Yet another song identification question

I was at the grocery store today, and heard a song that is definitely from the 1990s or before, because I used to hear it then, but never found out who did it or what it’s called.

It has a female lead singer, possibly the Pointer Sisters but I’m not sure, and the line “always do what you say you will do” or something similar is sung multiple times.

Can this hivemind help me?

The mention of the pointer sisters and the meter of that line reminded me of that song “hes so shy”, by them. Not sure if thats it, the hook just repeats he’s so shy…

That’s not it. It’s not “Automatic”, either. I know the artist and title for both of those songs.

Typing those lyrics into Spotify gives B*Witched singing C’est la Vie …. Could be miles off though?!

Try Charity Gayle “I Believe.”

That song came up more than everything else put together when I entered the lyrics into Google. The one I’m asking about is not a gospel song.

Probably not it, but the song that came to my mind is Wanna Be Starting Something by Michael Jackson. It has the following repeated many times:

Ma-ma-se, ma-ma-sa, ma-ma-coo-sa

Since it’s gibberish your mind could have put real words to it. And could be thought of as a Pointer Sisters type song.

This is definitely sung by a woman.
