You already have the tickets. What is the next gig you are going to?

I only just remembered that I have bought a pile of tickets to The Mountain Goats at the Manning Bar, Sydney University.

Now I am really looking forward to this. I saw them/him a couple of years ago at the Metro and it was a great show. Darnielle and Hughes seemed blown away by the audience response, they couldn’t stop grinning. John said it was the biggest audience they had ever played to but surely that isn’t true?

Anyhow what do you have tickets for?

Stars on December 12th at a venue that I’ve never been to.

The last time I saw them was their last Christmas show in Toronto two years ago. They closed with an amazing version of Fairy Tale of New York. I think this is the third time that I’ll be seeing them.

Sporting events count?

Have tickets for the Avalanche/Ducks game in January. After years of living in a minor league town will be my sons first NHL game live.

Got tickets to see Elton John in the last set of performances of “The Red Piano” at Caesars in February.

I have a slew of hockey tickets through the end of the season. I can list them all out if you want.

I’m seeing Lewis Black tomorrow night in the new Durham Performing Arts Center, and I already have tickets for The Last Comic Standing Tour also at the DPAC on Jan 4, 2009.

The Lion King! Woo-hoo! (not till March 1st, tho)

Jesus Christ Superstar on December 27th.

Taking the wife to Wicked tommorow night. Bought the tickets back in June(?) since it sold out so fast.

Carbon Leaf on the 11th. We saw them last August, and they were very good.

Ray Davies a week from Thursday.

If movies count, I have free passes to see Valkyrie on Thursday night. I’m looking forward to seeing it for free because I was curious about it, but no way was I going to pay to see it.

What is he touring? I really want to see the shows that are on Storyteller the one man show he did ten years ago. But if he’s just playing it doesn’t matter, his current band rock really hard - they are better than the Kinks in all honesty except for the absence of Dave.

Whatever he does he’ll blow your head off.

This January 17th I’m seeing the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra perform Errki-Sven Tüür’s “The Path and the Traces” from his “Symphony No. 4”, Tchaikovsky’s “Piano Concerto No. 2”, and Mahler’s “Titan”, from his “Symphony No. 1”.

Tüür is a modern Estonian composer not often heard in the US, in fact I believe this is the US premier of this particular piece. He’s pretty avant-garde and I’m interested in hearing what they do with it.

Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow night.

Cherry Poppin’ Daddies in February.

I’m sure I’ll see a few shows between now and then, but the only one for which I have a ticket at the moment is the Pogues on March 16.

Fountains of Wayne - playing an acoustic set at Cafe du Nord on January 18th.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra on Dec 27.

Neil Young, opening act Wilco, Decemeber 15th, Madison Square Garden, New York City. Rafter seats. Last year had 2nd row seats in Wallingford, CT, so this year will be a bit different.

Thursday night I’m going to the Carolina Hurricanes game in Raleigh. I’ve never been to the RBC Center before, so I’m excited. Plus, I’ll be in a luxury suite, which is, you know, nice.

Then Monday night I’m going to the Panthers/Bucs game back here in Charlotte.
