There once was a band named Husker Du
They had an album named Zen Arcade
What kind of games would you find in a Zen Arcade?
The band was from Minneapolis, MN.
I am too.
So. I guess mine’s obscure.

Only those who are into obscure underground metal will understand my location. As far as I can remember, ultrafilter’s the only one who’s commented on it.
Iused to change mine regularly, sometimes within the same thread as a further comment that some other posters would notice and often get.
Then, I stumbled on to my real location, which I’ve left unchanged for about a year and a half now.
Regards, Rodan
Mine is completely accurate and a reference to what I regularly tune in to.
I just prefer to call it was it is. That incident was over four years ago, can’t we just let it go?
I considered “The Wang of the U.S.” but I wasn’t sure if that was allowed, so I went with boring realism.
Someone here does (or did) have “America’s Wang” as their location.
Aesiron has a nice tribute to a former Trek Doper in his location line.
Another location checker, and much to my surprise, there is another doper (forget whom at this point) wo has joined me in the skies over Macho Grande.
Mine used to be boring and accurate, but one day I got testy because my posts never seemed to be seen by anyone - if I didn’t actually kill the thread my pearls of wisdom were just passed over without comment, so I changed my location in a fit of pique.
I’m not testy anymore, but I haven’t gotten around to changing it. Mostly because I’m not sure which way to go: obscure or accurate.
If you go with the former, I suggest “Valhalla”.
Mine is totally accurate while allowing me to remain safely anonymous.
I often felt the same, but now with a thread I started, that hasn’t died, and is still up here, close to the top after a whole day…well, I’m postively bursting with belonging-ness!!!
You might even say high on the hog… :smack:
I like it! And just may use it (to move past the testiness of what I have now).
Yeah, I always look at the location. People usually have some clever or vulgar or cleverly-vulgar reference there.
Shamed by some of the clever examples, I spiced mine up a bit.
I just stick with accurate, because when I joined up, I had exactly two thoughts at the same time.
So, I figure it’s good to be accurate, even if this place is like a Greyhound station at 4 AM. If they want to know who I am that bad, well, whatever. I got nothin’.
On an unrelated note, I find it amusing that people would think of Florida as the “Wang” (I so love that word…) when the country itself is consistently, poetically, referred to as, “she”.

Over Macho Grande? (Hey someone had to ask that quesiotn.)
The funny thing is that my “location” is from the same movie. That’s right, both are from the sequel and not the original.
…or, real estate agents.
In the absence of accuracy I’m just as likely to make something up and back it up as a fact. Example.
It’s a warning to others, and an escape hatch for me for when I think I’m right but get proved wrong.
That would be tdn. He’s a state-mate of mine, too, apparently.
I had a funny exchange with another Doper last week. He had asked if we might be homeboys, as he had grown up a few blocks north of my ‘location’. I told him to think about it, and get back to me. He came back and gave himself a smacky.
Any ‘other than New Yorkers’ care to hazard a guess?
