Oh, and like rosie said, Sweetums is the muppet. Gossamer is the WB monster. I have trouble remembering my cell phone number, but this stuff I know.
Today is apparently all about mop handles and mopheads. I came in to work early this morning to check out emails and stuff before all the fun starts and there’s six orders for mopheads and two for mopheads and handles. Apparently life has gotten messy at prisons all over the state cause all the orders are from state prisons. It’ll keep people busy here today, so that’s good. Well, not all day cause it should take only a couple hours to fill the orders. Woo and Hoo!
FCM there are those who say I’m tastier than chocolate. So There!
ok - since I won’t be able to check in until late tonight, after rehearsal, [del]please type the important stuff in another color so that when I skim, I’ll know what to[/del] I’ll send out pre-emptive "YAY"s, "awwwww"s, {{{{{hugs}}}}}s, and other appropriate comments. I may get a chance at some point, but it’s not likely.
anyway, I owe, I owe, it’s off to work I go.
There’s this place here in Albeeny that makes Kroger brand peanut butter and some other Kroger brand stuff. Someone from there is ever so anxious to talk to me. I’ll bet it’s concerning some packaging they want us to do for 'em, which is good, but wouldn’t it be great if he was calling me to offer me a high paying job as a peanut butter taster. I lurves me some peanut butter so I think that’d be a really jake job. It really is fun in my world.
Good morning, all. I think. I’m still only about 25%, but that’s about 20% better than I was yesterday, so I guess that’s improvement. The only good thing about getting sick this week? I was able to put off the root canal I was supposed to have yesterday. (It’s not a tooth that hurts; I just need a special kind of root canal to put in some kind of anchor so they can crown the tooth.) As dentist-phobic as I am, postponing an unpleasant procedure for a completely valid reason is always good news.
Sweetums2K is a he, it appears. A he with a delightfully warped sense of humor. You’ll fit in well here, sir!
[plaintive whine]What’s a Turtle?[/plaintive whine]
Congrats on the raises, gt! And bummer about stupididiothead, FCM. I prescribe extra chocolate for both of you. Chocolate is as good for celebration as it is for self-pity, anger, sadness, or anything else you can imagine. I’ve been prescribing it for myself, too. Maybe that’s why I’m feeling a bit better today?
drae, congrats!!! That’s amazing! Three times? Wow!
sweetums somehow seems to be appropriate.
I became a turtle many years ago. I was in my early twenties IIRC. Isn’t there a story about an old man that goes with the whole deal? I was presented with a little card upon completion of the riddle test but it has long since disappeared.
Just in case anyone is interested, “Little Person Lady’s” insurance is going to pay for my bumper…and no, it’s not the gecko.
Nurse Debbie and BarbeeDoll (I’m too tired to code the TM) are going to go look at some nursing homes. We spoke with Gram and Gramps last night about the need and he’s okay with it but she’s very deaf and selectively dense so it is a crap shoot as to how much she took in of it all. He will qualify for a medicaid bed but actually finding one will be the miracle on something-something street. I pray constantly to accept that it is now in God’s hands.
rosie iffen he doesn’t call, ya doesn’t needs him, hmmmph!
G’mornin’ one 'n all. It’s Pre-Friday and the last day of November. Tomorrow we start the inevitable countdown to that wunnerful day of gift exchanges and turkey and kids wondering why the hell Aunt Clara keeps knitting those damned socks every year.
I received a bundle of iPod crap yesterday. We have a habit of bidding on bundles of crap on eBay. Sometimes we win. This time we won a lot of something like 25pcs of random open-boxed iPod crap. Cases for Video, Nano, Shuffle (1G), several sets of Panasonic and Sony earbuds and clip phones, half a dozen car cassette adapters (junk!) and so on. For $25 shipped it wasn’t a bad deal, really. I ended up keeping the flip case for the video, plus a stereo voice recorder which was kinda neat even though I’m not sure when I’ll ever use it. I’ll probably put the rest on eBay or something. Anyone want some iPod crap? iPod crap! Getcher iPod crap!
I came up with a yum new drink today. I made a mug of Chai, but instead of the standard 50/50 milk/water, I used 50/35/15 water/milk/eggnog. (Okay, it wasn’t that precise, but it’s close) It was very tasty indeed! It was like drinking warm Christmas. I guess I could call it Chai Nog.
I’ve already taken half a dozen calls this morning. Mornings are usually the slowest period, but that many calls pretty much tells me this is going to be yet another relatively hectic day – which has described every day this week so far. It’s quite odd considering this is supposed to be a relatively slow period. Not that this is bad on a corporate level of course, but us lowly cogs get to deal with all the messy stuff. Yay gruntwork!
At least after 4pm, when things generally quiet down and I’ve got this little section of the office to myself, I get to whip out my PDA* and watch another episode of Night Court Season 1. Og, I love that show. I wish they’d come out with the remaining episodes. They did come out with some “classics” to test the waters for a season 2 release. That was early this year though. I hope they release the remaining seasons. There is some shady character selling the complete show on region-free DVD, but I question the quality, not to mention the legitimacy of such an endeavor.
I forgot to set my alarm clock last night. As did Roomie. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth this morning, not to mention a brief scuffle over who would get the shower first.
And MamaT, thank you for reminding me to cancel my dentist appointment for Saturday. I thought I had some huge problem and made an appointment, and it turned out to be a piece of popcorn really stuck into my gum. I don’t hate the dentist as much as most people, but it still doesn’t mean I want to go at 8 on a Saturday morning.
gt, Ophie has strict instructions about how much pedalling she has to do, especially as there are poorly MMPers and there’s the Grampuses and all sorts of others who need her help. Those little legs are going to be needing a rest when she comes out of the cattery on Tuesday!
LiLi - Attacks Things Randomly Husband seems to fit the bill, can you have him here in time for Hexmas? I’ll happily giftwrap 'im indoors for you (Very Good at PC Games, Tries Washing Dishes but Fails Miserably, Terminally Untidy, Lovely Accent).
Yes, it’s true. After demonstrating the true meaning of ‘manclean’, i’m indoors has spent a fair while proving that there is also a definition of ‘mantidy’. It’s nothing like any definition of tidy I’ve ever seen…
Sweetums, perhaps you could come and apply some tinfoil to his computer cubbyhole and convince him of the error of his untidy ways?
Woohoo! I’m going home in an hour! I have to put Ophie in her pet carrier. Can somebody stand by with the tourniquet, please?
Next time just take the showers together. Saves time, saves water, and bonus to the rest of us if you take pictures (or describe it. Slowly).
BooBooFae the roof was done on Friday. Eight guys who spoke only Spanish poured out of a pickup truck at 8 a.m. and were finished and gone by 4 p.m. They did a great job. I’ve got the siding guys here now.
The work they have done so far is great. I took a look at it this morning (when the sun was up) before I came to work. (It’s too dark to see anything when I get home). But they are taking so damn long. Work was supposed to start Monday. The supplies were dropped off Tuesday morning, and one guy worked for an hour that day. Yesterday, one guy showed up at 9 and worked until 3:30, and two others worked a couple of hours in the middle of that period. My stepdaughter-to-be called at 8:30 this morning to tell me that one guy showed up then and started working.
We pulled all the shutters off last night. We’re going to clean them, and paint them a different color. They are some kind of faded baby blue now, and when we’re done with them they will be Behr Paint’s Thorny Birch[SUP]TM[/SUP]. It should go well with the white trim and Tuscan Clay[SUP]TM[/SUP] siding.
Ah yes, the Ancient Order of the Turtles. Back when I started my first job in the Bus World, my VP introduced me to Pops. Pops was the nickname of the sweetest, kindest 80-something year old man you ever met. Pops, in the 40’s was a highly decorated flyer with the Tuskegee Airmen and was at the time, a trainer for the bus company - responsible for training people to be bus drivers.
The first words out of Pop’s mouth as he shook my hand were “Are you a Turtle Sir”?
Have fun on your trip BooFae and welcome Sweetums.
Congrats gt on your raises. Mo’ money is always mo’ better!
I don’t think I 'll see a bonus this year. Ah well. Can’t get 'em every year. It would have been nice though, especially with Christmas coming. I received a top-blocked performance appraisal, but this boss is sort of new to supervising civilians. Additionally, it’s very tacky to even ask.
Most of the snow and ice has melted off. There are still some very slick spots. The parking lot was an ice skating rink, for example. Overall, though, the commute was good and I even got to go the speed limit today.
Well, I should work now. Not that I want to, but, I should. I need to win a big-ass Lotto or something…
This morning I have assisted in the manufacturing of boxes and had a conversation concerning the re-traying of peanut butter. Seems that peanut butter is packaged in groups of twelve in trays before shipping. That would be like 12 jars of smooth in a tray, 12 jars of crunchy in a tray see. Well, it actually needs to be shipped with 6 jars of each in a tray, thus the need for re-traying. Sounds fun don’t it? Ima go look at it tomorrow and put in a bid. Mopheads, mophandles, boxes, bags, round rubber thingys and peanut butter. My life is varied. Weird, but varied.
Gah! I meant to congratulate Drae! I really did! So, congratulations! You have more determination than me. I don’t think I could sit down and write that much.
I need to get off my butt and go to the post office so I can mail these be-damned newsletters. I will be glad to have them out of the way. The cat suite is full of catfights - well, cat arguments - this morning. Sugar Magnolia is stalking Magic. Cricket is slapping anyone who comes near her. What is the deal here?
A cattery? Is that a place for religious cats? Are cats even religious. Ponder these questions cool kids.
It is really hot and muggy here. Way too hot and muggy for November 30th. This is usually a harbinger for ugly weather. The kind of weather that is all tornadoy.
SCL - less of the “poor Ophelia”, please! She’s going to the cattery because I’m going to Belgium for the weekend, and the very nice people at Bourton House Pet Hotel will feed and fuss her until I’m back again. Not to mention the toys, treats, fleecy bed and personal heater…that cat’s spoilt, I tell you, spoilt!
swampy - cats are not religious, unless it involves the Worship of Cats! Ophelia knows the cattery is a place she goes so that she can be pampered in the style that befits her, and she gets the adoration of all the cattery-slaves into the bargain.
