Name of the Rose - Umberto Ecco. Although, I admittedly am not much of a mystery reader, apart from Conan Doyle’s works.

The Globe and Mail. It must be my favorite; I’ve been reading it since high school.

Ringworld, by Larry Niven. The sequels were meh, but I read the the original every couple o’ years.

My favorite fictional detective who is actually a detective and not an amateur sleuth is Lennie Briscoe. However, honorable mention, and a tip o’ the keyboard to my childhood, to Nancy Drew.
