You Mexican Bastard
This is precisely the kind of intellectual sleight-of-hand we’ve all come to expect from you people of mixed race (Cherokee, Georgian, and libertarian).
Hey! I’m Cablanasian, and I’m highly offended by that mixed race comment.

I need a lemonade and iced tea to cool off.

Waiter, what’s that called again?

Nancarrow, thanks… I said “mild and harmless phishing” when I meant to say “mild and harmless trolling”. I need to work on my web lingo – sorry.

Funnily enough, I enjoy much of the banter in this thread, because pointing out the silliness (in general) of labels, whether “Carolinian” or “Libertarian” or whatever, is spot on.
Man, you really are a twit. Neither I nor most people in this thread, including most of the actual Mexicans, think there was anything offensive about the thread title or OP. I guess that must mean that none of us “care about people.”
Tell us, gringo wiseass, how many actual Mexicans bastards have posted on this thread?

Orale, guey, yo soy bastardo.

Several years ago I went to China for an extended trip providing construction supervision. Before I left I had a Chinese guy in my office teach me two things in Mandarin. I learned to say, “I only know two sentances in Mandarin” and “This is the other one”.

You’ll appreciate this.

Ah, a fellow transplant. I spent the first half of my life w/ the Carolinian race, and the second with those Georgians.

Of course, I have that in common with approx. 450 thousand other Atlantans.
And God knows how many Mexicans.
For that matter, are we absolutely sure that there is no salsa in the Palmer woodpile?

KJellyMap and Liberal: The OP meant no offense to Mexicans or Bastards. That you have chosen to take offense for them is of no interest to anyone besides yourselves. It just makes the rest of us glad that we aren’t you.

Perfect!

Psst… I think you need to reread Liberal’s posts. Try squinting a little and see if they make a different impression.

Crap! You’re right. I missed the sarcasm. Mea Culpa.

As an Atlantan, I hope you realize that you cannot marry a woman without gills.

Honestly, is anyone offended here actually of Mexican descent? (snip)

I’m a Mexican! Living in Mexico, even!

(but I’m not offended… still, one out of two ain’t bad)
I dunno… if I had a job where the owner’s honey showed up from time to time and tried to tell me what to do, I’d pretty much do the same. You admit to not being his boss, but you want him to do what you tell him? Would you do something he tells you to do? He is in no position to tell you “Fuck off, I’m not your bitch!” since you’re shagging the owner, so he shrugs and ignores your requests. Next time you are at work, try acting like Avi’s coworker instead of someone above him on the food-chain and see if his communication skills improve.
Damn, do you ever jump to conclusions? Let me set the record straight.

My girlfriend is not the owner. She is the chief horticulturist. I’m sorry if “my girlfriends company” was misleading, but she has worked there for years. My sister works for an airline, and I sometimes will say something along the lines of “I got the ticket’s from my sister’s airline.” I don’t mean to imply that my sister owns the shitty Airline coughcoughbasedinAtlantathat will remain nameless. Secondly, my girlfriend speaks perfect Spanish (well,… Catalan), but doesn’t ever work with the crew so she’s doubly (triply?) irrelevant to the situation.

The owner, however, does not speak Spanish. But since I’m the part-time fix-it guy, sometimes I’ll be at the shop working on the forklift or something and she’ll ask me to drive to such and such and tell Avi that the client just called and wants such and such done. Sure, I tell him to do stuff. But I’m just the damn messenger! Avi was probably lying to me 'cause he doesn’t want it to get back to the owner that he speaks English. But damnit, Avi, I’m smarter than the owner! That’s why I don’t work here! ::chuckle::. Hell, I probably would cover for you if you just asked.

Yeah, but really, would you have posted the same type of thing you did here regarding CNN’s use of the sentence fragment "The nation’s first Hispanic attorney general is being pressured to resign…"After all, you’ve tried to point out that “Mexican” was irrelevant in my OP, and therefore unwise. Is the “Hispanic” label relevant here? Is CNN implying that all Hispanics are Attorney Generals? Are you worried that people will stop reading after the first couple of sentences and think to themselves “there goes the neighborhood, a family of damn Attorney Generals just moved in next door. I bet all those pricks are being pressured to resign. Go Back to Washington!”?

So, “trolling” is another word you don’t actually know the definition to, I see.

Hijack of a pitting of Mexican bastards.

So, the owner of a landscape company, which underpays people so that only illegal Mexicans will work there, can figure out the part about making money but can’t be bothered learning how to talk to the people she exploits.

Pay people real money and get real work from them.

Oh, how much does this bastard make? Does the president pay benefits? Are they covered by insurance?

Wow. What kind of self-righteous hectoring can’t be wrung out of the OP’s little rant?

It looks like an ordinary fist, but the rope of handkerchiefs just keeps coming and coming…

Well, several posters to this thread have agreed with me that the title was intentionally provocative, probably meant to attract a particular reaction from particular people that has nothing to do with the content of the OP. That is a perfectly good definition of a mild, essentially harmless version of what many call “trolling”, as at least one other poster to this thread has observed. If you choose to place the threshold between “trolling” and “not trolling” at a higher level of viciousness or ill intention than I do, fair enough. I implied all along that this would be a marginal case, not worth the attention of the Mods (especially here in the Pit).

You don’t write headlines, do you?
I honestly appreciate that this observation has been noted – in all seriousness, it didn’t occur to me at first. If so, then, it could be seen as a mild, harmless form of phishing – specifically, phishing for “offenderati” or whatever it is that you idiots call 'em.
Now we’re making some progress.

You know, your initial observation in your first post wasn’t that bad. But then you started to accuse the OP of racism, and that’s when you slipped into offenderati territory. (And that’s when I chose to comment on it.) Also, accusing me of “caring about birds more than people” because I disagreed with you about the offensiveness of the OP was downright silly.

Hey, I haven’t been out to BCI in ages. Most of my recent field work has been in Africa and Central America. If I spent any more time “checking out the wider world” I’d never get anything written up.
