Yo, McUne! A Blog Anniversary MMP

Blurf. Extreme blurf.

Two hours sleep. No way in hell I’m going to work. Now if I could just figure out why. And hope to Og that it isn’t a major problem for anybody else because I don’t think it’s safe for me to be driving today, let alone be at work – my brain is not functioning.

Otherwise, we ended up with about an inch of snow sticking yesterday. Some of it is still around. Spring my ass.

Yay for getting Nelly back today!

I’m also voting for “report him.” You don’t get to have confused moments when you’re dispensing medications.

Your started projects sound like fun, MamaT. What kind of lace scarves are you knitting for your nieces? I’ve got 4 projects going right now (a scarf, two shawls, a needle bag) and am hoping to start a light-weight sweater/jacket sometime soon. And some socks. But I have to finish at least one of the projects before I start anything else.

You can stay quit, Taters! Really. (Think of all the money you’re saving! Really, that’s what motivated my grandma to quit, about a million years ago.)

Seems to me I’ve seen knitting and crochet instructions written especially for lefties, swampy. And yes, if you google *knitting for lefties *you get a bunch of results, some of them helpful, even.

I’ve had two apple turnovers and am sipping tea. I feel a good deal better than I did yesterday and don’t seem to be running a fever. Still debating whether I feel well enough to go to the glass mosaic class. Which I REALLY want to go to. I’m thinking I’ll go and see how I do. I can always leave if it’s not working out.

Off to face the day…

ETA: Hope you can get some sleep now, snowbunny.

Back from breakfast and grocery run. It’s still raining - I am surprised! It’s also quite chilly. **snowbunny **got it right - Spring my ass!!!

Shortly, I’m going to attempt to remove a couple of pounds of shrimps from the 5# block - if I’m successful, steamed shrimps will be supper. I’m also going to make my cuke/onion salad. So domestical. And I’ll probably toss a load or two in to the washer.

**FCD **is home - he tidied the inside of the boat, but it’s too rainy to do anything else. So he’s going to clean his shop. Yay! SIL should be home from work soon. It’ll be a houseful.

Off to the kitchen. Laterz, dooodz!!

OK, just finished the kidlet afghan. The little piece of yarn on the side is all that’s left from the 11 oz skein. How’s that for planning? OK, more like luck than planning, but still…

Spring my ass indeed! It’s damp and yucky here, far too warm to feel this cool. Even Papa Tigs is complaining that it’s chilly, and trust me, he doesn’t complain about chilly very often!

The two lace scarves I’m going to be making are the Colorful Splendor Scarf, in some handpainted yarn from Knitivity, which he calls fingering but I call towards the heavier end of lace, in similar colors to those shown in the picture; and the other is the Fiber Trends River Scarf using Dream In Color Baby lace yarn in Blue Lagoon, which is what’s shown except the actual yarn is a bit darker and has a bit more green in it. And is also, I might add, thicker than the “fingering” yarn I’m using for the other scarf, which suggests that just because you call a yarn something doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily the same weight as other yarns in that alleged category.

Oh, and then for the 2010 wedding for the younger of the two nieces, I’m knitting the Tina Shawl, using Blackberry Ridge silky merino in white. It’s not that difficult a pattern, but it will be very time-consuming, which is why I’ve given myself more than a year to complete it!

But first I’ve got to finish the 2nd sock of the pair for Papa Tigs, and even before that, I volunteered to be a test knitter for a sock pattern devised by someone on the sock knitting list, which I just got today. It’s a lovely pattern, called Aquitaine, but beyond that I’m sworn to secrecy until she’s finished running it through testing and ready to publish it. Should make a beautiful pair of socks, however. I’m using a handpainted yarn I got from someone on Etsy in a color called Summer Sun, which is just that, all kinds of shades of gorgeous saturated yellows/golds. And I promised to get them done in 10 days, so I guess I know what I’ll be knitting for the next little while!

Swampy, being a lefty is NO excuse. All this knitting I’ve just talked about? I do left-handed. That’s right, I’m a lefty knitter, and far from the only one. I’ve found that except for the fact that my knitting ends up being mirror image from that of a righty knitting the same pattern, there is NOTHING different about knitting lefty. So you have no excuse!!

Anyway, now that I’ve bored you half to death, I should shut up and get back to paying work. Which I have even more of than knitting, if such a thing is possible. It’s just not as much fun, darn it. :frowning: At least the new meds are working fine; I’m not hurting and I’m not higher than a kite. I’m not even high at all, which is the object of the exercise. What a concept, taking pain meds for pain and only taking the minimum you need to make you comfortable (which is not pain free, I hasten to add, just at a manageable level!). Amazing.

ETA: Cute kidlet afghan, Mooom!

I was up fairly early this morning, had my coffee and have managed to shower and get laundry going again. The laundry…it NEVER ends.

My daughter took off with her boyfriend last night and I won’t see her until tomorrow morning. My son is goofing off upstairs and will be taking off at around 1:00 to go hang out with some friends.

I have chores to do around here, but I’m not feeling too highly motivated. I’m just tired, I guess.

We’re going to MiL’s for Easter dinner tomorrow, but unfortunately, my daughter has to work. She’s not really griping about it; she didn’t ask for it off, and she’ll get extra pay. Plus, she’s actually working four days this week and is happy about finally getting some hours.

We’re taking her boyfriend with us to MiL’s place. He’s planning on making a dish to take over there, although we told him he didn’t need to do that.

The weather here is extremely sucky and unspringlike. Some warmth and sunshine would be much appreciated, that’s for sure.

It’s 78 degrees Amurrkin, sunny and very Springlike here.

I had to devirusize (I just made that one up! Ain’t it Jake!) my puter. It had a trojan virus. I was not happy. I know who the culprit is too. It’s a friend I let use my puter to order a bracelet from KMart (yeah, he’s all class!) as a gift. Ok, I take that part back. There’s acutally some pretty nice jewelry on the KMart website. He obviously did sump’n else while he was at it. Anywho, suffice it to say he’ll never touch it again. Oh and I have told him all about it. It took me almost five hours but the thing is gone. Vanished. Vanquished to trojan virus hell even!

It was not allowing me to access teh internets! Unbeknownst to it, however, I could from my laptop where I got instructions to get rid of it. HAH! Take That trojan virus!

So, here I am.

The hero returns from battle…

I just participated in the biggest disaster to hit Cottonfield County in recent memory. Bigger than last year’s forest fire, even.

An out of control car made one of our two liquor stores a drive-through, burning it to the ground in the process. Four people to the hospital, one flying with burns to her legs and torso. Lots of explosions and drama at the scene.

The liquor store was a complete loss. Several firefighters are trying to organize a memorial service for the store and inventory tonight at 7 PM.

Fire tale to come Monday.

I know what I forgot:  on the blackened coral reef, FCM.

Pretty knits, MamaT!

Mosaic class was lots and lots of fun. Very therapeutic. Mine came out purty. It needs to be cleaned up a bit 24 hours after you’re done with it, so I won’t post a picture just yet.

I’m still not feeling great, though, so I’ve been lolling about, knitting some more, and watching internet TV.

I’ll be off to church in an hour and a 1/2 or so, though. And then I think I’m going to loll about all day tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll feel semi-decent by Monday morning.

ETA: Forgot something else: Bobbio: :eek::eek::eek::eek: Glad you were there to help, but still,

Back later.

GT

But why is the rum gone?

Dang BBBobbio! Cottonfield County must be in mourning over the loss of the liquor store. Seriously, I hope everyone is ok.

Ok, I have managed to be poed and po somebody at the same time. Quite a feat if ya ask me. Here’s the story…

I got a call from somebody at church. He informed me that he had signed me up for one of the readings at the Easter Vigil at 6 am tomorrow. Now, I have a history of going to the Vigil and early Easter Eucharist but not this year because I agreed to ush at the 10:30 main service tomorrow. I like my church, but I ain’t going twice in one day. That’s just unheard of! So, that poed me because, I didn’t sign up on purpose and I do not appreciate being signed up. I informed him of the fact that I have no intentions of being there. He gets poed because I’m not. I told him that if I had intended to be there, I would have signed up to do one of the many, many readings as it has been my habit, but since I was not planning on being at the Vigil I did not sign up and did not appreciate being signed up without at least asking me first. Do, Not. Volunteer. Me. Ever.

But enough of my drama…

How’s everyone’s day/afternoon/evening going?

Oh and speaking of Easter. After church tomorrow, I will be serving that time honored traditional Easter luncheon of sallit, sketties and garlic bread. Just screams Easter don’t it! JDD and partner will be joining us and both said it sounded good to them too. Ol’ y’all know who and I decided we had us a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for some sketties and meat sauce.

ETA: First on four!

It ran… :stuck_out_tongue:

Stoooopid timeouts.

It ran… :stuck_out_tongue: And rather freely. We had to dam the roadside ditches for a hazmat response. Seriously.

News linky.

I’m home, tired, hurting. Nelly’s foster mom got home late, I’ll get her tomorrow. She went 1 mile in five months. :dubious: there will be pics.

: hoists a Yuengling in honor of the ABC store :

It’s amazingly impolite to volunteer someone like that, swampy, especially for a 6 a.m. service. So, I hereby decree that you are allowed to be poed, whereas the other party needs to deal. So, there! :stuck_out_tongue:

By the time I would have left for church, I was feeling ickier, so I chose to be sensible and stay home. I’ll go tomorrow with Local Best Friend and her little girl.

I just watched 3 episodes of The Dresden Files on hulu (I’ve been having a Dresden Files festival this weekend). And now I might be sleepy enough to try to get some sleep again.

Nitey nite everyone!

GT

Dang, it dropped into the 30s last night! We are not amused!!

I actually mostly slept in till 7 - and I needed it. Once I got up and tended to the menagerie, I started putting together the pot roast we’re having for supper. And that’s when I discovered I don’t have any regular N.O.T. - just russets. grrrrrr. I hope one of the local grocery stores is open. If not, I suppose I could bake a couple of russets, but it’s not the same if it doesn’t all cook together.

Anyway, the roast, with carrots, celery, and onions, is in the slow cooker, cooking slowly. **FCD **has already headed to the marina. The kids are still asleep. I’ve got Colbert on the TV and I’m caffeinating. Life is good.

Happy Easter!

I’m up. Yay!

I’m hoping to get the last of my seeds planted and get my taxes started before going to mass at noon. Then I’ll come back and finish taxes. I have a choice of 1) lasagne at Local Best Friend’s or 2) whatever’s for dinner at Other Local Best Friend’s (there are always choices and it’s always good) or 3) whatever strikes my fancy here at home. Or maybe FCM could send me some of that yummy roast.

We’ll see how far I get with my taxes and how I feel. I’ll probably also see if any of the doc-in-a-boxes is open today. I’m supposed to travel for work on Thursday and am pretty sure I have both a sinus infection and the start of bronchitis. Always a fun combination. So it’ll be lots and lots of liquids (I see major chicken soup being cooked this afternoon) and lots of good vibes and prayers for no lost voice, since I need to be able to talk when I travel.

Off to find tea.
Happy Easter everyone!

GT

ARRRGH! I went to start some coffee, opened my new bag of it…and found I’d accidentally bought whole-bean instead of ground. I do not have a coffee grinder.

So I guess I’ll head to the store a bit earlier than I was planning on, but I’ll be okay until I can get my morning fix.

Good morning all and a Happy Easter too! I was actually up much earlier, but then went back to sleep. Just finished having breakfast/brunch, which was a “better than eggs” omelet of onions, mushrooms, spinach and blue cheese crumbles; homefries; bacon; and whole wheat toast with peach jam sweetened with splenda not sugar. LOL I figured if I was going to splurge, it was going to be on those homefries, and boy were they worth it!

Geeze, Swampy, sorry that a fellow parishioner signed you up like that - and for 6 am too; very nervy (well, actually a stronger word comes to mind, but it being Easter, I won’t use it!:p).

I’ve been wondering where FarmChick has been - she has posted a couple of more videos over on youtube.com - the baby goats that were born when it was so cold appear to be doing fine, btw. Hope all is well on the farm and that she’s well too!

SnowBunny, aww! I’ve been getting ground coffee but have a grinder; this morning, I made coffee from the beans. Twas good.

Happy Easter! I’m back from Mass, now I’m taking Gordie to the DOGPARK! before I go get Nelly.

hope you feel better, gt.
