Chained to my desk at
work yet again during lunch.
Canned soup for me. Yuck.
There, that’s better!
Nuked slices of ham on a toasted English Muffin. Augmented with a few Pain Rustique crackers. An orange. Just discovered the crackers last week-- they’re real good!
I usually bring leftovers or a sandwich, but today the whole staff ordered out from a great little restaurant that does everything from scratch. I had their soup of the day – lentil, tomato and italian sausage, with a big, crusty roll for dipping. Quite spicy, and most satisfying. In fact, I’m drooling a bit just describing it.
Soooo glad you asked. I met 2 ex-coworkers for lunch. We’re all unemployed from the same place that closed months ago.
Anyway, we went to a Cuban restaurant that has a lunchtime weekday buffet.
I had a taste of each of the following: salad, a shrimp with veggies dish, yellow rice with sausage, black beans (LOVE black beans!), chicken, ribs, plantains, cuban sandwich (not a whole sandwich–they cut small portions for a taste). Ice coffee. 3-leche cake for dessert. YUM!!!
Oh yeah, someone mentioned Lent… I figure God knows I’ve given up enough this year and he/she knows I enjoy this food and gave me a break even though it’s Friday.
We seriously need a drool emote.
<tags the recipe for later use>
I don’t tend to eat much until I get home, but since I got up at 4.30 today, I decided that half a cup of soup from the kitchen would be ok.
It was just that: ok.
Been out of hot sauce and fixing for weeks in that kitchen; I hate buying food at work at all.
Need to work on bringing my own.
I just so rarely eat it! Grrr.
Yellowtail and Octopus nigiri. Split a volcano roll with the wife.
A fried egg sandwich with Cholula hot sauce. The eggs were fried in duck fat.
Wegman’s $6 meal deal. You get to pick a ‘main course’ of chicken francaise, baked tilapia, meatloaf, potato pancake, or whatever. Then a choice of two sides, like scalloped potatoes, rosemary potato wedges, mac & cheese, a whole slew of vegetables. I got the chicken, green beans, and carrots cooked with cider and pumpkin seeds. Mom had the parmesan tilapia, potato wedges, and roasted cauliflower. I recommend it! Can’t get such a good healthy meal at McDonalds, and $6 is pretty cheap. Thanks, Wegmans.
Tariyaki beef, with mushrooms, cabbage, carrots, all on rice from the Koya Japan outlet at one of the local malls.
A nice reuben and a few garlic dill slices made by my mother at her house.
