Maven, I wish you good luck with your pregnancy and your baby-to-come. I hope that whatever course you choose, whether staying at home in the early days, or going back to work, works out well for all of you. Take heed of much of the advice offered here though, that new mums need more than just a few days or a few weeks to recover from the experiences your body and your mind go through. Having a baby is a world-altering experience, and sometimes our ‘ideals’ fall short of the realities that confront us. Whatever happens though will be nothing short of wonderful for you, provided you accept it and not push it off as a burden to be carried. I’m sure you’ll be fine and do ok…provided you listen to your baby and your body.

Jar, I’m not trying to get through to Maven as much as I am trying to get through to the other posters that their attempts at ‘helping’ have been thinly disguised condemnations (for the most part). I am not speaking for others but I think that the reason that this thread has gotten so ugly and so hateful is because people are FED UP.
If this had been the first train wreck she caused, I would be more inclined to see your side (not that I am not, but you know what I mean).
The fact is, this is not the first train wreck. Nor the second. Nor the third…
THIS is why there is such an intense backlash. Because in the past, ‘feeding the troll’ (as it may be) did nothing. In fact, it seemed that as soon as her threads stopped getting attention that she would cause a new trainwreck. So either way, we lose: feed her or not.
I also think a lot of people are miffed (in this I will include myself) because of the name change. We were duped into falling for another train wreck.
This is what happens, one could say, when you cry wolf too many times. People really stop giving a shit. Even the ones who initially rallied to your cause.

my first post in this thread (several pages back IIRC) was not in support of the OP. THe thread, IMHO had degenerated into a slug fest wherin several folks were talking about the OP, giving assesments about her character, lack thereof, other stuff she’d posted from other sources complete w/ nudge nudge wink wink, where can I see that, too crap. I hoped that it would die off w/o the OP coming back in to re-start it, and in fact, it had kinda dropped to the bottom of the first page of the pit. THen, jar checked in and bumped it up to the top. that’s when I made, what I think (IIRC) was my second post to this thread, commenting that, IMHO, no one’s opinion was likely to be changed, that people who wanted to see her in the best light would see this continuation as a pile on, and be reinforced in their beliefs, whereas people (and I specifically counted myself as one of them) who thought the OP was an ijiot weren’t changing their opinions either, and I suggested that well, shit, maybe if we all just stopped posting, it’d die.
then some one else came in and posted some other on topic comment, to which I replied something about wanting that damn pony again.
and for a brief shining moment, it appeared that the thread would turn into a pun-filled-sex-crazed hijack, which all could enjoy.

In short, my posts here were not of the ‘pull up a chair’ variety(which are a violation of board rules, and I resent your accusation that I’m in violation), and were fairly dismissive of the OP, but not to the extent that I thought it was ok to post /hint at links to other postings of hers elsewhere and mock them here. and were posted in the (apparently unsuccessful) hope that folks would not only stop the pile on and get on with their lives, but also not bother with her next ‘poor pitiful me’ thread when she posts it.
as for the ‘fuck off’ finger etc, we’re all proud of your coding abilities. Perhaps if you could extend that knowledge into areas where you actually responded to things people posted instead of your assumption about what they posted, we could get somewhere.
