Spring my ass indeed! It’s damp and yucky here, far too warm to feel this cool. Even Papa Tigs is complaining that it’s chilly, and trust me, he doesn’t complain about chilly very often!
The two lace scarves I’m going to be making are the Colorful Splendor Scarf, in some handpainted yarn from Knitivity, which he calls fingering but I call towards the heavier end of lace, in similar colors to those shown in the picture; and the other is the Fiber Trends River Scarf using Dream In Color Baby lace yarn in Blue Lagoon, which is what’s shown except the actual yarn is a bit darker and has a bit more green in it. And is also, I might add, thicker than the “fingering” yarn I’m using for the other scarf, which suggests that just because you call a yarn something doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily the same weight as other yarns in that alleged category.
Oh, and then for the 2010 wedding for the younger of the two nieces, I’m knitting the Tina Shawl, using Blackberry Ridge silky merino in white. It’s not that difficult a pattern, but it will be very time-consuming, which is why I’ve given myself more than a year to complete it!
But first I’ve got to finish the 2nd sock of the pair for Papa Tigs, and even before that, I volunteered to be a test knitter for a sock pattern devised by someone on the sock knitting list, which I just got today. It’s a lovely pattern, called Aquitaine, but beyond that I’m sworn to secrecy until she’s finished running it through testing and ready to publish it. Should make a beautiful pair of socks, however. I’m using a handpainted yarn I got from someone on Etsy in a color called Summer Sun, which is just that, all kinds of shades of gorgeous saturated yellows/golds. And I promised to get them done in 10 days, so I guess I know what I’ll be knitting for the next little while!
Swampy, being a lefty is NO excuse. All this knitting I’ve just talked about? I do left-handed. That’s right, I’m a lefty knitter, and far from the only one. I’ve found that except for the fact that my knitting ends up being mirror image from that of a righty knitting the same pattern, there is NOTHING different about knitting lefty. So you have no excuse!!
Anyway, now that I’ve bored you half to death, I should shut up and get back to paying work. Which I have even more of than knitting, if such a thing is possible. It’s just not as much fun, darn it.
At least the new meds are working fine; I’m not hurting and I’m not higher than a kite. I’m not even high at all, which is the object of the exercise. What a concept, taking pain meds for pain and only taking the minimum you need to make you comfortable (which is not pain free, I hasten to add, just at a manageable level!). Amazing.
ETA: Cute kidlet afghan, Mooom!
