Favorite actress who shoulda oughta won an Oscar, but wuz robbed?
Irene Dunne.
Nominated five times, never won. BUT, was a bigger box office draw in her own time than any other actress, including Katharine Hepburn. Sadly, less remembered, for a weird reason-- her films were so successful, that a very large number of them were remade, and in her time, when a film was remade, the remaking studio bought the right to the original and pulled it from distribution, so her best films were not available until they came into public domain and available on video in the 1990s.
Oops. Favorite salad dressing.
Blue cheese…especially with crumbles! yum!
Favorite burger topping that isn’t bacon.
So, that could be a Boca burger, right?
Swiss cheese and mushrooms sauteed with onion.

Favorite place to get pizza
Place called Bazbeaux’s. They make deep dish whole wheat, and have artichoke and Feta as toppings.
Favorite car trip you have gone on.
Drove the entire length of the Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway in two days. Was utterly glorious fron start to end, and I wasn’t even the tiniest bit tired…
Favorite cruise you have gone on?
Alaska’s Inside Passage - stunning scenery, interesting trips ashore, good food.
Favorite airplane trip you ever took?
With my son to Maine to see my mother. We flew first class. My only time ever in first class, and the first plane trip the boychik remembered.
Favorite train trip you took.
First class on Via Rail from Toronto to Edmonton aboard The Canadian. I had a private roomette, excellent meals in the dining car, and bar service in the Park car at the rear of the train. I hope to do it again someday.
Favorite stage play that you’ve ever attended?
Can’t remember the name of it, but a Puerto Rican guy in a wifebeater played God and a girl showered naked at the front of the stage.
Favorite movie that was filmed at or near your home
I’m originally from Manhattan, and that’s too many to choose from. However, the city where I went to high school and college, and without planning to, actually spent more years of my life than any other, was Bloomington, IN. As far as I know, only one movie was ever filmed entirely in Bloomington, but it’s a very good one, and even one that holds up-- I saw it on TV about two years ago, and it was still a great movie.
So that’s my answer.
Favorite US release that was filmed somewhere besides NYC or Hollywood.
The Avengers, filmed mostly in Cleveland (and I’m in it for a few seconds!)
Favorite foreign film?
That’s actually sort of hard. My favorite foreign film is without a doubt Metropolis, but since I have seen only versions with English intertitles, that may not be what you mean. So then my favorite foreign language film is probably the French film The Four Adventures of Reinette and Mirabelle. However, after mentioning those two films, I feel obligated to mention another film I like just as well, if not more, which is an English language film, but an Australian film: My Brilliant Career.
Your favorite independent US film.
