Your favorite hair color

So what hair color do you prefer on the opposite gender (or same gender for our gay Dopers)? For me it’s gotta be in order:
Redheaded women. Definately redheads, from a very early age.
Black hair, although raven-haired with bangs might top redheads.
Blondes are so 1950s, and brown hair is so damn indistinct.

Black-haired men, Mideastern-looking. Dark features, constant 5-o’clock shadow, heavy eyebrows, long eyelashes.

My partner fits this description, but his hair is slowly getting a little gray, evenly all over, the way I like it.

I married a woman with dark-brown, almost black hair, but when I was young and sowing my wild oats, it was redheds all the way.

I like black men, so obviously black, but usually women and kids I think are particularly pretty or cute are dark-haired too. There are plenty of good-looking people with light hair but for those people I don’t think their hair is part of their appeal.

Oh my, it’s hard for me to choose. I just know I’m not typically attracted to blonde men. Just does nothing for me. Dark-haired, dark-brown or black, absolute yes. But red-heads will turn my head no matter what. Red-heads don’t typically have the slim, shorter physical features I tend to like, though, so…

I can’t choose

Generally, dark haired men. For some reason light hair color seems less masculine to me. Maybe because blonde is associated so strongly with the stereotypical (female obviously) sex kitten?
Auburn is nice too. Ginger not so much.

If he’s a nice guy though, I wouldn’t care if his natural hair color was pink with orange stripes!

I dunno if I can pick one. Some redheaded women really do it for me - but then, I could think of several women in all categories that do it for me.

I always kinda figured that blonde did nothing for me 'cause the males in my family were all blonde until they hit their 20s

Hair colour is about the 100th thing on my list of things I care about.

As I have said before, red hair doesn’t always work; but when it does, it works very, very well.

May I tack on a related question?

As I’m sure the poll will show, men like red haired women a lot more than women like red haired men. Any idea why this might be?

Do gay men tend to like red haired men? Do lesbians tend to like red haired women? Do bisexual men tend to like red hair on one gender but not the other? How about bisexual women?

I think it’s related to your thread but if you find it’s too much of a tangent, tell me and I’ll just start my own thread.

I admit to liking red-haired men, even those flame-orange hair and freckles.

Just not as much as I like black-haired (#1) and brown-haired (#2) men.

Red-haired people have a reputation for being hot-tempered. Hot-tempered people have a reputation for being freaks.

Women don’t value freakiness as much because we can easily get freaks all we want.

Red, then blonde. But not bimbo blonde. And not bad-dye-job red.

Brunette women for me. However when I went to college in southern California I went through a “blonde-crazy” phase in life. Those UCSB blondes were fun!

Alas, that was 30 years ago (sigh).

I had a red haired girlfriend once ( for a very short time!) She had amazing hair. It wasn’t this dry frizzy red stuff it was an amazing golden red and very long and shining. She had very pale skin. Amazing boobs and such a beautiful face.

We were really good close friends for months but when the inevitable happened it was a disaster. She went to the bathroom for a shower and when she came out I noticed she had red eyebrows and red eyelashes! Her pale skin on her boobs was almost translucent and her veins made it look as though a feckin road map was drawn on her boobs!

I tried to hide my initial reaction but I was so shocked she obviously noticed.

Ended up very embarrassing. I had never seen her before that time without mascara.

damn

Agree on both.

The thing that amazes me is how few prefer blondes. With all those blondes with black roots I see, I would have expected most men (not me!) would prefer blondes. So why do all those women bleach their hair?

Black-haired men, particularly black-haired pale-ish men with light-colored eyes (no, I’m not a vampire nut–I just like striking combinations like that).

Fine. I voted blonde.

And really, I think everyone loves blondes. But no one wants to be seen as just another blonde-lover.
