I would have been PO’d too **Swampy. ** You had every right to be.
I have somehow managed to seriously jack my back up. I don’t even know how I did it! I bent down slightly to drop some food scraps in the dog’s bowl, and the next thing you know I was in agony. I can’t sit, lie down, stand, or walk with any degree comfort. A friend gave me a muscle relaxer last night and it didn’t even touch the pain or “relax” my back in any way. Arrrgh!
You know, it’s embarrassing too. Someone asks, “How did you hurt your back?” and my responsie is “I bent over”. :dubious::o
I tried stretching, I tried heat, I don’t know what to do. If anything, my back feels worse today than yesterday. I am NOT old…I am NOT old…I am not OLD
Well, whatever, I have to deal with it today. Going to MiL’s for Easter dinner and tomorrow is another busy day at work. I can’t miss it either, because I’ve got to prepare for another Review and Analysis that is taking place on Wednesday.
Bobbio, just wow! Seriously, was the driver drunk or something?
Evenin’ all. Happy Easter to those that celebrate it!
A short week this week, thank Og! Hubby and I are taking a well-deserved, long overdue break and going to Cairo for a long, dirty weekend! We fly out Thursday and we are staying in the lovely Cairo Marriott (with casino attached, for hubby’s gambling pleasure) and I have already booked the Mercedes to take us to the hotel, and the couple’s aromatherapy oil massage for us when we arrive. Mmmmmmmm! HRH will stay with MIL (and the Housework Fairy) for the 4 days we are gone. I am torn between worry that she will cry nonstop without us, fear that she won’t want a bar of me when we get back, and guilt that I am so desperate to have some time off! Sigh …
Now if I can just make it through the next 3 days without killing anyone, we’ll all be okay!
MamaTigs, that Tina Shawl looks amazing - I don’t doubt that it would take a year to do!
Bobbio, just !
Doggio, hurrah for Nelly’s imminent return!
Hey swampus, wanna borrow my chitlins to thwack that guy with? Afterwards, you can just wash 'em out and cook 'em!
Taters, owie! It doesn’t matter how you hurt it - it’s the hurting that matters! Make it go away!!!
Dotty IMNSHO, chitlins are best for whackin’ not cookin’ and eatin. And yes I have tried ‘em. ICK! Though the fried ones, if done right are a ltttle like pork skins, so not so bad. The getaway sounds like tons o’ fun with lots of “appreciation” thrown in.
Home from churchification and am gonna go put garlic bread in the oven in a minute. Company is here so we’re having a toast in memory of JoeDawg and in honor of Easter then put on the feed bag.
Taters, I have one word for you: ICE. Ice works much, much better than heat. ICE, and then some gentle stretching.
Yay that Nelly’s coming back home!
I’m sure all of Cottonfield County is mourning the loss of all that booze. Now that is a real tragedy.
I can’t believe that guy would just volunteer you for a 6 am service, Swampy. I mean, really! There are some things that are just Not Done, and that is definitely one of them. I would give him a Stern Look while saying, “I never!” He needs to appreciate the full gravity of his social faux pas!
I had a very productive evening – not only got a nice big chunk of my latest job done (an interview of a textile artist for the Smithsonian Archives of American Art), but also got half the leg knit on one of these socks I’m a test knitter for. To make gauge, I had to drop down to a size 00 needle, though, 1.75 mm for you metric types. Yes, that’s teensy! They make 'em even smaller, though, down to 000-000 (yes, six zeroes), which are 0.7 mm. It must be like knitting with long sewing needles! Anyway, I’m really liking the pattern; she did a good job of designing it. The design, for instance, flows nicely from the ribbing at the top, unlike some patterns where the two are completely unrelated. One of those little details that doesn’t mean much to anybody else but sock knitters appreciate. Yes, we’re a bit obsessive, why do you ask?
Back to work. It’s either that or laundry, and I’m not feeling ambitious enough for laundry right now since it involves getting up from my chair. Yes, I am that lazy sometimes.
I’m feeling oddly productive. I went and got food (had to get coffee!) and I’ve now cleaned my bathroom sink and toilet and taken out a bunch of trash and did the dishes; next chore up is bleaching the kitchen sink. These white sinks are pretty but they stain if you look at them funny!
Please, everybody, cross your fingers that they won’t be cutting my hours. We were warned that it’s getting more and more possible.
The cat just flipped out; there was another cat outside. Can’t have that, now can we!
Years ago when I was still young and more flexible, I hurt my back sneezing. Granted, I was sitting in the back seat of a small car in an awkward position, but still, a sneeze? Yeah, embarrassing. And, no, there was no funny business going in. I was going somewhere with 2 friends, it was their car, and I was stuck with the back seat. Alone. Sneezing…
I helped the kids do their taxes - they’ll be about $700 to the good, plus Va owes daughter all her money back, too, so yay for that. We went to the marina - I love our new slip, even if we’re on a dock with all power boats. We won’t be moving today - the guy in the slip says it’s too windy. Hah - he’s got TWO engines, but he can’t move in a little breeze?? Wuss.
The house smells pot-roasterrific!! Supper will be good. Can’t wait!
WOOF! How you doin’! Oh like you thought I wouldn’t!
It’s been a nice day at da cave. We had a nice, although somewhat, heck, all the way, nontraditional Easter dinner. We ate, we drank, we laughed, we cried a little bit in memory of JoeDawg and just enjoyed each other’s company. All in all a nice way to spend an afternoon.
Now, I am winding down. Ol’ y’all know who is at his place doin’ laundry. I’m chillin’. I plan on goin’ sleepy bye around eightish cause tomorrow starts the 6:30am-3pm schedule. It’s been a nice three day weekend.
Here’s hopin’ everyone’s day has been a good one.
It’s weird not bein’ at work right now after bein’ use to Sunday’s at work. Not that I’m complainin’.
mmmmmmmmmmm good pot roast. Daughter did dishes, and the dishwasher is running now. I finished another dish cloth - I’ve got 5 for my next craft show. I’ve given 3 to my mom, 2 to my MIL, and one to my daughter. Otherwise, I’d have had 11.
Well, let’s hope I remember to start the MMP tomorrow. If it’s not up by 7 in the eastern US, then I goofed. But we all know I don’t goof…
Still got a low chocolate level in my blood. Feeling woozy. Don’t know how much longer I can hang on…
Send bunnies! Chocolate bunnies! Lots of chocolate bunnies!!!
I’ve been around, but haven’t really had much time to follow along or post anything or whatever.
Work landed me with a lovely 1100 page whopper of a document. I have to read it and submit all feedback by Tuesday, so I’ll probably be scarce for a few more days. Nice gift to give someone right after a marathon Passover seder and just before a long weekend, no?
In other news, I got half of my hair chopped off on Thursday, so I’m sporting a bouncy new shoulder-length do which I’m very much enamoured with. Photos whenever I get around to it. Other than that, not much else to report… it’s been pretty uneventful.
Dotty, hope you enjoyed your little getaway.
Vundy, sounds like your weekend was even busier than mine. I shall have a shot of rum tonight to commemorate the losses. (OK, fine… I really just want an excuse to have a shot of rum)
doggio, so glad to hear Nelly is coming home after all that time. Her guardian angel doesn’t work very swiftly, but at least he still managed to get the job done.
And last (but never never least), {{swampus}}. Sorry to hear about JoeDawg.
AWWWW… thanks Muppet. Of all things I thought I’d never get attached to, chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ah was at the top of the list, but I did get attached to that critter. Just goes to show. Never say never.
Ok, I shall go lie in a bubblebath for a bit whilst sippin’ upon a glass of wine and then off to beddy bye!
Sorry about your back, Taters. Hope it gets better soon.
Keeping my fingers crossed that you keep all of your hours, snowbunny.
::waves at Muppet::
Hope your Cairo vacation is lots of fun, Dotty.
Had a lovely time going to church with Local Best Friend and her amazing self-diapering child, then went over to their house for an early Easter dinner.
It was impossible to remain straight-faced in church when the rather restless toddler started pulling stuff out of the diaper bag. She started with non-diaper-related stuff, but then pulled out the diaper-changing mat, sat down on it, pulled out a diaper and started unfolding it, and then started taking off her shoes. At that point, LBF and I silently lost it and I fished out a book to distract the kid with. I think she may be ready to be potty-trained.
So, I’ve also been out to get groceries for the week (including every type of citrus in the universe, either in fruit or juice form) and completed my taxes. Yay! So the one thing I had absolutely vowed to accomplish over the weekend is done. Did I mention, “yay”?
Imagine that “yay” as said by a frog. My voice is currently questionable (a friend called earlier and laughed when she heard my voice).
So, I’m considering crawling back into bed to knit and watch whatever strikes my fancy.
