Your most frequently used phone features in the MMP

I’ve been a Gmail/Google Calendar/Google Drive/etc. user for several years, and these days I have a Pixel – which is Google’s (Android-based) smartphone. The app I use the most is the one where I log what I eat and drink: I update that 3-5 times a day, and there’s no web-based version. I also use Google Keep reminders quite a bit, for when it’s time to take my meds/supplements (five times a day). And I use Google Maps a lot when I’m in the car. I have long accepted Google’s integration into every aspect of my life…they are my overlords, and I know that they know that I know it!

I text pretty frequently with certain friends, but most of the time I’m at home and using Google Messages so I can read/respond via web browser (I am really bad at typing on a phone). So even though it’s a phone-dependent activity, texting is something I mostly do on my desktop computer or iPad. Likewise, I spend a lot of time on email and Facebook, but mostly via desktop/iPad. Because mostly I’m home.

Speaking of mostly being home, my friends cancelled yesterday because the wife wasn’t feeling well. And I was supposed to go hear some music tonight in D.C., but a little while ago the venue cancelled due to technical issues. And, I’ve been going to the office on Wednesdays, but the co-worker who also goes then might have to meet with the customer this Wednesday and therefore wouldn’t go to the office. Which means it wouldn’t be worth it for me to go, either. So, now there’s a chance I won’t leave my house again until Saturday evening.

I think the dog is behind all of this…I just haven’t figured out how…

I had to read that twice in order to grok that the cookies and muffins were for your mother and not the dog wash. :joy:

You are way more patient than I would have been! I hope your complaint (finally) results in some action.

Besides the camera and texting, my cell phone is my audio book player. I like to listen to books while I stitch or drive and my phone makes it so easy.

Good luck with that, dental techs are in short supply nowadays.

If that doesn’t work, contact the feds. I’m in a dispute with Optima Medical because they won’t release my medical records, it is in the Feds’s hands now.

It’s looking to be a beautiful day so I’m planning on some quality porch time. It’s a little too windy to think about stitching but I’ve got 5 potted periwinkles that need to be put in the ground so I’m going to get that done today.

Happy Monday everyone. Another week closer to death…

You don’t need an app. As long as your voice command is on (or press the microphone in the Google search bar on the home screen) and say, “What song is this?”. It takes you right to the information on the song.

Mrs. L.A. is on the phone with a cousin in Tennessee. One of the cousin’s sister died in the Antelope Valley (northern Los Angeles County) this morning. Apparently she fell while the other sister was in the hospital, and was unable to get up. She was on the floor for 36 to 48 hours until the other sister came home. The sister called an ambulance and she was taken to the hospital. From there she went to a nursing home where they discovered a blood clot in her lung. She died on the operating table.

Also, I had my taxes done this morning.

Wow, sorry to hear about wife’s cousin @Johnny_L.A.

Good morning (err, afternoon) everyone.

I’m at home awaiting various meds to work their way around my sprained back so I can begin more chores. Also awaiting truckloads of furniture deliverymen, since we went to the furniture store on Saturday “just to look around”. I assume everyone knows how that turned out. The good news is I don’t have to do anything, the burly delivery folk are responsible for all movement and setups.

As to phone features, if the criteria is “total hours used” then my Audible app is the winner. I seem to average about 15-20 hours of listening a month, mostly while on long road trips betwixt various relatives.

Mrs. L.A. was out in the catio when I saw the Facebook post from her cousin. I didn’t want to tell her just before she headed out to see a patient, but I couldn’t not tell her. She cried, I hugged her, she talked to her cousin, and she said she’s OK. She’s out to see her patient now, though she’ll be a little late. I’m sure the patient will understand.

I FINALLY got my glasses and the lens isn’t coming out. It took three trips to the office to resolve this. I may change eye docs next year.

Meanwhile, I’ve been half-dozing in my recliner. Daughter and SIL will be returning our truck this afternoon. That’s pretty much today’s excitement. Supper will be salad or leftovers.

Turned into a gorgeous afternoon, the first truly warm & sunny day of spring. I had to irk today (thought I was off until last minute - oops!)
but I’m home now.

Gonna enter “chill” mode here soon & get a bit of sun on my legs.

Nikki is still limping and will be seeing the vet Wednesday mor… errrm, noon.

I hafta get two packages mailed off soon, so I need to get those prepared. There’s a load of laundry that ain’t washing itself, and I need to sort through the assorted papers & mail piled on my desk to locate all the tax stuff.

But that can all wait a bit. First, some Vitamin D! :sunny:

I finished off my three leftover hot wings from Saturday for lunch. I was looking in the fridge for some blue cheese dressing to dip them in, and found a jar of Bob’s with just enough dressing left. It tasted fine, so I used it. Its expiry date was last June. :stuck_out_tongue:

Red beans and rice is simmering on the stove, and all today’s chores are done. Ima take it easy the rest of the day.

be careful there’s a huge rolling forced upgrade coming as the government is making the carriers brick any phone under 4g sso check to see when your carrier is doing so

I use my phone a lot for texting. Also Facebook and games.

Hey everyone. I just love this central Florida weather. It’s gorgeous perfect everyday. Way less humid than the Keys.

Have a great week all.

I just took a loaf of French bread out of the oven, and I can’t wait for it to cool. If I do say so myself it looks pretty dang good, I have some brie cheese to to with it, and some gjetost too,

Zoo? I won’t ask which zoo, but what do you do at the zoo? I love zoos.

unknown, is your friends’ new kitteh deaf? Blue eyed white cats I had an odd eyed white cat once who was deaf on the side with her blue eye.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. I couldn’t get to sleep last night until about 4 hours before I had to be up, so I also napped for a few minutes once home.

I rarely use my phone for voice calls. I text, check email and FB, google stuff and take pictures. I also have quite a bit of music downloaded. Who’d’a thunk years ago that we would be keeping a date book, entertainment and a computer in our pockets or purses?

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Bah, phone and finances all frickin’ day. I had to fill out a form affirming that the money I gave to my daughter for their house was a gift, not a loan. Then their bank also wanted a bank statement. My statement won’t come out for two weeks yet, and it was a Zelle transaction, so I took a screenshot of the Zelle record and sent that. The underwriter must approve.

I got a call from the PT place. The surgeon’s referral said I have pelvic floor issues. Say what? Why would I consult a neurosurgeon at an ortho place for that? Anyway, they said Medicare is stringent that the referral has to state the area to work on, so I had to call the ortho clinic and leave a message. The PA called me back and said the surgeon wasn’t in today, so I had to call the PT to tell them that. They said to tell the ortho place they need it ASAP. Why can’t these places call each other?

I started a letter to the IRS, but epithets kept creeping in, so I’ll finish it later. Those same epithets are handy for working on the little table which, because it’s soft wood, absorbs stain unevenly. Somehow the swearing doesn’t help. I’m using paint thinner and, when it dries, manual sandpaper. VanGo, any suggestions? I keep telling myself not to be too fussy. It IS a table from the trash, after all.

My sister called because she’s having issues with her dental insurance. My son called and reported car issues. The moon must be in the 13th house of Norman Bates or something. All God’s chillun’s got problems.

Cell phones: In addition to texting, camera, and notes, and games (for waiting rooms only), I use

•my bank’s app to deposit checks
•a podcast service
•an audio books service
•plane and train ticket Q codes
•grocery delivery app (Just for tracking and IM-ing the shopper. I order on my laptop.)
•Netflix, but I only use that at the gym, as I hate peering at that tiny screen.

Oh, the irony! People spend half their entertainment time watching stuff on their tiny phone screens and the other half watching stuff on their giant TV’s!

Laundry is in the dryer, and the cats got some outside time in the sun & even some catnip. I’m having crusty bread and Brie, and a nice hot cuppa.

But … it’s 7 p.m. and I already wanna go to bed. Maybe just a lil nap …

nellie I think I missed or have forgotten the table you’re working on. Stain is a PITA on soft woods, cuz, as you say, it gets uneven really easily. There are pre-stain products which basically kind of fill the pores of the wood so the stain behaves better. Stuff like this. I generally just let the wood do what it wants to. I’m a holistic finisher. But cursing is always in use in my shop.

I finished building my plinths today, tomorrow they shall become white. Then I must build a giant desk, which I just got the real dimensions for… it’s 5’x8’ made 4 times. Ugh. Plywood comes in 4x8.
Dummies.

Baker Fresh bread and brie sounds lovely. Enjoy.

shoe Hugs to you and skritches to Nikki.

I went to the podiatrist because I have a cyst on the side of my toe and it presses and stings. We decided to aspirate and she numbed my toe and THAT stung. Unfortunately she couldn’t aspirate because it is blobular so now I need a, wait for it, MRI with contrast to see what it’s all about. A freaking MRI. For a toe. Toe bean cancer??.

Well, I’m joining the cursing. The (new as of a couple of months ago) printer won’t print. It keeps saying that I’m out of paper. I finally turned it off and rebooted my 'puter and am chilling for the rest of the evening. I’ll try again tomorrow evening.
