OK - movie lovers. How about a little less than founded speculations? -
I predict Jackson’s “King Kong” will be a disappointment if not an outright flop. It’s 3 hours for gosh sakes!
I predict major awards will go to the gay cowboy movie, the unfortunately titled “Brokeback Mountain”.
I predict this will be yet another year wherein the choices for Best Actress will be described as thin. Major female talent will again bewail the lack of strong roles for women. Ms. Theron may again be nominated for a frump role.
“Wallace & Grommit” must surely win lots of animated film awards. Mustn’t they??
Well, we’re not at the end yet. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of biopics in December to pick from. Best Picture is nearly always historical, a biopic, or both.
People are talking about Joaquin Phoenix for Walk the Line. A nice little replay of last year’s Jamie Foxx win for Best Actor.
Based on the early reviews, Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Best Actor for Capote sure seems like a slam-dunk for at least a nomination.
Do they explore their sexuality with pudding?
Based on the short story, also called “Brokeback Mountain,” I’d say they explore it with beans and whiskey.
I still don’t think it’s a straight-up (ha) “gay cowboy movie,” but obviously I have yet to see the screen version.
Concentrating mainly on possible best pictures:
If they bring out Cinderella Man for a second chance, it could do better in the running.
Memoirs of a Geisha could be really good.
Jarhead will do well, I think.
I know nothing about The Libertine except that it is a period piece with Johnny Depp, so I’m shooting in the dark with it.
It’s possible that The Constant Gardener could resurface but it will most likely be overtaken by something else.
Mario Bello should be nominated for her incendiary work in A History of Violence.
Serenity will resurge at the box office climbing up to number one after word of mouth finally kicks in and per screen numbers reach $10,000. It tops 200 million net by year’s end.
That’s a pretty conservative estimate.
WTF is serenity?
If I didn’t hear about it, there is ZERO chance of it reaching anything close to number 1.
Sorry, but really? WTF
nerds
Uh, it’s okay that you didn’t hear about it, but your reaction and tone are unnecessary.
Serenity was a movie based on the cancelled Firefly series. It did not do as well as fans were hoping, even though it was well-received by critics.
Enderw24 is kidding about it making such a surge. You can tell he’s kidding by the 10,000 screen joke and the idea that it would be in theaters until next year.
My humble suggestion would be to not post drunk.
