You already have the tickets. What is the next gig you are going to?

Sam Bush in January. Can’t wait!

My son’s performance in an Advent dessert theatre performance this Friday. Apollo’s Fire, a great local Baroque ensemble, performing Handel’s Messiah a week from this Friday. Jerry Seinfeld, doing standup here on Jan. 9.

*Messiah *on Saturday. I’ve sung it every year for I don’t know how long. This year, I’m going to listen.

There’s a pre-sale for Bonnaroo starting on the 4th, and I’m likely to buy a ticket even without knowing the lineup, which won’t be released until February.

So, uh, Bonnaroo in June. In about two days.

Widespread Panic in Denver New Year’s Eve Eve and again on New Year’s Eve.

Sunday Valley at the Dame in Lexington, KY on December 27th.

The Bowery Boys, an original musical that a local theater is doing, “inspired by” the novels of Horatio Alger. Their stuff is always fun and/or intense, and very well done. Mom and I have season tickets, but I’m not sure of the exact date.

We’re also hoping to take the sprog to see Mary Poppins. It’s her favorite new movie, and the musical based on the movie is coming complete with the London Mary Poppins, who’s supposed to be excellent. It will be her first full length production, and I wouldn’t consider it at her age were she not already familiar with the material.

Raveonettes at Bimbos 365. Love them and their new album so I got the tix as soon as I saw them booked.

Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers on Dec. 30th. I’ve never seen them live before so I’m excited they are playing close by and in a great tiny venue.

A 2 dollar screening of Edward Scissorhands (one of the few known copies of the 35mm print) tomorrow night and a free show with Ryland Bouchard (of The Robot Ate Me) on Friday, if they count.

I’m taking my mother-in-law and my girls to see a local production of The Nutcracker. None of them have ever seen it, so it should be fun. I haven’t seen it live since I was a little girl. The venue is pretty cool, so I think my mother-in-law will like that a lot. The girls have been there many times for school outings.

I’ll be there Thursday too! The RBC is a really nice arena, and the luxury suites are well…sweeeeeet! Look for me. I’ll be wearing a Canes jersey.

David Byrne at the Sydney Opera House in February. I cannot wait–I expect it’ll be excellent.

I’ll be seeing them January 2nd. It’ll be my 5th year in a row. Such an amazing show. When I’m out of rhymes I’ll let you know.

Together As One* on New Year’s Eve. 9 hours of Armin Van Buuren.

The Big Day Out, at the Gold Coast in January.

Mini Dopefest!

don’t ask, there’s a good chance I’ll be at that same Mountain Goats gig Good to hear your positive review… I’ve only just recently discovered them and have fallen in love with their latest album.

I’m gutted I missed out on tickets for Tegan & Sara at the Enmore in January, and there’s a slight chance I can wrangle my way on to the guest list, but the shows I have tickets for right now are:

Homebake in the Domain, Sydney, with Crowded House

Big Day Out Sydney, with Neil Young and TV On The Radio and about a million others

and finally…

Leonard Cohen at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, with Paul Kelly as support … (faints dead away with excitement)

My wife and I are seeing Lionheart at the Cloisters Museum on Sunday. We have seen them several times before, and can’t wait. 90 minutes of complete bliss.

Not so much a “gig” as it is an “event”- a panel on January 30 featuring author Michael Davies and the cast of Sesame Street, honoring the series’ 40th anniversary and the publication of Davies’ new history of it, Street Gang.
