Just heard “Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere” (Ready Steady Go version), saw it was 1965, and figured it had to be December of that year. It’s so obviously post-Rubber Soul, post-Out of Our Heads, post-Kinkdom.
Wrong. It’s from April. Wow.

There are several great Who songs, but I have to go with the OP, as that ten seconds of groove between the rhythm guitar and the drums about two-thirds of the way through the song are one of the coolest ten seconds in all of rock and roll.
Behind Blue Eyes
Won’t Get Fooled Again
Magic Bus
Substitute.
“Pictures of Lily” or “I’m a Boy”
Another vote for “Baba O’Riley”.
I admit, “Won’t Get Fooled Again” was the first song to pop into my mind upon reading the thread title. Followed by “Baba O’ Riley,” “Behind Blue Eyes,” “My Generation,” and “The Seeker.”
The Real Me
So Sad About Us.
I have to go for **Baba O’Riley ** or Teenage Wasteland as I first knew it.
I get it. I stopped listening to some songs like “Stairway to Heaven” and “American Pie.” But recently I tried them again and remembered why they got so overplayed.
Everything old is new again. Except us.
905
Trick of the Light.
Though, in recent years, The Seeker is sneaking up on it. It’s the Who-iest of all Who songs, IMHO.
Not really a Who fan, but I love “Squeeze Box.” It’s fun to play it for people.
“Trim Up The Tree” is a favorite this time of year.

The Song is Over
A story: When I used to turn my radio dial to get my college stations, the big classic rock station signal used to bully it’s way in, so that you had to jiggle with it a little. i swear that for a whole year or more it was always a song from “Who’s Next” No lie! It’s tough to keep loving it, but I do.
Pinball wizard is #1 for me.
Right this moment, it’s Pinball Wizard because I just learned the intro. But my all-time favorite is Won’t Get Fooled Again, just for the best primal scream in rock music history.
“You Better You Bet” “Baba O’Riley”
Witten by Daltrey! Though if you believe Townshend, he still had to help.
I listened and I heard, music in a word… What a lovely choice, I hadn’t thought of that in a while.
This is difficult. I owned every album, band or solo, and every bootleg scrap I could find. Still, “Quadrophenia” meant so much to me that I think I have to go with 5:15 or The Real Me.
Were solo songs allowed, I might go with Keep Me Turning…
