And I like what I am seeing so far. Do you think its to much to ask that after a century this time around they will have an actual story arc with an ending?
Resolution was never exactly a strength of the X-Files. Given that it’s a six-episode arc, I imagine it will end more decisively than the original series did, but too much certainty would spoil the sense of mystery and hence the fun (not to mention closing the door to future miniseries).
I can’t wait.
I want at least 2-3 stand alone episodes that are awesome. I don’t care about the mytharc storyline.
I would settle for ANY standalone awesome episodes. The X-Files were always at their best when they tackled individual stories in individual episodes, your Monsters Of The Week. I could APPRECIATE why Mulder was all into the UFOs and how they kidnapped his sister, and The Truth Is Out There, but their steadfast refusal to resolve any of the damn story arcs killed it for me. Introduce NEW mysteries if you must, but sooner or later, you HAVE TO TELL THEM WHAT THE DAMN SMOKE MONSTER IS!
I posted that yesterday, in the orginal thread. I loved the preview and I’m excited. I got a chill hearing the music at the end.
Despite the last season sucking pretty badly, I’m hyped to see this.
It’s been a long time since I watched the originals, but wasn’t the smoking man dead?
Holy fuck that looks good!
I don’t think six episodes is enough to allow for a standalone episode. But I’m way delighted that Smoking Man is back!
Yes… he took a rocket to the face while simultaneously dying of cancer!
Cool! Who’s the old bearded guy Mulder talks with on the street - one of the Lone Gunmen?
The Lone Gunmen are coming back, but it doesn’t look like any of them, unless they aged Dean Haglund. I wondered if it were some kind of stand-in for Deep Throat (Jerry Hardin, who at 85 may be too old to come back).
On a side note, I read Reyes is returning…
