Yo, MADs! Ready for snow?

I was thinking of the Office Depot at Perring. If they’re closed, Metro is probably open. They’re open 24 hours. And there’s a Blockbuster right across the street.
Belair Road is too far to walk.
And I think I’ve changed my mind about walking anyway. It’s gotten colder and windier.
I’ll get my husband to take me tomorrow in his truck. It’s 4WD.

And I also need to go out and clean out around my gutters and sweep off my awnings so they don’t get pulled down from the weight of the snow.
And I don’t have snow pants, either!

I wasn’t sure where you were exactly. I’m about 6 minutes from White Marsh, but in the other direction!

I’m REALLY wishing I had snow pants! The snow is up to my porch. It’s hilarious! I sweep the snow off of my porch and instead of sweeping it down, I’m sweeping it up! I let my dog out and I couldn’t see her at first. I was scared she got buried! She’s not dumb though, she stayed real close to the house where the overhang from the roof keeps the accumulation down.

I’m probably going to figure out a way to get my gutters cleared, too. The only boots I have are hiking boots! Not real high. But, a girl does what a girl has to do!

My husband is at our cabin in Virginia and I think they’re getting clobbered even worse than we are (if that’s possible). At least he has 4WD drive. I’m going to be pretty homebound with a Honda!

This is what it looked like in Frederick about 2:45 this afternoon. The snow hasn’t slowed down at all; if anything, it’s picked up a bit in the last couple of hours.

Our dog tears around the house in excitement everytime she comes in from the backyard.

Thanks for the picture, DarkWriter! This is some storm!!!

Wowsers-I had no idea that there were so many Baltimore area dopers! Will a get together be scheduled after the Spring thaw?

I was just out wandering around.

The CVS is still open; they’ve got a couple of bulldozers working continuously to clear the parking lot and even they can’t keep up.

It really doesn’t feel all that cold, unless you face directly into the wind.

I passed a VW van parked on Cedar Lane; its back windows had been left open and mini-drifts were piling up inside! Wouldn’t want to be in its owner’s shoes.

If it continues to snow at this intensity for 12 more hours, we’ll hit 30 inches easily.

dances - I didn’t realize there were so many people from Baltimore here, either!

Neidhart - I just heard on the news (in the Baltimore area, anyway), we may be looking at 3 FEET+!

It’s almost impossible to tell how much accumulation we’ve had down here, because it’s blowing every which way - off the roof into the yard, off the yard down into the woods behind the house, off any high point to a lower place.

But a yardstick in the driveway goes in 10" deep, on the back deck it’s 12", and in the back yard it’s 14". And still it comes down.

Mrs. F. and I had a fun time today, rearranging furniture between two rooms in our house. Didn’t need to go anywhere. We’ll probably do something about dinner soon, then watch Matthew Broderick as The Music Man on ABC.

We already have 13+ inches in Atlantic City, NJ. It’s a blizzard out there!

Yes, I’ve been listening to Channel 11 and they keep saying 3 feet. It’s supposed to keep snowing at this rate till tomorrow afternoon.

They also said the roof of the American Legion Hall in Frederick collapsed, but no one was hurt. Is that near you, DarkWriter?

My hubby just came home and is snowblowing the driveway out. Thank God.

Make that 13 to 15 inches, with drifts above 20! This is something South Jersey hasn’t seen in twenty-some years!

In the parking lot of my condo building, the cars are half buried in snow. It’s gonna be fun digging them out.

.

Does this mean Aaron is going to have a baby sister or brother in nine months?

::d&r::

I don’t see that there’s any hurry in clearing the driveway. If I do that, they’ll just plow more snow into it whenever the plows finally make it into the neighborhood again. If I don’t shovel, then their Wall of Snow across the end of my driveway protects me when they come through again.

Besides, everything’s closed, and the Guv’s told us all to stay home. I didn’t vote for him, nor will I the next time, but it’s the right call.

Here in Pittsburgh, it’s been snowing heavily and steadily all day, and they’re calling for a foot by morning. On the news they said you folks in Baltimore have got 18 inches of snow and and they’ve declared a state of emergency. After the dire predictions for Friday night which didn’t materialize, I think everyone here’s pretty well stocked up, but I think I’m glad I don’t have to go to work tomorrow. On the other hand, there’s been a flock of robins that have been flitting about looking for shelter.

Take care of yourselves down there, and stay warm!

Well gosh darn it, this just HAD to be the week my Boss had a little talk with me about the charts stacking up in the office and I promised to finish them over the 3-day weekend. Which means I came in to work yesterday and I am still here…and will be here tomorrow too. On the up-side, I think there is more food here than at my house, I got plenty of hot tea and pretzels and if I get desperate I can break into the 2 boxes on Girl Scout thin mints I bought the other day and never took home. In fact, a friend of mine sent me some pajamas as a gift and they are just sitting in my office too. Got a TV and radio and lots of batteries. I think I’ll just go stretch out on an exam table for awhile. Tell me again why I need a house away from here???

They keep giving out a phone number on the TV for people who need emergency supplies like baby formula and insulin.
Do you think I’d get in trouble if I called them up and asked for a ream of paper and a printer cartridge?

Course not, Biblio!!! Have them bring you a nice bottle of Merlot while they’re at it!

Holy lowfront, Batman! There’s a lot of snow out here. Apparently we just broke the record for our area, and it’s still pounding down. We have friends that live on a catamaran down in Annapolis, and they have to keep shoveling snow off of the fabric part between their hulls (don’t know what the nautical term for it is), so it doesn’t fail.

Darkwriter, our dog is leaping about in joy and tearing around the house whenever she comes in, too.

I’m snowed in at work in McLean. Our company set us up in the Hilton, so that’s cool. Looks like we’ll have to stay here and man the network untill more people make it in (whenever that is).

But we’re doing fine. I was out in the Jeep goofing in the snow covered parking lots. Doing donuts, plowing through snow drifts, and just generally scaring the horses. Weeeeeee! I probably shouldn’t be allowed out of the house without a keeper.
I just called my girlfriends at home. They’ve been shoveling like crazy trying to keep the driveway cleared. They said that all total so far is 21" in Harpers Ferry. (that’s including the 4-5" we got Fri/Sat). After I told them how much fun we’re having down here, she decided that I Sucked. :stuck_out_tongue:
Anyone heard from JC and family? He lives just up the road from me a ways. Hope he’s doing okay.

Dumfries/Woodbridge, VA checking in here. We’ve got about 14 inches or so, mainly last night, since we seem to be on that magic rain/snow/nothing line. Mr. Ben went out once to clean off the cars (his philosophy being that it’s easier to remove 12" twice than 24" once) but otherwise we’ve been housebound since last night. Thankfully the internet connection has been holding up, so we’ve gotten some quality Socom Online time in.
