This was the first really good X-Files I have seen in a long time. The Lone Gunmen are always great, and I was glad to see them incorporate TLG’s series history into the teaser.
Also I did not expect the ending.
Good for them. sniff
There was none of Scully’s asinine tearful soliloqueys, none of Reyes’ obnoxious psychic visions, and no aliens, supersoldiers, or Big Bad Conspiracies. An original story for once. Groovalicious.
I would have liked to have seen a closing shot of Mulder’s back as he watched everyone else walk away from the coffins. Mulder was always the one who believed in them the most, and I felt his absence from the funeral was not right.
I know DD is not going to appear until the last episode, but it would have been a nice touch for the fans for Mulder to risk his life by coming out of hiding to pay his respects for his fallen friends.

Worst episode ever. Rest assured, I was on the Internet within minutes, registering my disgust throughout the world.

Well, maybe not that bad. They did wrap up the LG storylines in a meaningful way, but I wish they didn’t end up dying…
BTW, the name of this episode was “Jumping the Shark.” That, coupled with the same reference on the Simpsons an hour earlier, indicates the Fox must be dumping their entire line-up.
Jumping the shark is when a good series goes bad. Named for when Fonzi actually jumped over a shark in a tank on his motercylce. That marked the end of good episdes of the Happy Days in the minds of most people.
I NEVER gave up on the X-Files…yes, this has got to be the best episode of the season…damn, I got teary when they died…heck I even loved the spin off ‘Lone Gunman’ show but like someone was saying in another x-files thread, I don’t think they’re dead yet…you saw the coffin but no body…conspiracy!!! I can’t wait till’ next sunday…I will forever miss x-files…my most favoritestest show

I loved TLG series for its tiny lifespan, and seeing these guys go down is just another appearance of CC blowing away everything so there’ll be no more loose ends. I get the image of Carter running around like Cecil B. DeMille, screaming “We built these sets, created these characters! Now burn 'em all for the final act!”
As to whether they’re dead or not… I don’t think they’ll be coming back. Jimmy would have followed the corpses into the crematorium if he could; I doubt he’d let anyone fool around with their bodies.
Tonight during 24 they ran an ad for the upcoming last four episodes of X-Files in which everything will be revealed. They claim. But, assuming they’re really dead, the Lone Gunmen won’t be around to help find the answers, or to even know about them. Kind of a bummer.
