically, I’m probably not making it again. Easing very limp dough into a 450F corningware pot makes me nervous. It smells good, though.

That reminds me- I should be making dinner, or at least thinking about tomorrow’s dinner. I’m thawing stuffed potatoes for Mr. Lissar tonight, and I’ll probably just have a lot of bread. I should make a grocery list. We’re almost out of flour. I have no idea how that happened.
