I think the Yanks may have a secret strategy of making the 'Backs overconfident. Or maybe they’re trying to wear out Randy Johnson by making him run the bases over and over again. Maybe Jerry Colangelo had a secret anti-Yankee death ray installed in BOB. There is no normal explanation for this.
It’s too early to say they have it in the bag but they’re steamrollering the Yanks so far. That’s one thing but to see every player in the lineup get at least one hit by the third inning is amazing. Randy Johnson getting two for two with an RBI is un-freaking-believable. He’s getting better but his lack of batting skill was made into a Nike commercial.
Okay, the big unit finally struck out in the fourth. The universe probably won’t collapse on itself now. Yanks have retired a second pitcher before the middle of the game.
Umm. They pushed across run number 15 in, I believe the 4th. It wasn’t until it was 15-0 that the Yankees managed to score.
Hee, hee!
Doesn’t matter who ultimately wins (although I’d LOVE to see the Yankees go down) - I think the Diamondbacks have proven that they’re the better team. They beat themselves - the Yankees never beat them.
Howdy Lizard King. Glad to see another Pheonix Doper. You’ll have to attend the next local fest.
Amazing game. The most hits ever in a world series game, broke the old record by two. Matt Williams is the only one ever to get two doubles in the same inning of a WS game. Randy Johnson is the first pitcher to score two runs in the WS since '68.
Yes, I realized that after posting. After 9-0, I wasn’t exactly following every pitch. It was obvious after the first inning that Pettitte didn’t have it.
OK.
Let’s see if I have this reasoning correct. When the Diamondbacks groove pitches that the Yankees take deep, that’s the Diamondbacks beating themselves. But when Yankee pitching is practically throwing BP, that’s not the Yankees beating themselves, is it. Makes sense to me.
And if the Diamondbacks want to prove they’re the better team, it’s easy: just tell them to go out and win 4 more World Series in the next 5 years.
I spent six weeks in Phoenix last winter and was impressed by the fact that people there seem to regard the D-Backs owner as a pretty good guy - especially compared to the Cardinals owner.
And cheering for the Rockies wasn’t much fun last season
I think I just got the magical double-digit post count!
Congratulations to the Yankees on a series hard fought, and well played.
Driving home cars kept honking as I drove past, and I kept checking to make sure my headlights were on.
Fastest Franchise to win a World Series. Now, that’s something.
