The kidlets’ pediatrician thought they had RSV, which is a giant, nasty wave sweeping the country right now (respiratory syncytial virus) Both for the persistence of the fevers in the kids and the long duration of the cough. Then the grownups started to get it, one by one.
I’m having sympathy pain for you from 60 miles away~ouch! I did physical therapy for my balance problems and it was worth every minute. And you are so right….getting old is not for sissies!
@FairyChatMom Happy Anniversary to you (and the tobester story was adorable-what a clever boy)
Reasonable heave. But between the sore throat from the Wednesday screaming, and getting seasonal post nasal drip, It was only 99.99% as fun as usual. Plus I think I pulled an eye muscle.
That’s on rotation for Saturday(I make my own)
One of each?
A reverse Catherine the Great? HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!
I read everything and got caught up, mostly. Allow me to ditto my well-wishes and sympathies to scareyfaerie’s list. It seems like many are having a rough time and I’m sorry for all.
I’ve completed the imaging and visits to the ophthalmologist now, and have more followups scheduled. Apparently the aches and pains after the wreck aren’t trivial and the docs are treating this very seriously. Some good news to report though. After mentioning I might want a rental car, the other driver’s insurance was enthusiastic and helpful - telling me to let them know what, when and where, and it would all be covered.
I found out TX DOT finally released the official accident report. Pretty sure it happened the day I started getting calls from bottom-feeding lawyers acting as officials who “Need to speak to me immediately” about the [date/time/location] accident without revealing they’re attorneys. I’ve let it all go to voicemail, and started searching the phone numbers of these urgent callers to discover they’re just law offices – not even in my city. I went to the DOT web page for a copy of the report and found out they were happy to email me one – for a fee. For some reason, getting out my VISA card for police reports about my own incident really gripes my cookies.
Daughter is still embroiled in drama with Schrodinger’s Douchebag. It’s like her boyfriend demonstrates quantum super-positioning by simultaneously occupying the role of responsible, nice military pilot for us, and drunken asshole bad-ass around his friends. When observed by either group, the waveform collapses and he immediately occupies whichever role is more suitable at the moment. Or maybe he’s just a typical young male – I dunno. But it’s starting to piss me off.
Oh well, I hope everyone has a better week. What’s left of it anyway.
Howdy all. Was going to get my swimming in between the World Cup games today, but the morning game went to overtime and then penalty kicks, so not enough time; will go after the second game or later today, we’ll see. Still rainy and gloomy outside.
yanker, hope all the medical results are negative and your aches and pains…are just aches and pains and will subside. And love your description of daughter’s boyfriend; may she see both sides clearly and make her judgements based on them both.
red, that’s an interesting idea for the door; I may look into it.
FCM, hooray for the negative test.
Taters, enjoy the B-day celebrations with son.
I love that!!! Thought it might be a spelling error then I read the rest of the message…just perfect. Enjoy your cookies and the corporate wackiness.
OK, need to do a couple things and then back to the World Cup. Take care all.
Got a few more hours sleep; feel somewhat human again.
There’s rumors of rain/sleet/snow later today. Doubt it’ll amount to much, but it would be nice to see a little whiteness on the ground. (Can you tell I haven’t lived in Michigan all that long?)
It’s weird being into December and it not really looking OR feeling much like winter.
Must feed self now. A big bowl of cereal sounds do-able. Maybe I’ll get the ambition to scramble a coupla eggs and/or fix a P.B. sammich to take with.
I do have marshmallows that need usin’ up. (For the Fluffernutter, which is what I always mean by “pb sammich” because I am 42 going on 8.)
Is that anything like a “schmear”? Only heard of a skiff in the sense of a lightweight boat-type thingie.
Laundering continues apace. First load is folded and awaiting stowage in various drawers. Second load is in the dryer, third in the washer, two more on deck. Lots of loads because lots of bedding - sheets, blankets, electric blanket, comforter, pillow cases, plus towels. If I don’t feel like doing it all today, there’s always tomorrow. Meanwhile, I’m enjoying some quiet recliner time - almost too quiet - I’ve kinda sorta dozed a bit while reading.
FCD has picked up both of our COVID test orders. I may have him drop off a couple of boxes with our daughter - not sure if her insurance covers home tests or not. Beyond that, more chillage on the agenda.
Thanks for the anniversary acknowledgements. In a way it still boggles the mind how I married a virtual stranger, yet here we are nearly 4 decades later. Guess it was a good match.
shoe Do use actual marshmallows for your fluffernutter, or do you make it properly with fluff?
I’m about to dive into making some really tedious scenery for this exhibit I’m working on. It’s a cityscape, so lots of little fiddly bits. I didn’t design it, I’m just the pro-from-Dover hired in to help them get it done. But at least I’m in my own shop for a couple of days.
Happy anniversary, FCM! May there be many more.
{{{BooFae}}} You have my sympathies on Ophelia. It’s never easy.
I use real, honest-to-Og marshmallows. I never even knew it came in jars till way into grown-ass-adulthood.
Minis if I have them, or the biiiiiiiiiiiig ones torn into halves or thirds, if I’ve got some leftover from making s’mores. (I did mention eating like a child, yes?)
Skipped the cereal in favor of inching closer to finishing my Secret Santa box, but I did both ingest a pair of scrambled eggies and made that Fluffernutter for tonight.
Monkey is currently lapping up some gooshy-food (good way to re-use the disposable bowl I beat the eggs in, before tossing it) and I have found clean socks’n’undies. Time to get juuuust purtified enough to work in a hot kitchen and/or run the drive-thru.
Your insurance company will have that report and should be able to send you a free copy.
Glad to hear your docs are taking it all seriously. I can’t remember about your accident~do they suspect a traumatic brain injury or whiplash? That would explain the vision problems. If so, you might want to consider finding an attorney so that you get all the coverage you deserve from the other person’s insurance. You will need it because medical health insurance you have (versus underinsured medical coverage from your auto insurance) will not willingly cover your medical and therapy/rehab expenses once they find out they are caused by another insured person (the fault of the other driver-if you were rear ended it is 100% that other driver’s fault).
A month or two of rehab for a TBI can use up the coverage in the at fault driver’s coverage, then the next few months of therapy/rehab can use up your policy’s underinsured medical expenses and then you’re stuck still needing vision therapy, cognitive therapy, physical therapy and your health insurance will refuse to pay because there is an at-fault person identified. It is a well-disguised ‘gotcha’.
Rear end accidents can be hideous. Mine was 5 years ago and I still need rehab but have no way to pay for it. Whatever you do, don’t settle damages too soon. I was finding damages for two years (vision was the last to be diagnosed).
Or it could mean a pacemaker. I have one, (and a stent,) and it’s a wonderful device. Saved my life, it did. Be glad he’s willing to see the docs about it.
Also ,I was awake throughout my stent placement, it was quite interesting, and the only reason they kept me afterwards was so that they could watch out for me until the anti-coagulating drugs wore off. And if he gets the choice, wrist is the way to go.
I’ve fallen a few times lately too, Hippie. It does indeed suck.
Sorry again about Ophelia, Boofae. (I said sorry on FB. You’re one of the people I stalk on there.)
Taters, you need to take as much time off as you can get away with. They need to do things for themselves. I’ve found that if people find out that you will do things that they are supposed to do, they will happily let you and come to expect it. In the work world, and elsewhere.
Glad you got some sleep Mom. Perhaps ‘other grammy’, BIL’s mother, could take on a bit more responsibility for babby wrangling? OOps, sorry. (not sorry) Not my place to say.
And happy anniversary!

Red Ouch! We keep those Leg Cramp pills around for Charles the horse. They may just be woo, but they do seem to work.
I grew up, (mostly), in Pensacola where they train Navy and Marine pilots and knew a few of them. Your assessment is spot on more often than not. She should get out while she can. But don’t say that to her.
Wifey stopped by Grocery Outlet after PT yesterday and bought 4 pounds of Belly Flops! My blood glucose was 158 this morning. Danger, Will Robinson!
I told you all that it snowed here last week, yes? Well, it’s still here, lying about like a angsty teenager. Wish it would go away.
Howdy Y’all! Went over to the church house to do the thangs and were bears who brunch at Eggs Up Grill, which was nummy as usual. Then it was back to da cave where I made stuff for tomorrow’s bday soiree. I made N.O.T. sallit, satanic chikin ovaries, and prepped the veggie casserole.Tomorrow I shall bake the ham, the veggie casserole, and make a pineapple casserole cause it goes good with ham. In other news the new mattress and box springs will be delivered next Tuesday.
Hippie sorry about the fall. Hope you heal up soonest. Gettin’ old ain’t for sissies!
{{{BooFae}}} I am so sorry about Ophelia. She had a very long life filled with much love because of 'im indoors and you.
MOOOOOOM sounds like the Tobester is a buddin’ tech genius. I agree a hunnert percent on the masks. The plague still abides. Also, happy FairyChatAversary!
shoe hope you were able to go back to sleep.
MetalMouse glad you were able to break in your house. Aren’t you glad you were not nekkid underneath a shorty robe when that happened?
GodBod glad you’re feelin’ better today.
red ouchie! I hate gettin’ a charley horse.
sari hope it all went well for Adam and Cerby at the vet.
Taters one can never go wrong with an ice cream cake.
talky homemade cookies and a corporate meltdown sounds like a fun weekend.
flyboy have fun at your Christmas soiree.
yanker yay for the rental car good news. I’d be pissed too about havin’ to pay for an accident report when the accident is not my fault, but whachu gonna do. Maybe daughter will come to her senses.
Butters hope the sinuses are feelin’ better.
Bumba I am the jelly bean (flop) eater but don’t buy ‘em often cause I cannot stop myself from eatin’ 'em.
Tobias tested positive. Roxy is still negative. Daughter says Tobias is mostly just snotty and grouchy, not feverish. Roxy has more symptoms.
I’m still coughing, but somewhat less. FCD is just exhausted, but that’s due to family stuff. Speaking of which, BIL is off the ventilator and he’s more ot less conscious. His nurse was asking about his “baseline” because he isn’t particularly communicative. But that’s the way he is. We’re going there tomorrow - I’m going along to help manage FIL.
