You don't like tattoos, Clothahump. We get it.

Yet here we are, two pages and several good discussions later. :o

Silly Sally likes tattoos, but she doesn’t like body art.

Admit it. This is just a pile-on on Clothahump personally. If other posters had written the same things, it would have been ignored.

You’re wrong. I didn’t know the first thing about him until I saw his warning from Ellen. Then I did a search for posts containing the word “tattoo” with his name, and brought up the ridiculous link he made between self-harm and tattoos. The opportunity was too good to pass up. But I didn’t know him from Adam before that.

Not that you’re going to acknowledge this reply, or care in the slightest.

No, but I would seriously question your fashion sense.

As for the ‘‘everybody has one’’ aversion, I don’t get it. Everybody has a lot of things. Why single out tattoos?

Why wouldn’t I acknowledge your response?

I just feel this thread is an overreaction to something Clothahump said once five years ago.

I’ve been thinking about getting a tat for years, but I could never think of one I wouldn’t mind being stuck with forever. I think you’ve come up with my future tat. Thanks!

It certainly felt that way at the time! badum-tish

(but actually, yes, I was there in part to enjoy solstice celebrations. Watching the sun rise over the Bay with several excited pagans, including the woman who wrote the single most important book in your spiritual life = not soon forgotten.)

I occasionally suspect that some people get tattoos so that they can tell stories about how they were unfairly judged for having tattoos.

If you are literally that paranoid-cynical about human nature, I recommend therapy.

That doesn’t seem horrendously out there to me - it fits somewhere on the “rebellion/individual/look at me - I’m different, just like everyone else!” spectrum.

Not even if it’s inked into his skin?

We are already aware that a tattoo killed your entire family and made you watch, so I’m not sure why you insist on reliving the terror in these kind of threads.

Has Clothahump ever explained why he doesn’t like tattoos?

Personally, I have an intense fear of needles, and I can’t look at a tattoo without thinking about the process that created it, and imagining the pain involved, which makes me feel nauseous. For that reason, I wouldn’t be able to sleep with someone who had a tattoo. I’m not saying it’s a sane reason, but it’s a possible reason for him!

I do not like tattoos or understand why people get them. But I also know it is none of my business. I don’t have to have one . If you want to make a decision about putting a permanent mark on your body when you are young, I think you ignore the changes people go through during their lives. If you change your feelings about them, it is too bad. it is there. Just seems to not be a wise decision.

I still think that a lot of people wouldn’t enjoy their tattoos half as much if they couldn’t find the occasional grumpy old coot or super religious wilting flower who was irrationally prejudiced against people with tattoos. That doesn’t mean I think everyone with a tattoo feels this way, just, as I said, some of them.

You could be right, but that statement describes 0% of the tattooed people I know, who do not get any positive feelings for being badly judged on the basis of their tattoos.

http://www.oddee.com/item_96602.aspx Yes I think you can overdo it.

Well, not my entire family…

“Grumpy old coot?” ME? Well, yeah, kind of. Just glad I can contribute to the full tattoo experience.

We all have our roles to play. You get to be the villain this time. Consider yourself lucky, the villain usually has the juiciest and most fun role in the film. Plus, you get to have a mustache!*

*It’s odd, I’ve always spelled it moustache, but that is apparently the British way of doing it.
