You can't beat a Krampus Night MMP!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Portable Rule 34.

I survived. Barely. Got really light-headed a couple of times & had to sit my ass down (tunnel vision is super not fun) but my manager AND another hourly both called out sick today. The G.M. covered for the manager, and otherwise we were just short.
Good thing we were dead-ass slow. I think we got two orders the entire last hour … which at least made for a lighting fast close.

I’m eating (okay, I’m finishing my breakfast - a McDonald’s bagel, don’t judge) but at least I’m putting something solid in my tummy to accompany all the cough syrup I’ve been downing.

And Monkey is being a cuddlebug, which is nice.

Good job, Monkey!! Keep being a good nurse kitty, your Mama needs you.

Buddy is yoyoing between wanting in and wanting out, and I just got another reminder just how unusual Allie and her predecessor, Felix (RB) are/were. At least since I got married in 1995, I’ve never had to worry about turning my back on something like cutting up cooked poultry, since neither are/were counter cruisers.

Buddy is.

I foolishly left some cooked turkey I was cutting up unattended while I made a brief trip out to the dumpster with a rather smelly too-long-leftover that needed to be evicted (didn’t want it in the kitchen trash smelling up the place), came back in to find that Buddy very much likes turkey and had zero qualms about helping himself (he did leave a reasonable amount for me). He’s gotten up there a few more times since, hoping for more. Hopefully, cleaning and Lysoling the cutting board and wiping down the counter with Simple Green got rid of tempting smells. Little brat.

Doing some kitchen mine-out and organizing led to the need to ditch most of my spices (some had “best before” dates ten years ago!), so I now need to hit up Walmart or Instacart to restock. Yay. OK, so I haven’t been doing much scratch cooking lately and really ought to, for nutritional reasons and to an extent financial efficiency.

Another morning of waking at 4. Do not like!! As delightful as the grands are, I’m starting to long for the day when I don’t have primary day care responsibilities for them. Roxy will start kindergarten next school year, but Tobias is still going to need tending for several years. I’ll need to have a hard discussion with Daughter and SIL - I turn 69 next month, which means my 70s approach soon thereafter. Dealing with littles for more than a few hours is more and more challenging.

Plus, frankly, I’m tired right now and I don’t want to deal. No choice, alas. One does what one must.

I think after we drop Roxy at school this morning, Tobias and I are heading to the Mart of Wal. I need kitty litter, dog food, and scouring pads. A shopping trip will break the long morning.

When I get home this evening, I need to do laundry - at least a couple of loads so we have enough to get us thru our trip and a couple more days. With luck, I’ll be home before sunset.

Whine whine whine

Happy Wednesday!

Good Wednesday morning all. It’s rainin’ and 59F with predicted high of… 59. I guess we’re there. Up and considering my second cup of plain jane wal mart coffee. Any port in a storm, right?

Apologies for not keeping up with my Mumpering and everyone’s stuff – just been bogged down. I promise to Mumper better next week!

The latest in the truck-wreck drama is good news. Yesterday all parties got in sync and texted/called/emailed to announce I can put the truck in the shop and they’ll even cover a rental car for a few days. I didn’t “lower the boom” as I threatened earlier but had actually found the docs from last lawyer-ing we did, and put their number in my phone – just to get ready. So, the truck’s scheduled to get fixed, the mechanics have finished removing all the stuff that the other, pickier mechanics are skeert of, etc. etc. Based on various estimates and psychics, I might get it back by mid-January.

My primary doc sent me to an MRI over some shoulder/neck issues and they found some worrisome cervical stuff (huge words I don’t understand). Next is a CT scan (whatever that is) and back to primary for a discussion. Ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) is having her turn at me today, as there are some scary recurrences of my retina problems from two months ago. She says the wreck was a “trauma” (her words) that happened too soon after the other stuff to ignore. Hopefully all this will turn out to be Ibuprofenable and nothing more serious. (If that ain’t a word, it should be)

So, now we’ll play musical cars for a month while trying to cover all the holiday trips. I’ll spare you the details, but if we get in a bind with our reduced “fleet”, I may call that lawyer’s number again and tell him I want a nice car to drive. We’ll start with Ferrari and work our way down from there. :sunglasses:

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week.

Oh, and thanks much for all the well wishes for my dog. He’s his old self again!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out with a DENSE FOG ADVISORY in effect and with a predicted high of 79 and cloudy for the day. We shall procure provisions this mornin’ and who knows what from there. We shall swipe the General’s sup.

Yanker glad the truck-wreck drama got somewhat worked out. It’s a good thing to have yourself checked out as well. So glad doggie is his old self again!

shoe you survived. YAY!

Nettie you left nummy smellin’ and tasty stuff out. Obviously that meant you wanted Buddy to help himself.

MOOOOOOM just two more days and you get away.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Life is just so difficult sometimes!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Just not used to having a cat who considers human food interesting.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 38 degrees cloudy (according to the forecast). The expected high is 47, and we’ll have cloudy skies all day. The snow has mostly melted off, though some road surfaces remain icy due to the cold overnight temperatures and wet surfaces from melting snow.

I have opted to take today off. I had something very long written up, but I deleted it. BLUF: A reorg is happening, and over 100 of us are screwed, I warned the SD this would happen, she didn’t listen to me but I’m the one paying the price for it. I have my resume ready and will be applying elsewhere even though she wants me to stay. There is much, much more, but those are very basics.

FCM, I really hope you can have that conversation with your daughter sooner, rather than later and that she finds an alternate source of care. I also hope you really enjoy your trip and it’s not interrupted by anything from home.

Polar used to counter surf, but only when someone left a cube of butter or cream cheese out. He knew it was wrong, and he’d get sent outside to the kennel, but he literally smiled every time and it’s like a little thought balloon popped up that said “It was SOOOOOO worth it”. He didn’t scuttle away like he did something wrong either.

pullin, I’m glad there is good news on the truck repair front, and hope all goes well with the medical stuff.

Today is my youngest child’s 30th birthday. Where does the time go!? I will be sending him birthday wishes later. If he doesn’t have plans for the weekend, I’ll invite him up for a celebration dinner.

nellie, I’m glad the necklace arrived!

Well, I think I need another cup of coffee. Two isn’t enough.

I hope you all have a fantastic or at least easy day!

???

Well, I’ve managed to put out a couple of applications for call center gigs. One’s WFH in healthcare (which I’ve done before), the other will probably involve a bit of a commute, but pays better than DH’s current wage. It’s still before business hours here in CA, so we’ll see if/when I hear back. Will also look at other openings that fit. I am going to take nice PT guy’s advice at this point and stick to desk work due to my back issues.

On the plus side, the number on the scale has dropped again. I do seem to be, with just about no effort, dropping around a pound a month, just by paying more attention to what and how much I eat.

BLUF–Bottom Line Up Front. Then I had to look up WFH (Work From Home). Mundane stuff collected. Pills taken, paper retrieved. It’s 66F here in N. Ali-bama with rain coming and they sticking around most of the day. Still need to get to a place or two and do my gym stuff, but better take an umbrella along. Least it is still warm (67F right now).

Seanette, glad to hear about the weight drop. I seem to be stuck at about 270lbs, after New Year’s I’m going to switch to Pepsi Zero to try and reduce calories and see how that does. Good luck on job hunt.

Taters, sounds like stressful times, hope the new job search goes well for you, too.

Yanker, sounds like a good conclusion to the truck saga, albeit it’ll take a month to get it working again. Stay after the insurance folks on this. And hoping it’s nothing major on the medical front.

shoe, one day at a time. Hope you get to feeling better.

nellie, hope it’s simpler than my problem was, took several visits and many dollars to fix.

OK, back to the moring internettin’. Everyone have a good Hump day.

That’s pretty good. From my accident to getting the car back was 3 months. Guess the supply chair was worse last year.

Back from Walmarting with Tobias. Mostly chillage now till I have to get Roxy at 3. Not that whiny-boy will let me chill.

Mornin’ everyone. Ah, Wednesdays, eh? They’re truly something…

I hope you feel better soon, shoe.

Welp, back to the ol’ grind again…

I was giggle-snorting last night in my car after reading you guys’s replies.

Today’s a chemo day today for mom, so I’ll be taking a field trip around lunchtime. I have yet to register my laptop to our ISP, but I’ll do that tonight. The older one sort of works, so I’ll limp along out of sheer laziness. Save the spankin’ & douching for later (a comment I never thought I’d make).

It’s grey and gross today and I would rather not work despite the swanky new equipment. I also have to do video conferences, so I had to slap on some warpaint, aka makeup, so I don’t frighten any small children in the background.

My day is semi-quiet, but there are some corporate shennanigans afoot. Meetings with higher-ups being canceled right & left and people heading for the door. Time to get the popcorn and pull up a seat. This will be interesting.

So “Fox”, “Suspect” and the rest of the temps were raring to go, and full of Red Bull, while eerybody on the processing side wasn’t. So I got buried in bags. Then the SSLAW kept going down, so Panamanian Vince did the same. For the love of God, Montressor!
Also it’s the Feast of St. Nicolas, who leaves candy in your show. Which is a bit of a downgrade form the original bags o’ money.

And hope the docs and mechanics get everything patched up for you.

Alex Catt is too lazy to jump that high. Gordie likes human food, but doesn’t counter surf. Except for the Rum Cake Incident of 2011.
Good luck on the job search.

Sounds fun; keep us updated.

Boo’s thing should be arriving today. I hope it had a good time in CA cause it sure stayed long enough!

Because nothing can be simple for us, BIL was taken to the hospital unconscious after MIL couldn’t wake him this morning. FCD is there with them but he doesn’t know what’s going on.

So chances are good that we won’t be having our anniversary weekend…

Oh, my god. How absolutely terrifying! I hope it’s not an O.D. of some kind …

Sorry, sorry. Maybe not what you need to hear. I truly hope the docs can figure out what’s wrong, and I’m just as truly sorry your trip is endangered.

Keep us posted as you can/feel up to it, and {{ huggzz }} from afar.

That’s awful to hear. I hope everything works out well…

:people_hugging:

Unlikely that it’s an OD. He was diagnosed with a really bad infection earlier this week - it could be related to that. Waiting to hear what they figure out .
