Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. A good group gathered and 'twas fun as always. Now I am ready for some Netflix before beddy bye.

I read, but retention is nil, so, yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlin’s, noogies, and how you doin’s all around as needed.

I don’t mind saying which zoo, as I’ve mentioned it here before. It’s the San Francisco Zoo, and I deal with all the 2-legged animals (i.e. Guest Services).

What that entails includes selling tickets, checking in guests at the entrance, operating the carousel, and - my very favorite thing to do there - running our antique miniature steam train.

This video shows me driving the train, starting at 1:32.

is it a canon printer per chance? If it is just keep messing with the paper and one day it will just work until next time it doesn’t and then ya begin all over again …

Blue-eyed white cats aren’t always deaf. Had at least a couple growing up, and their hearing was fine.

I had a rather laid back day. I did do a little cleaning. Still so much to so. Tomorrow I’m off to the wilds of Fort Lauderdale for a dentist appt. my Keys dentist is sending me for a couple implants. Fun stuff that. My son and his girl are going with me cause they can. I don’t expect anything drastic except X-rays maybe.

We just finished tuna wraps for supper kinda late. Blurf. Bedtime.

Evening all. Made it to the gym, got my swimming up to 1,200 yards (48 lengths of a 25-yr pool) in two sets of 600, with a 15 minute whirlpool break in-between, then off to 25 minutes of sauna. So that killed nearly 2 hours, then went up to the soccer fields and took a good walk then helped out in the stand selling uniforms and distributing pictures from last fall. So that kept me out of trouble until 7:30pm, when I had a double Whopper with Cheese and ruined all that good work… Well, there’s always tomorrow…

Butters, glad you’re getting used to your new place; I was going to mention watching out for the hurricanes, but I expect you’ve had a little practice already handling them…

Wheelie, I’d like a job like that when I grow up…

wet one, hope there is nothing except the cyst there.

Flyboy, my condolences to Mrs. L.A. One of my greatest fear in living alone is that I will fall and hurt myself severely enough not to be able to get up and no telling how long I would lay there.

hippie, hope the complaint does the trick. If not, Unknown’s suggestion of contacting the Feds is a good option.

Sari, hope the dogs behaved at the Dog Wash.

OK, getting late and I need to do a couple things before slumbertime. All y’all take care now.

Catnip is super easy to grow and has pretty flowers. It’s a mint, and is supposed to make a nice relaxing tea. The one time I tried it, I did not relax because I had to fight the cats off, but you might have better results.

She isn’t deaf which is probably how she survived to show up at my friends’ door. She’s only white when she’s inside, as soon as she goes outside, she rolls until she is dirt colored. I don’t think that cats are really smart enough to know to hide their white fur from the coyotes and owls but who knows?

I write the letter just how it should be, then walk away. When I come back I will heavily edit it, but at least I got it all out!

As my new doctor has already repeated the tests that were in my old medical records, they really aren’t needed anymore. I’m mostly pursuing this because I am amazing at holding grudges. Don’t piss off retired folks, we have plenty of time to write letters and fill out forms.

VBC and GG got into a real spat today. She was watching the birds and her tail was twitching. GG thought it was fun to bite the end of her tail in hopes of convincing her to play. She got tired of it and reached down and smacked him so hard on the head that I heard the thunk when it hit the nightstand. GG hissed and fluffed into Godzilla kitty, so VBC slapped him again and jumped off the nightstand on him and chased him into the catio. When she had him cornered there was much raising of voices and hair pulling before I got out to break it up.

It’s like it never happened now, but I was pretty worried that their wonderful friendship was in trouble.

It’s probably the wind. GG gets really staticy when the wind is blowing hard enough to knock things over and VBC gets unsettled when she hears things falling over or hitting the house. I get a sinus headache because the wind is blowing pollen in from the Sahara and shit. (Not really, probably just from Prescott.)

Jane, I liked that part you wrote about writing a letter just like you want to, in order to vent, and edit after. I did that once, except I didn’t edit, and sent it as it was. See, in 2014 my father was struck and killed while riding his motorcycle. Barely 24 hours after his name was released to the media a package was delivered by FedEx, saying it was “legal” documents. We opened it and it was from an ambulance chasing lawfirm in a different city, a book titled How To Win a Lawsuit With Dignity"

Some of the phrases I used, when writing back, were “Scum sucking bottom feeders” and “greedy sons of bitches.”

I was a lurker when it happened, I was very sad for you and angry for your father.

I wouldn’t have edited the letter either.

This, so much this.

And by the time I’ve gotten to this age I no longer care if you like me. I’ve got grandchildren for that.

I love how you put this.

Sounds like you should really seriously consider one of those wearable emergency alert things to be able to summon help if you need it.

@JaneDoe42, cats usually do get over little spats and resume however cordial a relationship they had before, at least in my experience.

I gave in to temptation. OMG felt so good. Napped for about an hour anna half, then chatted with my old BFF for … well, another hour anna half.
She’s got her own new Gentleman Caller, so we had to compare notes.

Then I got restless, and drove up to Taco Hell for a single soft taco, just to get outta the house for a bit.

Now Monkey is being clingy so furry cuddles are ensuing.

This is the main reason my phone is in my pocket at all times. I once kicked a ladder out from under me and deaf hubs couldn’t hear my cries for help as I was clinging to the roof. After a while I realized that I could just lower myself and drop three feet but I was so mad that the first thing I did was go inside to berate poor hubs for being deaf.

Thank you for the reassurance, I do know that, but cats is weird and we already have one behind a baby gate lest he beat GG up. (Our 10 lb, 17 year old cat that can’t manage to jump a baby gate but still terrifies GG.)

Noooooooo

This makes me very happy. This is one of my favorite zoos. :steam_locomotive:

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

I’m sorry aboyt Mris. LA’s cousin, Flyboy.

Have you considered switching to a less stressful occupation, like bomb disposal?

: waves at Wheelz :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Hopefully next dog will be as patient and forgiving as Gordie, or I may be in the market for another $15 cat.

That happened to my inlaws’ neighbor - a rather unpleasant woman who didn’t really have any friends in the neighborhood. In fact, I believe she was also estranged from her kids. Anyway, my MIL noticed she hadn’t seen the neighbor for a couple of days. One thing let to another and the police were called - they broke in and found her on the floor, still alive, but in bad shape. They took her to the hospital and her son was called - but she died a few days later. A sad end for a bitter old lady. Moral of the story - maybe you could arrange for someone to call you on a regular basis just to make sure you’re functioning?

That’s cool. The train at the Baltimore Zoo is really pathetic - upper right of the map. When we lived in Jacksonville, we were members of the Zoo there, and their train gave a really nice tour of the grounds.

I went to bed with Mel - tried a time-release version this time. I did fall asleep pretty fast, but my body seems wired to wake at 3:45 AM for no apparent reason. I dozed a little bit but never did fall back to sleep, and just after 5, I hit the shower. Now I’m just waiting for the call to fetch Toby. Nothing special planned for today. Just another day in babysitting paradise.

Happy Tuesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 55 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 80 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today is laundry day. Woo and Hoo. I think we shall also go procure any needed comestibles today as tomorrow promises to be a stormy day, i.e. a good day to stay inside and dry. Sup shall be grilled ham steaks with vegetative side matter TBD.

Flyboy so sorry about Mrs. LA’s cousin!

hippie go get 'em! Hope the complaints gets UHC’s attention.

wheelie cool! That just has to be a ton o’ fun!

CupCakes you were a lot nicer in that letter than I am afraid I would have been. I cannot believe that law firm did that!

This is worthy of being embroidered on a throw pillow!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. I suppose I should also purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the great unwashed attire if’n I am to go out and about. Such bother!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Good morning.

It’s 48 degrees and damp outside. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies today with some sun breaks here and there.

I’m sorry about SWMBO’s cousin, flyboy.

Yesterday was filled with lots of annoyances and must be done now situations. I had a long discussion with my boss about some changes in reporting structure for both me and the MPA that are probably coming. I’m not happy about it and think it’s a huge mistake. The plan was socialized to us last week and I politely let my feelings, concerns, and issues be known. I did not list all of them in the chat, nor did I verbalize all of them. Hoo BOY! There were many that agreed with me and I don’t think TPTB expected this kind of pushback. Sadly, I think it’s a done deal and all that is left to be done is get this through HR. They are going to see a mass exodus and I will be among them. I’m not in a rush; I’m going to take my time about finding something else, but I will be moving on to something else.

Long story short, they want us to report to political appointees and I have huge issues with that. First, most of them don’t know or care much about civil service regs and employee rights. Secondly, my job is keep them on the straight and narrow and tell them when something can’t be done. Many don’t like hearing no and retribution ensues. I’m not saying all are like that, but it happens. We have one that is making waves and problems for one of my peers now and this peer doesn’t yet fall under his control.

I don’t have any control over it and I’m not going to get completely wrapped around the axel. I will continue to do my job and move on when the time is right.

Another day of meetings today. Such fun.

Knowing absolutely nothing about the people or organizations involved, my first reaction is that this is something an investigative reporter might love to dig into… Or not. What do I know…

It was a system that was in place before a massive reorg just before I came on board. Now, some, including some returning appointees from a previous administration long for the old days and want control. As it stands now, program directors must report to the political appointee at the head of each state, BUT, they have a national program director that can be a buffer. Those that are advocating for the old way claim it will help us deliver the mission, but that’s BS and I called all of them on it. I run the operations for the state; all things administrative. The political appointee touts the programs, talks and meets with political leaders, and works to socialize our programs so people can take advantage of the. They don’t have the time to start managing additional employees. It’s just dumb. Get them an admin assistant and be done with it.

So, no, a huge news story won’t be coming. It’s just BS that rolls down when there is a change in the Presidential administration.
