You can't beat a Krampus Night MMP!

It was misting when I left for the dentist’s office this morning, so I didn’t bring an umbrella, fool that I am. Sure enough, mist turned to rain. I did 8.5 miles today. Isn’t it amazing how miserable rain is when you’re in it and how coy when you’re listening to it from a comfy chair ? I am warm and dry now, and it;s sheer bliss.

The dentist said no root canal needed. I am thrilled! He said my gums are just very reactive in that area and to gargle with salt water. Whew! Next dental appointment, I’ll take NSAIDs in advance.

FCM, it sounds like Tobias is as smart as his sister, and is it any wonder? I mean, look at you and FCD! All your genes must look like tiny Einsteins.

swampy, I hope you have a blast at the birthday party! If I had a squillion dollars, I’d hire you to do my birthday party. You and OYKW would, of course, fly first class for free.

nona, crossing fingers the tests go well. Please let us know.

shoe, Other Shoe sounds like someone I’d like to meet. I’m so sorry he had to leave as soon as he did.

red, Charley horse sounds horrible! Why are they called Charley horses? Does anyone know?

BooFae, I’m so sorry you lost Ophelia. She sounds like a wonderful cat, and I’m sure she’s left a huge, Ophelia-sized hole in your heart .

Bumba, I’d never heard of Jelly Flops, but they sound good!

yanker, I hope daughter figures out on her own that this guy is not worthy of her.

I missed the drama at the park today, with Barky and Humpy.
I’m grateful for that.

Adam is good. He’s lost a bit more weight and now weighs 13.3 pounds. He’s healthy, even though he has a heart murmur. He is negative for FIV, got his first vaccination for that. I have to take him back for the next one in 3-4 weeks.

Cerby was… mixed
He flipped out in the parking lot wanting to chase cars.
He was pretty good in the lobby and exam room. The tech said he growled a little but I didn’t hear it.
I think I scared them a little with questions about his behavior. He had to wear a muzzle during the exam.
The vet said he will be on Prozac his entire life. I was hoping that there is a time frame to think about weaning him off of it. She gave me a list of numbers for behaviorists. I also got a copy of his records back to when he was a puppy. I don’t understand everything, lots of abbreviations, but I’m figuring it out. At least he was fairly calm and well behaved at the vet with us. The other vet had notes about him being aggressive, even after being muzzled.
There was a bunch of stuff about resource guarding, which he does not do here. Probably because Echo will kick his ass. If there will be any resource guarding, it will be done by her.
The vet said most dogs take three months to adjust to a new home. Cerby will probably take a year.

I’m happy for you that BIL is doing better FCM. I’m sorry for you that you lost your weekend, and you have to go to the hospital instead.

Went out for dinner with a van full of the Walking Dead last night, then a drive around the local lake to look at the rich people’s Christmas lights. Met a nice old guy and his wife. Turns out he’s a WWII Navy veteran! 95 years old, but I wouldn’t have guessed that by his demeanor. Spent his time during the war fixing airplanes at Moffett Field near San Francisco. The last WWII vet I knew was my stepfather, but he’s been gone for over 35 years now.

Tomorrow we’ll make Christmas cookies with my daughter. Made dough for three different types today.

Now it’s time to watch a documentary on Miles Davis’ early years.

Hope that the birthday party was a blast swampy!

Glad that BIL is improving Moooooom.

bumba, I have to be on extreme guard at the grocery outlet for that very reason.

Guess what came in the mail today? The bank card that was mailed from 58 miles away three weeks ago. And that I had replaced at my CU (including having to change numbers and all) at the beginning of the month to have access to my funds. I could have walked to Tullahoma and back for it in that time frame.

Houseirk and laundry are done, groceries are bought and supper et. Tomorrow, I’ll go up to SIL’s for a Christmas tea. Now, for some evening sloth.

Evening all. The second soccer game ran late, too, and by then I didn’t have the ambition to get out, so swimming will be a ‘see about it this weekend’ thing. Did get the go-ahead from Brother on my Xmas travel plans, so hotels have been booked and plans made. Ended up at Subway for the evening meal and have pretty much caught up with the news, so probably turn in early tonight; indoor soccer starts at 9am and I’ll probably be there most of the day.

nellie, that’s good news on the no root canal.

Bumba, had to goggle Belly Flops, never encountered them before.

Catch everyone Sattiday.

Well shit. It seems I must to the shop tomorrow. My gift shop guy sold out of an item and he wants more. So I gotta go and babysit the CNC for a while. I was looking forward to attempting to out-sloth swampy.

I, too, was unaware of the existence of Belly Flops, but I think that’s a great name!

However, colors that don’t match the flavor sounds like an amped-up version of biting into a raisin cookie thinking it’s gonna be chocolate chip, and I don’t need that in my life.

Man, I got out early tonight!
Some weekends, even on an “early out” shift (e.g. not closing) I’ve left at midnight.
Home by ten, and that’s with stopping for yet another bottle of cough syrup, AND getting some chicken wings for later dinner. (Damn, ten bucks for six wings? Still, this place has the best in town and I wanted to treat myself just a bit.)

Home so early, in fact, that not only was Bun-bun not waiting for me, but neither was Monkey! He was just waking up - usually he’s waiting at the door and meowing a greeting when I walk in.

Didn’t even eat my sammich - there was a fruit & a veg platter on the break table for someone’s birthday, so lots to nibble on. Plus that means tomorrow’s dinner is already sorted.

Will probably check back in with y’all later. For now, chillage & tossing Monkey a few treats to chase is my primary goal.

ETA:

Sorry you lost your slothage, but … that’s still awesome! People like your stuff so much! (What’s the hot item, if I may ask?)

Well, butter my butt and call me a biscuit. Y’all remember Gentleman Caller who was quite the entertainment for a while? I had phone issues for a couple of weeks straight last summer (okay, I was broke and got way behind on bills) and then was unable to get in touch with him again after that …

… well, he called me a buncha times in a row, while I was irking tonight. (No mssg, so maybe it was a butt-dial?) I texted him a bit ago once I was settled (basically, “You rang?”) and we’ve had a bit of back-and-forth.

Haven’t found out what happened yet, it’s so far just been “Oh, hey, how have you been?” type of stuff … but you better believe I’m gonna ask. I’ll be interested to know his reply. I really missed him, for quite a while.

shoe It were these, heart shaped wall hangers with the finger lakes cut into them. Very much a if you know where this is thing, if you don’t know then it looks like a bunch of blobs.

And good luck with the Gentleman Caller.

I’m thinking about getting a puppy. Should I?

Yes. Absolutely. As soon as possible.

Get two. They’ll keep each other company while you’re working/sleeping/posting cute puppy pics to the Dope.

I’d vote for a young adult dog who’s past the housebreaking and furry termite chewing on everything stage. Once they’re past the adorable baby fuzzball stage, their adoption odds drop sharply, too.

Another stoopit night - I woke just before 2 and I’ve been up ever since, despite trying to sleep again. So I’m up.

I was going to ride with FCD and his folks to the hospital today, but I’m thinking 4+ hours in the car and me potentially a covid-carrier - probably not a good idea. Bad enough FCD has been around me (tho mostly at a distance) and around them unmasked. I hate that he has to make the trip himself, but if his folks catch the plague, at a minimum it would impose a burden, at worst, it could be fatal. So I should avoid being around them.

Which means chores and probably naps shall ensue.

Stoopit plague. Yeah yeah, Happy Saturday… :stuck_out_tongue:

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 60 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of < snerk > 69! < snerk > and cloudy. The high temp for the next three days is predicted to be
< snerk > 69! < snerk > In a bit I shall put the ham on to bake. Later on the casseroles and the rolls will be baked as well. Guests will arrive around elevenish for celebratory adult beverages and N.O.L. will be served around twelvish. The goal is to have everyone gone by no later that three p.m. We’ll hardly have time to sloth today!

VanGo sorry for the lack of sloth, but yay that your stuff is so popular there is a demand for more.

MOOOOOOM glad BIL seems to be improvin’. Good call on not goin’ to the horsepistol. I was gonna suggest that you maybe not go due to plague possibilities.

shoe hope things work out re Gentleman Caller.

Nellie good news about the no root canal!

sari yay for good checkups for Adam and Cerby. Glad you were able to get some info on Cerby and hope it helps you to understand what’s goin’ on with him better.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire appropriate for the receivin’ of visitors and get to food makin’.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I love this phrasing!

Morning, mumpers! It’s a balmy 0c/33f with a predicted high of 1c/34f and rain showers. That’ll be why I can see blue sky and sun. Weather app says “Yep, it’s cold and fucking rainy. I’ve got nothing” which isn’t entirely accurate but it’s definitely cold.

Thank you for all the kind words here and on farcebook about Ophelia, she has certainly left a very big hole and we’re back to being a two-tail house again. Today I moved her igloo bed so that we don’t see it every day, and I will be packing up her unused meds to give to Little Paws Cat Haven tomorrow as they have elderly cats who need the same stuff. That’ll be something like a £250 donation to them, but it’s worth it if the stuff doesn’t go to waste.

Back to the usual today, been to the gym for a couple of classes and I’m having a cup of tea to get over it. Then time for a shower before we head into town to do the weekend errands. I should push the vacuum round this afternoon too, 'im indoors will be cooking tonight so that’s one thing I don’t have to do.

Other than that, I can be a sloth!

Morning, everyone! Fell asleep early, and woke up early. I actually feel well-rested for once.

My sister’s coming home from college for a night, so I’ll get to hang out with her.

Tested neg again, but FCD told me (before I could tell him) that I shouldn’t go with them. He just left. I’ll head out shortly to get baby tylenol and ibuprofen for the grands. And bread and soup. Roxy woke sans fever, so that’s good.

After erranding, I have a load of laundry to do and I’m going to wrap the presents. Then I’ll put the bed in the guest room back together, since I’ve laundered the covers, etc, that SIL used. I may even put up the little tree. So fun times ahead.

Good morning.

It’s currently 44 degrees and soggy again. The expected high is 48, and rain shall prevail for most of the day. It was a little bit stormy in the overnight hours, but it is calm at the moment.

Everybody will descend upon my house today to celebrate my son’s birthday. I got all the chores done yesterday, and in a bit, I’ll shower and head to the store to get the dinner fixings. I need to get snacks and juice for the grandkids too.

Beautiful work, VanGo.

shoe, I’m pulling up a chair and waiting for the rest of the conversation.

I hope the party was a blast, swampy.

I’m glad you got more info on Cerby, sari. Polar was pretty wild when we first adopted him, although he never growled at anyone. He did not like males, especially those who wore hats or hoodies. That crazy dog ate my couch, countless shoes, and many other things. He was constantly escaping and wouldn’t come when called. He was and still is a big dog, but especially in his youth, he looked intimidating, so the neighbors were always pissed when he escaped. I can’t tell you how often he and Brandi dug under the fence and got out of the yard. Then there was just plain ol’ fence destroying. He would break fence boards in half by banging them with his paw and then use the broken fence area as an escape route. We replaced sooooooo many fence boards. It probably took closer to two years for him to settle down (he was two when we adopted him). He was a lot of work, but I’m glad we stuck it out.

I’m glad you tested negative again, FCM.

Does that mean you have the house all to yourself? (If so … ENJOY!!)
