My husband sailed the boat up in July - he’s living aboard and working here while I’m living in FL with our daughter until she graduates (May 04)
I picked a heck of a weekend to visit, huh?

I’m in Baltimore also and the thunder woke me up! The first thing I thought was that someone had set off a bomb! I had no idea it could thunder in the snow. I quickly came downstairs and put on the TV and heard the term “thunder snow”.
I’ve had cleared a path for my dog to get into the yard from the deck, but it’s totally covered again in less than an hour.
This is going to be a BIG snowstorm! I love it!
Ooops! still asleep. Take out that “had” in the second sentence. Or, just chalk it up to snow on the brain.
I think I got my wish! There’s probably two feet of accumulation if you include the stuff that was already on the ground.
Woot!
You picked a great weekend to visit, IMO.
I love the snow. I’d take this over Florida heat anyday.
IIRC, thunder in snowstorms is the same as thunder in rainstorms, as it is caused by the cloud to cloud static discharge. Should any doper have greater knowledge of meteorology, I’d welcome a better explanation.
I’m a summer person, and welcome open windows, breezes and the sounds of birds in the woods.
Unfortunately, I must deal with the present, and get the snowblower started to clear the driveway of the accumulation present, knowing I’ll revisit that project at least twice before tomorrow afternoon.
Poop.
I don’t know exactly how much we’ve had since last night. I’m thinking that I’ll go out and measure it when it stops.
Just got back from the supermarket with enough food to feed Patton’s Third Army and their kids.
Boy, is it awful out there. Later, we may bundle Aaron up and take him into the backyard so he can experience snow. He’s been in it before, but mostly from the house to the car. He’s never really seen it up close like this.
Robin
It’s never going to stop!!
Bwhahahaha!
It’s just after 2:00 and it’s still coming down like gangbusters. I love it. Time for more hot chocolate. Is it too early for Kahlua in the hot chocolate?
It’s never too early for Kahlua in the hot chocolate, but I prefer my Bailey’s.
Dave has had the car stuck in the driveway already today. I’m hoping he made a wide enough swath that I can go grocery shopping, because I know the stores will be deserted. Hell, I may even venture forth to White Marsh. Who wants to meet me for dinner?
White Marsh Mall and The Avenue are both closed.
I need paper for the printer so my daughter can do a school report. I was thinking of walking up to Office Depot (with a detour to Blockbuster), but it’s most likely closed, too.
Buncha wimps.
I LOVE THIS!!!
wets pants
Biblio - Giant Food has paper (Belair Road). I haven’t heard that the grocery stores have closed yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised!
Good luck!
Well. Maybe Weis is open.
Damned White Marsh. Sissies.
I have the Weather Channel on at the moment. National is closed, Dulles and BWI both have one runway open. National is currently reporting a wind chill of one below!
Oops, BWI is closed but they hope to have one runway open later tonight.
i just heard that i’m getting 18 to 24 inches up here…4 inches an hour (so there, o.p.) um yeah so this is more than we’ve had in entire winters the past few years!
i’m excited. oh and i hear maryland is getting 3 feet?
Ginger, will you be wearing the sandals?
I just took a listen to my air-nav radio. BWI is still reporting closed. Maybe they just haven’t updated the outgoing message.
I may wear shoes today, should I decide to venture forth. Dave didn’t drive the car back up the driveway when he got back, so I may not go anywhere. We called Weis, they’re not answering, and the Acme’s phone is ringing busy. What a pain.
I just heard someone on the news say to clean out around your gutters or the water won’t be able to drain as the snow melts later in the week and could cause flooding. Sounds like a good idea. I’m debating… I don’t have snow pants, so to get to where the gutters are, I’ll be wading in 3 foot drifts. What to do… what to do…
My poor dog is almost buried when she goes out! This is unreal.
