You stupid fucking assholes <Brexit>

I think I get it. You’re on the side of the angels, and anybody who disagrees with you must be evil. Does that sum it up?

Read it again you twit, I did answer, I consider Trump to be a Neo Fascist.

And it is clear that you are now avoiding dealing with that ADL reported about Trump.

Oh, well, I see that wolfpup is putting everyone up to speed on the oodles of crank magnetism that you have.

I didn’t ask if he was a neofascist, I asked if you were comparing him to Hitler. See what I mean about missing distinctions.

How am I to “deal with it”? The ADL doesn’t like him. Great. Doesn’t make him Hitler.

Wolfpup is an angry leftist. Of course he doesn’t like me. I also find that reassuring.

Nah, you are only helping show all that you do not know context if it did bite your but.

A neo fascist is not a guy like Hitler. But that logical effort is clearly beyond you.

As pointed before, just a follower of his ideas.

And it is not only leftists that arrived to that conclusion, but several conservatives as well.

[doper pendant] Arguments. [/doper pendant]

Proper grammar dictates that the beginning word of a sentence should be capitalized.

Don’t mind me just fightin’ a little ignorance here.

Ooh, what’s that internet law that talks about making a grammatical error whenever you correct someone else’s grammatical error?

I think you mean pedant. Unless you’re posting from a gallows.

That could be a case of following the lead of The Donald, who routinely says “pundint” when he means “pundit” (and in all likelihood, says “pendant” when he means “pedant,” too).

(Admittedly using “pundint” isn’t limited to Trump; I swear I’ve heard Bernie Sanders say it, too. But really. MUST we lose “pundit” the way we lost “nuclear”…???)

Gaudere’s Law.

(which, of course, I probably misspelled. :))

He’s asking you a legitimate question which you haven’t answered clearly at all.

This Brexit thing brings to mind the famous words of an ex-PM:

Anyway, I can only speculate about the size of the tax cut for the wealthy that will be required to smooth this one out.

“I think we’ve been through a period where too many people have been given to understand that if they have a problem, it’s the government’s job to cope with it. ‘I have a problem, I’ll get a grant.’ ‘I’m homeless, the government must house me.’ They’re casting their problem on society. And, you know, there is no such thing as society. There are individual men and women, and there are families. And no government can do anything except through people, and people must look to themselves first. It’s our duty to look after ourselves and then, also to look after our neighbour. People have got the entitlements too much in mind, without the obligations. There’s no such thing as entitlement, unless someone has first met an obligation.”

A fuller version for context.

Sorry to interrupt SDMB Trump Discussion #8973, but as the OP, please allow me to offer some (admittedly tardy) replies:

I’m actually looking forward to the carnival-like atmosphere of a Trump presidency. It will good for lots of LOL’s. I don’t live in your crappy country anymore, so for me it’s all entertainment.

Oh, for fuck’s sake, pull the stick out of your ass and exhale slowly. Yes, you and your better half may have been the paragon of calm, rational analysis regarding your votes, but do you really think that you are representative of the average ‘Leave’ voter? Really? :dubious:

You’re right - the ‘Remain’ camp should have refrained from playing the R-card. Would’ve been better to just call the opposition out on their general idiocy and mendacity.

Oh shit - you’re right. I forgot that earlier referendum in which the Irish electorate voluntarily acceded their sovereignty to their betters from Perfidious Albion. Which one was that again, I get my dates mixed up - 1171? 1594? 1641? 1798? My bad.

Cheer up, Brits! You’ve been offered a fantastic opportunity.

And you won’t have to go to the back of the queue.

Ted Heath didn’t call a referendum when we joined The Common Market, let alone a European superstate.

So, we took Ireland by force. That’s just the way they went about things those days. The people on the island of Great Britain didn’t have a referendum when the Romans, Saxons, Danes or Normans decided to turn up. We don’t still bang on about it, though.

I don’t whinge about the way Irish people vote for anything - that’s for them to decide. Same with the British; i.e. It’s none of your business. If it affects Ireland or the rest of Europe, or even the rest of the world, there’s obviously been too much reliance on Britain.

Which, to be fair, he should.

On the contrary, Heath played a leading role in the 1975 referendum campaign in which Britain voted to remain part of the European Economic Community (Common Market). Cite. The vote in 1975 was 67.2% in favor of remaining in the EEC.

Archive: how the Guardian reported the 1975 EEC referendum

 It may indeed be none of our business, but the whole world is interconnected, whether you like or not, and these interconnections go both ways.

That said, if Britain is determined to go it alone in the future, that can be certainly be arranged. This will actually save quite a bit of time, as no new trade agreements or the like will need to be negotiated.

Britain is of course free to do whatever it likes, including shooting itself in its collective foot.

It will be 20-30 years before a rational analysis of this vote can be done.

For now:
Either UK takes its leave quickly or the EU may make a point of kicking it out.

Nay “re-vote” will be seen as cynical manipulation by the losing side. About the only way a re-vote would have cover would be if EVERY public figure - government and private - who urged “Leave” were to publicly and loudly say “I fucked up”. We really need to stay - please vote “Stay” this time.
I know there would be no way in Hell that such a thing would occur in the US. I doubt that the Brits are all that different.
