Carnivale – any format, any medium, give me a graphic novel or a radio serial or a stage play, just finish the story!
Alphas – “Heroes done right” is only scratching the surface of what made this show so awesome, and its recent cancellation after such a terrible cliffhanger makes me too bitter to watch it again any time soon, which is just salt in the wound.
Twin Peaks – Hmmm, “excellent shows that end on terrible cliffhangers” seems to be a theme here… David Lynch would have to be intimately involved, though, which will never happen.
Rome’s writers squeezed two seasons worth of story planning into the 2nd season of Rome when they learned ahead of time that 2 seasons were all they were going to get. So the whole story line of Caesar getting murdered to Augustus defeating Brutus and Antony and Cleopatra got compressed way more than originally intended. Certainly the plan was always to have Vorenus and Pullo ride off into the sunset with the dawn of Pax Romana though.
My list includes a bunch of shows already mentioned, first on the list being Terriers.
Ahh, right. So what we want w/ ***Rome ***isn’t so much another season, but rather to go back in time and have it not be cancelled so that it could play out over three seasons instead of two as originally intended, thus giving the story some more room to breathe and giving us all another season of Roman goodness. Got it.
Life - I don’t think many people watched this Damien Lewis detective show, but it had a great blend of quirkiness, cleverness, and drama.
Firefly - Had to say it, great show and ended way too soon. Endless story possibilities.
Seinfeld - I think the gang had a lot more great episodes in them, they ended on a high note but with good writers this show could go on another 5 seasons easily.
Wow, I totally disagree. I came in here to say that Crusade really needs to be brought back. It had so much promise, the characters were very interesting, and it was just getting started and just getting intriguing when the plug was unceremoniously pulled.
I’d also love the see Human Target come back, as long as the second season – with that godawful woman boss who totally destroyed the show – was relegated to dream status. I’d like to see Mark Valley and Chi McBride return, but as far as I’m concerned replacing them would not necessarily be a deal-breaker. Jackie Earle Haley, on the other hand, is irreplaceable. He wasn’t used enough in the show, and if the show was brought back without him I probably wouldn’t bother.
Yeah, I seem to be the only person who liked Heroes all the way through. I’m also the only person that liked Star Trek 5, so I’ve learned to accept that my taste is suspect.
Firefly could totally keep going where it left off, but since it’s not EVAR happening, I’ll remove it and put in Lie To Me. I loved the characters, and whereas it could very well have been a one trick pony like Numbers, they kept finding ways to make it fresh. Smart, well acted, emotionally true.
