'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' Trailer out!

The trailer is out here.

What’s your reaction? I’m excited to see more superheroes, but doesn’t an origins story usually only focus on the one hero? Like X3, it seems like they are going to throw a ton of heroes at us and defend it by saying, “That’s what the fans want.”

So weigh in.

PS, can someone more knowledgeable than me please spoiler the real origins story of Wolverine?

Origin.

Can someone go over the other characters in the trailer for a non comic book nerd? I recognized gambit from watching the old saturday cartoon but thats it.

It looks like the film has:

Dazzler
Gambit
Deadpool
Wraithe
Blob
Silver Fox
Storm
and a couple of others.

Yay, Deadpool!

Okay, it’s not a Cable and Deadpool movie, but I’m still happy to see he’s going to be in it.

IMDB sez:

Deadpool - Ryan Reynolds
Sabretooth - Liev Schreiber
Beak - Dominic Monaghan
Silver Fox - Lynn Collins
Gambit - Taylor Kitsch
The Blob - Kevin Durand
John Wraith - Will i Am(?)

The big dud with the fangs is Sabertooth, just a younger one than we saw in the first X-Men movie. Looks like he’ll be talking in this one.

Possible spoiler, I don’t know.

Furthermore, I think it’s hinted that he killed Wolverine’s wife, which is a large part of what led him to join Weapon X.

Gambit, of course, you saw.

Another character is The Blob. It’s unclear if he plays a major part or not. Apparently he gets into a boxing match with Wolverine. This is basically a battle until one of them falls asleep or gets bored, because neither one can really hurt the other. Well, maybe, Wolverine could cut the Blob with his claws. Maybe.

I believe the girl who turned bright white for a second is the Silver Fox. In the comics, she and Wolvie were friends (lovers?) during his days in Weapon-X, but in this movie I’m not sure.

The trailer didn’t show it, but apparently Deadpool will be there. I hope they brought in the character wholesale. He’s the “merc with a mouth”, a takeoff of DCU’s Deathstroke the Terminator, but funny and hell, insane as all-get-out, and who routinely violates the Fourth Wall. He’d actually be a much nicer guy, except that he’s been emotionally violated so many times his mind is fractured like a broken mirror. He’s sort of an antihero, and he never helps out the villains… in the end, anyway.

Other character include Beak, who I know nothing about, Agent Zero, who apparently is a super-strong dude designed specifically to kill animalistic types like Wolverine and Sabertooth, and Weapon XI. The Weapons in Marvel comics are basically the msot lethal anti-mutant killinbg machines you can imagine.

Okay, confused. Looks like Gambit’s supposed to be a bad guy in this? I’m not much of a Marvel follower, but that seems … Wrong somehow.

Holy crap that’s a hot mess. I stopped reading X-Men et al circa 1996, and I don’t remember all this “James” B.S. WTF?!

Hes one of the black eyed peas.

Perfect.

I’m pretty sure that he was the guy at 0:39 of the trailer (the youtube version, anyway) - the guy in red dual-wielding swords.

Powers-wise, he’s a nobody. In the Exiles, he was basically Ma-Ti, most effective when he was recruiting allies.

I want a daddy like Liev Schreiber.:stuck_out_tongue:

Not bad. I hope if Gambit is indeed a villain in the movie, that he ends up teaming up with Wolverine in the end. I liked that footage of Logan at D-Day. Hopefully those scenes of him at war won’t be too rushed.

I hope Gambit’s not a villian I love him too much. He should be more of a rogue player looking out for himself and then end up helping Wolverine towards the end.

Ooh, I love Liev Schreiber. Cool that he’s made it into a fun movie for a change. He usually does indy thoughtful stuff.

I was reading on another Message Board that Its actually Emma Frost and not Dazzler in the movie

That would really screw up the timeline, I think.

Sorry, I can’t take anything that refers to “British Colombia” seriously.

Am I the only one who gets a blank white page for the “Origin” site?
