yet another jarts thread

With spring in the air, we’ve broken out the Jarts and have been playing quite a bit lately. I have a set of Jarts that is in pretty good condition, despite having lots of years behind them. However, the plastic “flights” (the fin part, in case you don’t know) are starting to get tiny nicks and cracks that I know are just going to grow. Duct tape will likely fix this problem (in fact I had another old set that was given lots of extra miles from this miracle cure), but this will only last so long.

After some searching, I was able to find, amazingly enough, a site devoted entirely to jarts–people selling, buying, etc. (www.jarts.com) There were some sets for sale, but I really only want the flights. Plus, the prices were a bit steep for a small piece of plastic for a toy.

So, I was wondering. Might it be possible to have a mock-up replacement flight made? Or would this be too cost-prohibitive? How would one go about doing this? Who would one contact?

Or, should I just suck it up and drop the dough on the website I had found? Thanks for the help!

Isn’t it illegal to sell those in the US?

Yes, I believe so, but I’m going under the assumption that buying the plastic accessories isn’t illegal. I could be wrong. But since it’s not the metal spikey part that I need, I’m hoping that the flights are OK to still buy.
