It is obvious that times of India has taken the transcript from Indian security agencies, and not from the relatives of the terrorist living in Pakistan.
I think religion in ideal scenario is supposed to be related with spirituality and with (harmless) cultural traditions, festivals etc. Although I am not religious, I don’t believe religion is poison or is harmful. Also, religions have reformed with time.
Islam is different from all other religions. Please dont assume that terrorists are the only extremists. The extremism or primitiveness you find in terrorists is also seen on internet, on YouTube comments for ex. in many adherents in varying degrees. Many terrorists are prepared in religious Madrassas only.
Like mentioned earlier, one should love and respect muslims as individuals like non-muslims knowing that Islam is poison.
You know, Christianity ain’t exactly squeaky clean when it comes to its history, either.
He’s been here for awhile. Caused a bit of a stink awhile ago when referring to some Muslim he didn’t like as a “Paki” which the mods felt wasn’t even worthy of a mod note much less a warning for hate speech.
That’s right. Neither is Hinduism. In certain Hindu communities (rajputs), Sati(abolished now) used to be practiced where widow immolated herself on her husband’s pyre. Religions have reformed with time. The pace of reform should have been even faster in this information era. I don’t think Islam has reformed (or reformed nearly enough).
The Times didn’t identify the source in the article. Have the Indian security agencies confirmed that they were monitoring the family’s phone? Have other media sources reported on the existence of this transcript? What do you make of the reference to slitting throats in the transcript, when the official accounts of the incident do not indicate that any victims died from having their throats cut?
Again, I’m not familiar at all with this incident. Perhaps the answers to my questions are well known to those who have been following the story. But I am somewhat skeptical of this transcript.
They hijacked one car, slit throat of the driver(who died) and another person (jeweller, used his phone, which was intercepted by security agencies, to call to pak) -
While I disagree with truthSeeker2’s original post and most of his other points, he has a valid point on this one.
The Hindu religion didn’t reform itself. The British forced a change. And widows were still jumping on fires even in the 1980s, IIRC.
One women did in 1987 and it caused an uproar, it wasn’t a common practise then:
They also don’t sacrifice humans at the Kali temple in Calcutta anymore. It not really relevant if it was forced on them or not, Hinudism has gone through a reform process. Communal violence is still an issue of course, I’m not saying its perfect.
Nah, he’s been active in islamophobic threads since.
Perhaps you could remind us which religion were the people who popularised the practice of suicide bombings.
Interesting. Thanks for the cite.
Hooollleeee shit truthseeker2, you came back!
I’m surprised, because I was sure the eveil Muslims were going to get you for your truthful internet postings. I’m glad you are hanging in there.
So, what should we do truthSeeker2? Should we kill them all? Shall we carpet bomb them until the desert turns to glass and glows so we can shoot them in the dark? Would that be the Christian thing to do? 600,000 civilians (not soldiers, mind you, civilians) died during the US invasion and occupation of Iraq, how many more evil muslims should a good Christian kill? Or maybe we should lock them up in camps until they renounce their faith. Should we brand them to mark them as dangerous? What do you think we should do truthseeker2?
If Quakerism had a billion+ adherents, that would be a brilliant argument.
If Quakerism had a billion+ adherents I’d be bloody thrilled. OK, they’re still theists, but at least they pay more than lip service to the whole “hurting and killing are shitty things to do” rules that all the other theists seem happy to loophole the shit out of.
While the mother appears to approve of his actions, it was the terrorist himself talking about a feast.
The OP is an Indian Hindu, so I don’t think he much cares what the Christian thing to do is.
I am not sure how many takers you would really get with that broad a brush. Perhaps, if you phrased it as “religious fundamentalism is a poison for society” then you would tempt more of us.
He speaks to his mother in English? If this is a translation of the transcripts, why are some parts of it left in Arabic?
Other than the religious invocations at the beginning, it’s Urdu, not Arabic. And it wouldn’t be unusual for Pakistanis to speak both Urdu and English in the same conversation. However, it’s probably just that the TOI didn’t bother to translate the bits that even non-Urdu speakers would understand (the same way a US newspaper wouldn’t translate common Spanish phrases).
