You can't beat a Krampus Night MMP!

Morning all. Off to indoor soccer in a bit; mostly will be taking roll call and maybe helping out with some of the coaching, should keep me busy and out of trouble for 6 hours or so. Rain this afternoon and all evening, so another good day to be inside.

Stay well, FCM

VanGO, sorry for the non-work break ending quickly, but Profit… And getting a dog might be a good idea, but include the time needed with them in your calculations…see Sari about that.

GOdbod, nice to have someone to hang out with.

SHoe, hope Gentleman Caller calls back…and maybe isn’t always a gentleman (wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

OK, need to do a couple of things and off to the Middle School gym. All y’all take care.

Waiting for the rest of the story on GC shoe. Appendages crossed.

VanGo, sorry for the loss of sloth, but glad that your Finger Lakes hearts are selling well. As far as a puppy, you already know that they’re a lot of work, albeit worth it, but young adults are good too. Should you get one, you know the rule…lots of pics!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and have had a bit of excitement this morning. My neighbor in the next building was being taken out by ambulance when I walked Nelson this morning. The medics called me over to talk to her and she asked if I could take care of her two shih tzu - poodle mixes until her son could get here (he lives ~45 minutes away and wants to check in on his mom first). So, right now, Nelson is curled up with his little girlfriends Charlie and Della until he gets here (he texted me that he’ll be here ~10:30). They look sweet together and make me wonder how Nelson would get along with another dog if I adopted one. Who knows?

I need to purtify shortly so’s I’m presentable when Miss Ann’s son gets here and before I leave for the tea party.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Well, me, and the dog, and two cats, and a load of laundry…

Just back from erranding, mostly getting supplies for my daughter et al. Both kids were acting normal when I dropped the stuff off. SIL said every time he thought he was getting better, he’d puke. It’s especially bad because he was throwing up his meds… Daughter is just exhausted, and bummed about losing her sense of taste. She read where it could last from 2 months to 2 years. UGH!

Now that I’m home, I started the load of laundry and cleaned the cat box. In a few minutes, I’ll go wrap the kids’ presents and make up the bed. It’s also clean-the-critter-fountain weekend, but that’s a 15-minute chore at most.

I bought some ground beef and I’m going to make a big batch of shepherd’s pie (actually cottage pie, since I’m not using mutton.) I’ve got small pot-pie pans so I can make individual servings for the inlaws to freeze. And I couldn’t believe - in Aldi, eggs were $3.52/dozen!!! Holy crap!

Anyway, time to get to it. Work work work

My morning view earlier, from my kitchen window:

ETA: oh, cool, the best parts show on preview w/out having to open it.
It’s Monkey, watching a turkey & squirrel having a corn breakfast.

Good Saturday morning, folks.

Thank you all for the kind words. As for his heart issue, it’s not as bad as we thought it was going to be. He does need a stent, though. So, they’re working with insurance (United Healthcare. He’ll be lucky if they even cover it, I’ll bet! I detest that so-called insurance company!), to try to get an exploratory procedure scheduled to be done during his vacation, which starts on Christmas Eve, through the next nine days after that. We’ll see what happens with that. Then, they’ll schedule him for the actual surgery.

I’ve decided that for dinner, I’m going to fry up some bluegill, and crappie, and have some homemade fries with it. I’ll be having a stupid salad. Diabetes sucks. Just so you know. I may have a few bites of what I cook, though. I’ve got insulin for that.

I don’t know what the day will hold, other than a nap, and vacuuming. I need to get husband’s laundry into the washer, too.

It’s cloudy, and misting rain a bit. It’s 42* right now, and it’ll be getting up to 44*, they say. The rain is supposed to stop soon, I guess. Then, that’ll be it for the rain!

The gifts are wrapped and the bed is made up. Towels are in the dryer - once they come out and are put away, I’ll bring up the little tree and the ornaments. But now, it’s break time.

Gray and dreary outside - glad I’m inside!

It took about three hours to get to Seattle yesterday. By the time I arrived at Aqua by El Gaucho, the appetisers were pretty well picked over, and cold. I had a chicken satay, a little goulash (beef in paprika, not the chili-mac your mom made), and a tempura prawn. Only about half of the guests showed up, due to illnesses. One cow-orker left before dinner with a headache (which I pronounce ‘hed-AH-chee’). The choicer of dinner were scallops, chicken, or filet mignon. I went for the filet mignon (rare). It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The salad was arugula with apple slices, dried cranberries, candied hazelnuts, and a vinaigrette. Dessert, which I didn’t eat, was a macaroon and chocolate cheesecake. Since the company had paid for 28 meals, and not that many people were there, several people got dinners to go. I got the filet mignon for The Missus, and brought her home my untouched dessert.

People liked my bow tie. Strangely, I was the only one wearing one. After several attempts to tie one tie, and it coming out uneven, I just wore a pre-tied one.

For some reason I’m really enjoying the thought of you putting up your little tree~you deserve some joy after the last couple of weeks you’ve had.

Put it up, plug it in and then get comfortable in your recliner, put your feet up and gaze at it and let it nudge awake the kid in you for a few minutes. :christmas_tree: I’m finding it better than hot toddies (not that I intend to completely give up hot toddies, mind you).

We got the little tree out and put up last night, but not decorated. Yes, it’s artificial. Don’t judge. You’d think that the cost of a dead tree wouldn’t be all that much here in Orygun, but you’d be wrong. Plus the needles everywhere and disposing of the corpse after. We aren’t having that any more. Anyway, it’s about a 4’ tree, 5’ with the angel topper.
The daughter and her hubby came over last night so I suppose the wimmenfolk will want to decorate it.

Remember I said the snow was hanging around here? Well, it’s almost 50f today and it’s melting. :grinning: I like snow just fine when I can look at it through a window. When I have to go out in it, not so much.

Glad Hubs’ heart issue isn’t too bad, Ace. Stents are great. He’s gonna love it. They may keep him overnight 'cause of the anti-coag drugs, but he should be back to his old self and home the next day. I’m sure I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know.

Happy Firday, All!

I think mine is 3’. I got it 2 years ago thinking Roxy would want to decorate it. Nope, not interested. I didn’t bother with it last year, but since we’re doing Christmas Eve Brunch here, I should put it up.

But first, I took a few stitches in my daughter’s t-shirt quilt. Several years ago, she sent a bunch of her old T-shirts to someone who arranged them, stitched them together, then backed it all with fleece. Unfortunately, there was no stitching holding front to back except along the hem, so when it went into the wash, it got all wrapped up in itself. So I picked about a dozen corners and took a single stitch to anchor front and back together. Here’s hoping I did enough.

OK, time to clean the critter fountain. Or maybe I’ll read a little, then attack the fountain. Decisions, decisions…

Back from the shop, I made 3 things for the gift shop guy, the stain is currently curing. I’ll go back in the morning and spray a couple coats of finish on them. But now, sloth shall occur.

Hope y’all are having a great weekend.

Work is done, I read but retained little
{{{{{assorted hugs, 1 noogie }}}}}

I went to bed really early–like about 7:00–and slept until after 7 this morning. I guess I was tired. Missed a text from Dogkin’s person asking if she could come pick up the (huge) crate. I texted her this morning to ask if sometime today would work and haven’t heard back.

I haven’t decided if I’m going to put up a tree this year. I’ll be spending Christmas alone, which I’ve done before and is fine, but I’m not sure I want to put up the tree for just me. I know Boo would. I’m just not feeling it. I AM looking forward to gift-wrapping, though, which starts today. I may even play some XMas music. (I know a lot of people hate it when others use “XMas” instead of “Christmas,” but I like the historical roots. I promise not to use it too much.)

I cleaned out a cupboard this morning and found I have WAY too many packages of chocolate chips. Should I make fudge?

VanGo, yay on both the demand for your work AND the sloth! And I hope you do get a pup or two because I, too, want to see photos. Do you have a fenced yard?

MetalMouse, do you officiate indoor soccer, too?

shoe, cute photo! I hope Gentleman Caller explains his absence satisfactorily and is up for more fun.

FCM, I hope you get to enjoy some sloth. Is BIL improving?

BooFae, you’re so sweet to donate Ophelia’s unused meds. I know putting away the cat bed, etc. is heart-rending. {{{{{{BooFae}}}}}}

flyboy, that was great that you got to bring Mrs. LA a tenderloin. And fashion trends have to start somewhere. Might as well be with you!

Wifey hates my bow ties. She said I look like a professor or a weather man. Last year, there were at least two people wearing bow ties at the party. They and their wives assured The Missus that bow ties are indeed stylish. I always get compliments; but she still doesn’t like them.

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t put up a tree for at least a decade, maybe more. I am, in close circles, known for my “bah, humbug!” Divorced and alone, kids grown up and flown the nest, cat marauders who repeated trashed trees. Weary spirit, why bother…… For some reason this year I got interested in the potential spirit lift of twinkly lights when my daughter offered me back the 5 foot tree I gave her when she and my dear SIL set up their first place.

I have completely different cats now, they have evinced utter disinterest in this tree. I think it helps that I didn’t have nearly enough energy and momentum to decorate it beyond clear lights. That’s what I love, what I longed for, so that’s what I did and only that.

It feels like such a victory that I persevered and got my lighted tree up. I may leave the sucker up all of the forlorn, dreary, cheerless, seemingly endless bleak wintery month of January, just to get my effort’s worth out of it.

I think I’ll just leave the lights on it and move it to the empty bedroom with a sheet thrown over it. If I take it apart and stash it in its bag I might never get it back together and up again. Dragging it out and plugging it back in I’ll probably be able to pull off. Here’s hoping the lights all light up when I do :crossed_fingers:t3:, I cannot go through that chore again.

This is like the “should I get a puppy?” question. Yes, absolutely yes. Make fudge.

Pretty much (we are grown-ass adults here) and seems like yup, once I’m over this $%!@ respiratory crud.

Long Night closing shift tonight, and I will be on drive tonight. I’m fixing food now so I don’t work on an empty tum, and hoping for not too many idjits trying to hit on me. (“Hi! Do you have an order?” “Hey, how YOU doin’ babe?” “Got arctic cold wind blowin’ into my eyeballs, now … do. you. have. an. order?” “Aw, no, baby … I wanna place an order … with YOU babe!”)

You could be like doggio and just leave it up where it is. Just throwin’ that out there…

Still haven’t cleaned the critter fountain, but I did make a big batch of pseudo-shepherd’s pie (ground beef, not mutton) and made 8 pot-pie size servings for my inlaws. Plus there was enough left for tonight’s supper for us. And I did the dishes and wiped down the counters - the kitchen is almost presentable now!

They’re on their way back, and for whatever reason, FCD didn’t turn on his GPS and ended up missing the exit to I95 south. Fortunately, when he called, he hadn’t gone too far out of his way and I know that part of the Beltway since it’s where I grew up, so I got him turned around. I’ll find out BIL’s condition when he gets home.

He’ll stop here on the way to get the foods, then take his folks home. And I hope we have a nice, quiet evening - goodness knows he’ll need it.

I think I need another recliner break.

Hold that thought and remind me of it early in January .

doggio, tell me more.

Happy Saturday!

It was a chilly 28 degrees at the park this morning. There was no wind, so it didn’t feel too bad.
We were supposed to get some snow, but didn’t.
Bits of drama, but I’m not involved, and I think everything is coming to a head with Barky/Humpy mom.

As those who are following know, Lucy dad does not like Barky mom. It goes beyond dislike into detest.
I am central texting, and I text everybody in the morning to see who is going and what time, and now that it’s cold outside, I include a weather report. One of the offshoots of that is to let those who want to know, if Barky mom is going. I always feel a bit guilty about it, but it saves some drama if people know in advance. Some will come later, go to a different park, or stay home.

If Barky mom is going, Lucy dad will go on the small dog side to stay away from her. It’s not a problem because no small dogs show up early, and even if they did, Lucy ignores other dogs.
Lately Coco and Lui have been going over to the small side, because they play well together when Barky and Humpy aren’t around.
When Barky and Humpy are there, the tension escalates and fights happen.
Barky and Humpy don’t know how to play. As long as everybody is running, they are good, but as soon as the running stops, they get into the other dogs’ faces and bark. Sometimes the dogs want to lay on the ground and wrestle, or they want to take a break, or they want to chew on each other.

Yesterday, I wasn’t there. Barky and Humpy were on the big side with Jax and Rocky, neither of whom play with Barky and Humpy. Lucy, Coco, and Lui were on the small dog side. When Jax and Rocky left, Barky/Humpy mom took them to the small dog side with the other dogs.
Lucy dad got up and left, Coco dad and Lui mom were pissed off, like does she not understand we come over her to get away from her? They didn’t say anything though.

Today, the big side was Cerby, Rocky, Sky, Jax, Barky, and Humpy. Ripple and Echo went on the small side with Lucy dad. When Coco and Lui showed up, they went straight to the small side. None of the dogs will play with Barky and Humpy. Jax only cares about playing ball, Cerby only cares about chasing the laser, Sky joined in with him, and Rocky just won’t play with them. Eventually, Ripple and Echo came over to the big side, but they want nothing to do with Barky and Humpy.
So Barky/Humpy mom decided to take her dogs to the small side to play with Lui.
Lucy dad got pissed and left, Coco dad sent me a WTF? text.
Of course, Barky and Humpy went right into their routine of cornering Lui and barking in his face.
I also saw Barky over there laying on her belly and barking. I thought wtf? She was barking at a water bowl.

Well, Barky/Humpy mom picked the wrong day to do it.
Grumpy Old Man was the park attendant today. GOM is a stickler for the rules. He is the one who banned the woman with three dogs from the park, even though nobody had complained about her. He yelled at me for letting Ripple off leash to go from the truck to the gate. He is no nonsense, no patience, never cracks a smile, gets annoyed if the dogs go near him. You should have seen him the day Urban stole a pack of cable ties out of his pocket. He was not amused.
I do my best to avoid GOM, but if I do see him, I always say good morning, even though he just grunts in return.
He had left the dog park and was down on the walking trail emptying the trash cans as Rocky mom and I were leaving. Rocky mom was already in her car, I was sitting on the bench outside the park with Ripple while my son was getting Echo (who pulled a Lily again today). Cerby was already in the truck.
Here comes GOM driving back up to the dog park. He got out of the truck and I said good morning to him, and all he said was, I can’t let this go on. I said, the barking dogs? and of course, I got nothing.
I thought it might be because of big dogs on the small side.

GOM went right in there and, I heard from Coco dad, told Barky/Humpy mom that he was getting complaints from the neighbors about the barking and she had to leave.
I don’t know if he kicked her out for the day, or if she got banned.
I haven’t heard from her. As far as anything goes, I know nothing. I’m not getting in the middle of it.

I hope you and FCD do have a quiet evening, FCM.

Congrats VanGo
Very pretty work.
I say get a puppy, but I am probably the wrong person to ask. My answer is almost always going to be, get a puppy, or a dog. Unless you are Niece2, then I’d say, get a goldfish.

Happy Partying, Swampy

Sounds like you had it worse with Polar, Taters.
That is a lot to deal with. Cerby isn’t so bad as I worry about his personality quirks.
He has bitten a lot of people, he is unpredictable, he can be aggressive, he gets out of control.
He wasn’t so bad with the mailman today. He ran to the door barking, but he didn’t get into a frenzy and claw at the door. I told him he was a good boy to let us know, but it was okay now and he didn’t need to bark anymore. He still barked, but not so ferociously.

I ordered some balls for the ChuckIt that light up when they bounce. I hope that will distract him a bit from the laser pointer.

I should do something today, besides nap and play on the internet.

Howdy Y’all! We ate. We drank. We made merry. A good time was had by all. We sent everyone home with some ham so there would not be so much in da cave. There’s enough of ham and the other leftovers for us for tomorrow and enough ham for sammiches for a day or two. Everyone was gone by around two-thirty. We loaded the dishwasher and then achieved nappage. Dishwasher is swishin’ away as I post. Chillage is the order of the evenin’.

Ace glad hubby’s heart problem is not too bad. Hope he gets the stent soonest without major problems with insurance.

MOOOOOOM glad you’ve had a day of some sloth. Here’s hopin’ for a nice relaxin’ evenin’ for FCD and you. Hope all the sickies are on the mend soonest.

Taters have fun celebratin’ son’s Bday today.

Nellie the answer to should I make fudge is always yes.

FlyBoy sounds like the soiree went well. Good on you for bringin’ the missus a filet and your dessert.

Good Morning Y’all! Good Afternoon Andrea and Dani Good Day Michael! Good Morning, Doug! Good Morning Peggy! Happy Friday!

VanGo a puppy or a young adult doggie would be good. Go with the one you really want. As long as there are lots of pics, we’ll all be good either way.

red nice of you to babysit and I am sure Nelson loved bein’ with his little girlfriends.
