Wow. I quit reading comics in 93 I think and now I remember why. That story is more convoluted than a daytime soap opera.
Seriously. I quit about the time you did. I knew he got his adamantium yanked out as some point. Then got it back, blah, blah. Maybe this is my history and memories, maybe they aren’t! I want a comic book geek friend who will just tell me what’s going on. I can’t stand actually sitting still and reading it all.
I saw what you did there
I like Schreiber, too, but I think he’s awfully miscast physically for this role. Sabretooth should be a big guy. Especially since Jackman is a tall Wolverine.
It’s definitely Emma Frost. She apparently has her diamond form in the movie, which is what you’re seeing. Definitely not Dazzler.
Looks like they pretty much crammed anyone in this movie that they could. I’m sure it’ll be goofy and fun.
If it’s Emma (and it looks like it is) then they are seriously messing with the timeline. Wolverine was an X-man of long standing when Genosha got zapped and Emma discovered her “secondary” mutation.
That trailer looks great! I can’t wait for the movie.
Deviating from the comics timeline is nothing new for the X-Men movies. Off the top of my head, Cyclops and Jean Grey are way older than Ice Man and Angel, who weren’t founding X-Men, and of course there was no All-New, All-Different team.
Getting back to the subject of whether the film will be any good - anybody know anything about the director?
Gaving Hood is apprently coming out of the B-list movies, although he also has Rendition and Tsotsi to his credit. He’s never done anything like this kind of flick before. We have, of course, several other B-listers gone good in the fantasy/superhero/sci-fi categories.
This looks like exactly the movie I was hoping for, which is Wolverine: The Search for Logan’s Shirt, with special guest star Tim Riggins and some other folks. X-Men comic continuity is screwy beyond a point where I can care about it, so I imagine they’ll just try to avoid anything that conflicts with what the other X-Men movies have established and not worry about the rest.
I only recognized a couple, most of whom have been named, already - Blob, Emma, Storm, Sabretooth, Gambit (of course), Silver Fox - but the guy who shoots Wolvie after he pops out of the tank (or appears to, anyway…who knows with trailer editing) is apparently Maverick/Agent Zero - who’s white in the comics, not Asian, but they’ve switched him from German to Korean for the movie, which presumably means the Weapon X parts are set moderately close to the present.
The trailer cuts out at 18 seconds for me.
One other thought while I’m here - I don’t like Blob’s makeup job. It’s so obviously a fat suit it hurts.
If they couldn’t make it look less obviously fake, I’d really prefer they’d have given up on his being grotesquely huge (like they did on Wolverine being humorously short) and just hired a fat actor, and maybe use makeup to add a couple pounds to him.
Yeah, I was wondering if this is the same universe as the X-Men movies. I also wonder if there’s the slightest possibility of crossovers with other Marvel movies, like FF or something.
I’m under the impression that the Avengers/Ultimates movies and the X-Men movies have to be kept separate, because of who has the rights to the different series. And as far as I’m concerned, the Fantastic Four movies should be left to rot.
I agree with Tengu about the Blob’s fat suit, but oh man I am so looking forward to that boxing match.
Beats me. I thought I read somewhere Marvel had finally wrestled its rights to all the movies.
I knew someone was going to hate on the FF movies. Oh, well. I like 'em.
YouTube has it in full and hi-quality.
MySpace and ComingSoon suck with this trailer today.
BTW, does X-Men Origins: [insert name here] imply there might be other origin stories? Storm has an interesting background, and I wouldn’t mind seeing some younger Xavier & Magneto action.
