The “stupid things your p’s told you” thread got me thinking - what do you say (or do) that you clearly trace back to your p’s, but thought was really stupid when they said or did it?
My favorite occurred when I was sweating my ass off cleaning the house, and one of my lovely spawn was bitching about being cold (of course without dreaming of putting on a sweater!) Without thinking, I said, “Do a little work, and you’ll warm up.”
I remember when I was a kid and my mom said that I used to wonder if she was brain damaged.
Oh yeah, and there’s “No singing at the table.” If you don’t have kids, you may not realize why such a rule is needed.
And the classic, “What if everybody jumped off a cliff?”
I clearly need help!
Surely there must be examples that apply to single folk, but I haven’t been single for so long …
