Yet Another Mundane and Pointless MMP

I decided to be productive and made some fries, so we supped upon bbq sammiches, slaw, and fries. Go Me!

I like Coke and Pepsi, preferably the diet kind of both. I will buy whichever is on sale because I am, above all, [del]cheap[/del] thrifty.

Nava yay for the nephew! Looks like he’s found his callin’.

Moooom, I rarely drink cola, so’s I don’t really have a dog in the fight. However, once in a while, I like a diet SunDrop, which means (around here at least) it’s a Coke product. More often than not, when I go to a sit down restaurant, it’s unsweet tea or water if beer, wine, liquor or selzer isn’t available. At the drive thru, it’s tea.

nava, it sounds like your nephew has the aptitude to do almost anything involving human relations. However, a lot of kids benefit from strong male role models in their formative years, so primary school teaching is a very honorable profession.

I got the stuff to the recycling center, then did a little junking. I found a thrift store I wasn’t aware of in teh 'Boro. They had an 80% off sale on clothes and furniture. I found no furniture that I could get home on my own, but picked up a pair of khakis and a nice blouse along with a paper towel holder and some crafty stuff. My bill: $4.23.

I had some trimmings from poke chops, broccoli and carrots in teh fridge, so’s I made poke and broccoli stir fry over noodles. Twas good.

My wife says Da Jungle is just like football -------- tons of rules they just make up as they go along to confuse people.

What? You don’t approve of Gramma Rose’s old expressions? Watch out she may just come and haunt your tukas.

He just <ahem> slugged it out on his own.

Heathens ----- all of you. Any civilized person knows its RC Cola.

And a Moon-Pie

Did a history program with Slippery Rock U today fairly north of us; Ya gotta love grant money. Dinner was potstickers. Other than that relaxing from sorta-working my day off so tomorrow I can go to irk and work my other day off.

Slippery Rock?! I’ll be. I did a summer school program there once back in high school. I’d forgotten all about it until you said the name. I remember it was hot and humid to a West Coast girl, and the dorms seemed huge. I had a blast. The bookstore had some great sci-fi.

Mooommm, was you at Bob Evans or the Olympia Restaurant?

I’ve got a firsthand brag.

One of my silly goals for 2016 was to do a race a month. An injury kiboshed that so I made that a 2017 goal. Well, I had to [del]race[/del] participate/run with a number on by the end of last Feb if I wanted to make that goal despite having only been allowed to run for a few weeks after 5½ months out. I participated & finished, not DiFfLe. That’s about all you could say of my performance. :frowning: I couldn’t even run the whole thing & those parts that I did run were more of a shuffle run rather than a real stride.

They had that event (kinda-sorta; same course, new name, new charity) again today. 5k/3 miles. The rain started about 30 seconds after the race did. My results were a little better today now that I’m back in some shape - over 13 minutes faster than last year & I could’ve pushed harder, but it wouldn’t have changed the results as I couldn’t do any better than 1st place (AG)!!!

Nava, great info about the nephew. Amazing what can be done if you have the time and patience to listen. Good on him and he has plenty of time left to decide on a career.

Spidey, I’ve never understood this devotion some have to running; I find walking or driving to be perfectly suitable alternatives…

I am also a Pepsi drinker, but won’t turn down a Coke. When working I’d usually start my day with a Mountain Dew for my caffeine fix.

Indoor soccer is done, 39 games refereed in 7 weeks, so now we can start thinking outdoors. Treated myself to Olive Garden and stopped at the gas station so both belly and tank are full.

Moooom, ruble’s right, they still make RC cola. There’s even a local festival devoted to that and the moon pie http://bellbucklechamber.com/bell-buckle-rc-moonpie-festival-general-info/ . As my mom used to say, almost communion for rural southerners.

A friend hated TAB. So much so he dropped a can over the balcony 24 stories. Think Wile E. Coyote, complete with the poof cloud on impact.

A thing of beauty.

Misses the Canes game because of work, but they didn’t show up either so there’s that. 20 hours of work till my mid-weekend.

I prefer Coke, because rum and Pepsi is nasty.

Congrats! And Navanephew sounds like a great fit for a teacher.

Congrats, Spidey!

Bumba, don’t go hating on Iron Chef Alex.

Yes. I see it in stores regularly.

My day featured over 8 hours in ER. I was the patient.

I’m home now, doctor thinks I’ll be just fine. Details after I’ve slept. Too wrung out for a coherent story.

Happy Sunday!

It’s not so terribly cold outside, but still wet and rainy.
It’s supposed to get up into the 60s today.

I’m up too early, thank you bladder.
I tried to go back to sleep, but then Ripple ran to the back door growling so I had to get up to check it out.
Now he’s snoring away and I’m still up.

Nothing special to do today.
Irk, proofread an assignment for the son, maybe do some laundry.

Nice to see you Alien!

Yay! Spidey

RC Cola reminds me of my great grandfather.
RC Cola and circus peanuts.
I can’t even think about circus peanuts without getting queasy.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 66 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 79 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse for the day. Today is a large day church wise. Deheathenization this mornin’, and Jim’s funeral this afternoon at four with a reception to follow. I expect it will be a large and in charge funeral. We shall arrive earlyish to get a seat. He will be interred tomorrow mornin’ at ten a.m. TWPTB say it will be stormy tomorrow. Anywho, what with deheatenization, funeralizin’, and figurin’ out the consumption of N.O.L. it will be a long day.

Spidey congrats!

{{{Nettie}}} hope you’re feelin’ better today.

RC Cola does indeed exist. I like the diet kind and sometimes buy some.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Purtification for deheathenization and funeralizin’ must also commence at some point.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. It’s supposed to be nice today.

Next time I’m in Food Lion, I’ll have to see if they carry RC - I don’t want any, I’m just curious now.

My bro used to really *LOVE *TAB - to the point that he managed to find a supply of it even when it had been replaced by Diet Coke. Bottom line, taste buds are odd things. I remember in 9th grade, the teacher came around and gave each of us a tiny strip of paper to put on our tongues - everyone in the class, save one girl, found it bitter and nasty. She didn’t taste anything. According to Mr. McGuire, it depended on whether your body produced a certain (I think) enzyme.

Moving on - another foggy morning. “Tammy” emailed last night that she’d be coming today for the doors. My sis is supposed to be here after lunch with the friend who wants the accordion. I’ve got a dozen eggs being hard-cooked as I write this, and once they’re cooled, I’ll peel 'em and toss 'em into a container for easy access.

Thus beginneth my day. Happy Sunday!!

Miserably rainy outside.

Everybody is napping, so I am enjoying the quiet.

I know I have some Thank You notes around here somewhere so my son can write one out to my cousin. She was on the phone with him for an hour last night talking about owning a business.
I’m going to send her something too, probably from Amazon because Sherries Berries charges almost as much for the delivery fee as the item itself.
He has to finish typing up his paper and then I will proofread it.

{{{Swampy}}} I’m sorry about your friend.

Tomorrow is grocery shopping day so I have to get that order in sometime today.
I have a dr appt on Thorsday, nothing serious, just a follow up to the underactive thyroid. I don’t know if he is going to write a script or not. I’ve been on and off thyroid meds since I was 18. One dr will say I need it, then another will say I don’t. I’m always borderline underactive.

Its no St Olaf College but a pretty fun place and I’ve been lucky enough to do a bunch of things with them over the years. In my experience a lot of the smaller places can beat the heck out of like a Penn State or Pitt when it comes to making education fun and being a large part of the community.

And Yankee Ridge-runners. I still snag it a lot at the one gas-n-go-rip-off-centers for 99 cents a two liter on a regular basis. About the only thing I buy there.

Heretic!!!

**sari **- apparently you’re getting all the rain we were supposed to see. Altho judging by the puddle in the driveway, we got some overnight. Looks like our next good chance for precip is Thursday - we shall see.

**FCD **just headed out on an errand. I think I’ll mosey back to the bedrooms and try to bring a bit more order to the chaos. There’s not a lot left to do, but I just don’t feel like doing it.

doggio, enough rum could make almost any beverage tolerable.

{{{nteeie}}}

Moooom, TAB was made up until early in this century. It existed alongside diet Coke until the time Coke Zero came out. Not all retailers carried it, but it was still made.

It’s another wet day. I met another neighbor when I took Nelson out for his morning constitutional. It’s funny how getting off your butt to walk a cute little dog will get folks to stop to talk with you. :stuck_out_tongue: There’s not much going on today so I’ll do the usual chores and mess around in the studio.
