We had a lovely visit and a very nice lunch:
You realize I did that deliberately…
My husband’s grandmother was in her 90s and her doctor got on her about her cholesterol or some such thing. Seems to me there comes a point where you should be allowed to not give a damn about what you should eat. If I make it to my 90s, I’ll have ice cream for breakfast every day!! I know that’s not your mom’s issue, but really, there are times where worry about diet is misplaced.
How much did you make pole dancing? Pics?? ![]()
Yay for mini-Mumper lunches!! Starting in May, any of you who find yourselves near my little corner of the world are more than invited to spend a day boating on the Chesapeake. I’m serious!
Found out all our neighbors want to give us a farewell pot luck. I sure hope the place sells as expected and we leave as expected, or it could get uncomfortable around here.
“Did they leave yet?”
“I don’t think so.”
“You keep watch and I’ll go start the car. Then we’ll make a break for the store.”
“What if they see us? Should we wear hats?”
He’s actually a nice guy. But I think he’s wrong.
Sorry, I’ve not been here.
I { sob } feel so loved and understood.
Afternoon all. Swimmin’ and Saunan’ and Whirlpoolin’ have been completed and didn’t drown once. Gym has showers so I am getting myself nice and clean on a regular basis, as long as the bottle of Irish Spring body wash holds out. Weather is still nice (albeit only in the 50’s) so I’ll get a walk in tonight, since I also have to drop off my gas bill.
Hippy, the picture with you, Sunflower, and BBBoo is nice. We share the same beard (I’m about 3-4 months growth from getting to your level) and hairline (almost non-existent).
I’ve met FCM, red, and Wizard(Maus Magill, not around much lately) in person. I’ll be in Seattle 4-5 May and Portland 15-16 May if any Mumpers around there would like to meet up.
Sari, hope Mom-unit starts eating all the foods people told her not to eat anymore–I’m trying to keep my appetite under control, but when I hit 80 look out folks!!! Sounds like talkie has some good advice there.
And I feel for the hyper-active dog with nobody to play with; I worry about my niece, she went from a 180lb. sloth of a English Mastiff to a 30lb French Bulldog and I wonder if they both can adjust.
talkie, usually getting a teenage boy to eat is never a big problem; hope he heals fast.
Nut, good news on the funding! And no job is finished until the paperwork is complete.
OK, need to start putting the soccer shirts on hangers, so all y’all take care.
I’ve met FCM , red , and Wizard
Wasn’t Tugig here when you came to the party at my house? I know there were pictures but for the life of me, I have no idea where they are now - maybe on my external hard drive??
I just finished fixing one of our life rings for the boat - I’ll do the other one tomorrow. It should go faster now that I’ve figured out some tricks. The ring is in kind of sad shape, but it still floats, and to replace them would cost like $150. All the years we’ve had boats, we never needed to throw a life ring, so I’m not too worried about these now. Plus we’ve got a rule that all kids aboard must wear life jackets when they’re outside of the cabin. Adults can do as they wish, but we reserve the right to mock anyone who falls overboard. ![]()
It’s been raining on and off, and it’s supposed to continue like that thru tomorrow evening. ick. Then Sunday and Monday mornings, they’re calling for temps in the 20s. Guess I won’t be putting my spider plants out this weekend yet. Dammit.
We went to Salsa’s for lunch, so neither of us want supper. I may have an orange later. So a mostly lazy evening ahead.
Yay!!! I’ve always wanted to meet this group of Dopers in person. I hope you guys have a great time.
I did!
as soon as he and the lovely Sunflower drive away I think of a million things I wanted to ask them or tell them but the time just goes so fast! They are definitely the ‘cool kids’ on the block.
Doggio ? Shoe ? Nellie ? I mean it’s just sitting there… < snerk >
Hey, my gutter mind has seniority over those babes in the woods!
All I have to say is it is either 8 inches or it is floppy. Can’t be both.
AND I want pictures.
hippie has the photo. He should show up any minute.
this gluten-free thing is harder than it looks:
Yes, it sure us. My beloved daughter has celiac and staying gluten free is practically a full time job but doing so has made a world of difference in her health. Gluten is everywhere-lip balm, lotion, shampoo. Maybe the food product processed on that factory line just before what you’re about to eat was processed had wheat, barley, etc in it. Scratch that potentially contaminated yet theoretically non-gluten food. A few parts per million can set off a crippling cascade of symptoms. She ends up ordering a lot of grocery staples on line once she finds a trusted supplier. I know she uses a lot of Bob’s Red Mill for baking, grains and other staples. They have a dedicated factory that gluten never gets near. Here’s a good guide to gluten free Easter candy:
Curiously, some M & Ms are GF, some aren’t. Here’s a score card for the Easter Bunny. Useful for Valentines Day too.
I only have two minutes. I finished the IRS letter and need to get it to the PO, if the letter doesn’t burn through the envelope first. Oh, it’s Rated G and very businesslike; it’s just that vexation was seeping from my pores onto the paper.
The PT place called. They don’t have a therapist who does pelvic floor stuff, so I’ll have to go elsewhere, which means a wait of at least a month, probably, to get in. I can’t seem to walk two feet without falling down some rabbit hole. Why is that?
Big hugs to all. I’ll be back.

For that I may take myself to your little corner of MerryLande! Can I sleep on the boat overnight? I’ve always wanted to do that and never have. Not many boats in Nebraska have bunks or berths. We could wear funky pajamas and watch inappropriate movies on my iPad and giggle. Maybe one mixed drink but endless Diet Coke!
know there were pictures but for the life of me, I have no idea where they are now - maybe on my external hard drive??
Maybe on an 8” floppy somewhere?
>> double snerk <<
Sunny, it’s just boring fishing for blue gill, crappie, and/or catfish. I sure do enjoy it, though! I did have an enjoyable time, too. So, thank you!
Read all , retained little.
I’ve met three Mumpers IRL (doggio, metal mouse and magic). I’ve also met quite a few Nashville area dopers when we’ve had dopefests in the past. A couple of them I see on a semi regular basis mostly through an organization that one of them and I belong to and once in a while, her doper sister is at a social function that includes us.
It was small dog alert weather again this afternoon. Winter is supposed to make a visit this weekend (oh, joy), so I can’t turn off the heat just yet.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Didn’t Ruble and I meet you when we were on one of our amusement park trips, in a Waffle House in TN? Or am I thinking of another Doper?
I keep meaning to get back into regular posting, life just keeps intervening. I owe all of my invisible friends an update.
O_W
Howdy Y’all! The rain let up mid-afternoon, so we decided it was day drink on the back porch time. We had Bloody Bubbas AKA beer with V-8 juice and a splash of hot sauce, served in frosty mugs. YUM! Sup was leftovers as I said earlier. I sent out the blast email re availability to serve in April and have even gotten back several answers. I’ll give everyone until Firday to answer and then start some individualized cajolin’ until I have enough folks scheduled. Also I need to do some work on my spreadsheet so I can send the schedule out when it’s done. I have decided I like the Google stuff for that.
Thus it is in swampland.
Went all the way to the Mac store because my wireless mouse wasn’t connecting to the new computer. Turns out there’s a pairing button on the bottom that I didn’t notice. I must have used it two years ago, but I forgot it.
The upside is that the guy at the service desk is an even bigger NASA fan than I am. (He noticed my Dryden Flight Research Center – now Armstrong Flight Research Center) jacket last time, and it turns out his dad worked for NASA. He’d never seen The Right Stuff or the HBO series From The Earth To The Moon. Now that he’s heard of them, he’s going to watch them.
Gas bill has been dropped off and got my park walk in, then decided to eat at Subway just because I could. Kicked the heat up a bit indoors as it’s down to 51F and heading for 41F tonight.
flyboy, he never heard of The Right Stuff? Fine movie, the book is even better IMHO.

OW, life has a way of doing that. We’ll look forward to your update once you have a chance.
In the ways of mumper meetings, if’n anyone comes to the finger lakes area of NY, shoot me a message.
Read much, retained little, so boos, hugs, trouts as required.
I think I’m on top of this project, will be finishing the last, difficult piece tomorrow, the stupid desk that is multiples of 5x8. But, still have the other one, that they aren’t giving me the needed info for. Really, how hard is it to tell me the radius of your stage front? Other than that, I just gotta build and paint a couple more boxes…sorry, plinths. Do y’all wanna see pics of the crap I make?
Stay safe and happy, y’all.
Fine movie, the book is even better IMHO.
I agree. The best description of ‘burned beyond recognition’ I’ve ever read.
Do y’all wanna see pics of the crap I make?
Yes, of course!
